Hey guys,

As most of you are aware, I haven't been on SS a great deal lately as I thought I would back off for the last few months to get a feature completed.

It has been an, "ON AGAIN, OFF AGAIN" project for the last 4 years, with little time available to dedicate, in order to get it completed.

I decided some 6 months ago, to take on a Co-Writer and decided that Daniel Botha was the way to go as he joined SS around the same time as myself, and our styles are similar. Dan has been invaluable and I could not have gotten it done without him. He will go places.

The project was around half way done, when Dan joined forces with me, and......

THE NEWS IS..... (Scroll down)
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
IT'S DONE.

We have just finished the FIRST DRAFT and it's soooooo Freakin exciting.

Beat Sheet done, Query Letter done, a poster done (for fun) and starting to look at a final final final draft draft draft check. I must be stuttering from the excitement. Character Bio's and maybe a mood board on the way soon.

Copyrights happen in about a week and then we are in business.

Well I can't let our too much, other than it's a psychological Thriller and the concept has never been done before. Bad news is, it won't be making it's way onto SS apart from a few active SS members who have offered to read.

I'll look at getting onto the Sequel and Prequel soon, and have a ghost writer lined up to write a novel based on the first screenplay.

I hope to have more time free very soon, to get back into reading and commenting on SS and look forward 2 it.

Regards Alex

PS a final thanks goes out to all the SS members who have commented on my shorts over the last 12 months. YOU GUYS ARE ACE and I wouldn't be here without you help and support.

That's great! Will we get to see at least a logline when the copyright goes through?

Not trying to burst your bubble, but if this is your FIRST DRAFT then hopefully you realize you've probably got at least FIVE MORE DRAFTS ahead of you before this thing is even close to being shopped around.

Sorry, but somebody had to say it.

Alex,

Congrats on the first draft completion!
My advice to you...

Get it protected then get it read by as many folks as possible.
Don't show it to a working pro until it's market ready.

Don't protect your prose,  or you'll never know if it can take a beating.
Be mean to it, throw it to the wolves and let them tear into it!

Good luck.
Keep writing and rewriting!

Regards,
E.D.

Everything Brett said is right on...

Congrats on finishing your feature.

I'm not sure I understand why you won't post it though.

If it's protected, you'll certainly benefit by peer reviews.

That way when you go on to a third or fourth rewrite, you'll have plenty of unbiased and helpful advice on where to strengthen it.

Food for thought

Shawn…..><

Thanks Guys for all you comments.

I know it is only a first draft though since it has taken soooo long to get here, I have done a few edits and rewrites along the way so I am hoping it is slightly more progressed than a first draft.

In fact, both myself and Dan have already commenced a final review to undertake some minor changes and possibly a few minor additions as the length came in 3 pages under what I hoped for.

I have also done a full read yesterday and did some minor fine tuning to the already pretty solid storyline.

Saying all the above, I am sure it will need more and more and more changes as you guys have mentioned.

Once again thanks for all the posts guys.

Regards Alex

Thanks Mark,

I have to say writing this one has been a blast as I have down a huge amount of reasearch into Serial Killers and how they think and act.

I feel I have embedded this sick knowledge into the innocent mind of Daniel. For that I apologise.

I am sure Dan, wont be far behind me at posting on this thread.

Dan, I know I have got your mind thinking like a Serial Killer and I know you now have a much better understanding of their mindset.
Once again, I am still Sorry for that.

It's true! It's true I tell ya! He's turned me into a psychopathic killer! Save me!!!!!

Nah in all honesty, it's a great feeling to have a feature length partly under your belt. I say "partly" mainly because I know there is still a lot of work to go before it's properly finished. It's still exciting, nevertheless.

Alex is incredibly easy to work with an his overall passion for his work has made it an awesome experience.

As for posting to SS. I'm going to remain neutral on that one.

Thanks Dan, Have to say in such a short time we have both come a long way and your writing has improved ten fold. I look forward to seeing your work on plastic one day.

With your writing talent and my sick perverted mind I am sure we will surprise.

Is there room for one more in the mutiual admiration society?

LOL

I jest! Good luck and considering you two love it and pretty much only you two will be reading it over and over, I can guarantee that with that count, most everyone who reads it will love it.

Well done for finishing a feature and finding love.  Okay I'm joshing with the latter lol.

Seriously though guys, a big congrats on not only finishing a feature but one that has given you both immense satisfaction and confidence. (I'm being honest here).

I've often thought of asking for help with completing scripts as I think the other writer will offer motivation and fresh ideas.

Well done guys.

Thanks Anthony,

Our collaboration has worked a treat, though I would advise you to know the other writer well before you join forces.

Dan and I have worked extremely well together, and we outlined the conditions and kicked the agreement document back and forth a couple of times. We are both pretty easy going guys so no real problem in being flexible to each others needs.

I can say it was great to have each other to throw ideas back and forth, and due to my hectic life, I wouldn't have had the time to finish it solo.

I have also thought it would be great, as a screenwriter to have a few associates to connect with on a monthly basis, a few coffee's and a chat to get help and throw ideas and get their thoughts.

Need any help with collaboration, shoot me a PM for advice.

Regards Alex

Good luck to both of you.

I'm a little intrigued now about the story, by the snippets you've dropped there. Films about serial killers and their mindset are right up my street!

Looking forward to either reading it or seeing it.

I couldn’t agree more – after meeting Alex a few weeks ago, his passion for not only screenwriting but this particular script was evident and I wish you both all the best with it. Also, thanks for the coffee, buddy.

And talk about relationships... why wasn't I invited Steven Elizabeth Cooper? Yeah I used your full name... As soon as I turn my back.
I'm hurt
You know I would have flown 6,000 miles to have coffee with you, even though I only drink tea. But that's the sacrifice I would have made.

Talk about a bro-mance gone bad...

Kinda embarrased to watch.

It's like Tele-Mundo in America. The awkward man on man on man on man situation.

Why havent you called?

Thanks Coops, you and me alike. Had an amazing chat and I feel we both benefited from it.
Look forward to the next one though it sounds like we will need to formally invite a few others.
Hee Hee. Dan and Mark will need to jump in a plane and pop over for a coffee. It'll be great.
SHIT LET'S JUST INVITE ALL THE SS MEMBERS.

Shawn and Mark, this love triangle sounds worse than it is. Hee Hee. Truth is, two of us are straight and married with kids, and the third in a relationship. Let's call it a screenwriting triangle.

To let the cat out of the bag, I've been meeting two other screenwriters for coffee's as well. I'm such a Flousy !!!!!

Did get a giggle though.

Hey Kip, great minds think alike. My total existence comprises of thought on how to kill people with unique methods, some great concepts though and I've hit an ACE with my franchise.

Alex

I must not be in that triangle? - I fit none of that criteria.

I'm straight with kids and a pain in the...better not.

Sorry you didn't get invited Mark but I thought you might be busy with Mandy - the blow up sheep.
