Ok so i've to myself a brand new pc and was now going back into writing some  scripts.
I've gone to celtx site and apparently now the free version only allows me to write in the webpage and i can't seem to figure how to save it as pdf.

I just cant find a link to download the actual software, unless now the actual software is no longer free.

meanwhile i've tried trelby, but good lord, so far i've just managed to write fade in and can't get past that, dreadful.

So besides those two, any other decent (!) screenwriting software?

Lol.  I'm just the opposite as you.  I tried celtx years ago, and then I tried it again just a couple months ago.  I loathed it both times.

Then, someone finally helped me realize MS Word or Works ain't going to cut it.

I also tried Final Draft and hated that just as much as any other software that I didn't pay for.

Then Trelby came along and I love it.  Mainly because what you're actually typing synchs up with the PDF and there's no guessing where a page actually ends at.  (Don't know if Celtx has since corrected that.)

I do know a lot of people on here use celt-x, though, and they do post their scripts as pdf's, so I'm sure someone'll be along in a few to tell you how to do it.

Welcome back to screenwriting!  Can't wait to read one of yours.

- Mark

Listen to Mark on this one.

Trebly is a kicka$$ package and it's free.

Ditch Celtx. More headaches than its worth.

Thanks, i'll give  trebly another try, though if someone tells me how to export my scripts to pdf using the "new" celtx, i'll  start using it again for sure.

edit: Ok so i think there's actually no way to export to pdf the script in craptx, so i have to stick with trelby after all...meanwhile how do i underline in trelby?

You cannot import a PDF into Celtx...

You CAN import it into Trelby though.

Edit- are you saying you are having trouble EXPORTING it into PDF?

Go to file...

Print...

Pick your printer (choose PDF)

Click Okay

And save it to whatever file you wish to save it to...

Glad it helped!

I still use Celtx.  The desktop version does have a tab at the bottom to convert to PDF, but you have to be connected to the Internet before it will work.  The software is still free and available at download.com.  I am going to try Trelby though, because I cannot format TV scripts properly in Celtx.  I hope I can in Trelby.

My Scripts:
SHORTS
Bed Bugs
I Got The Shaft
No Clowning Around
Fool's Gold
Five Days for Redemption

TELEVISION
Father, Forgive Me
Sheriff of Nowhere

Cinergy Script Editor is what I use. Visit http://www.mindstarproductions.com (I think that's the web site) and you can download it for free. It has what you need. However, there's no spell check for it so have a dictionary handy.

Celtx is good and worked for me... until I wanted to write a TV pilot.  Celtx doesn't support TV format.  I used Trelby for that and it worked okay.  I might have to bite the bullet and get FD or Movie Magic.
