Hello guys,

Just thought I would post and ask you all for your advice on a problem I have encountered.

I am using Final Draft 8 with Windows 7 (64-Bit) and found that the Speech Control only works with one voice "Microsoft Anna" as I believe this is the only 64 Bit voice available.

After much research, I have found there are a few 3rd Party programs with 64 bit TTS voices available, some of which I hear are very realistic.

Can anyone advise what they are using and if it is compatible with Windows 7 (64-Bit) ? Or suggest any alternatives to this.

I know some of you will say "Don't waste your time. The voices are Crap and Robotic" though from a screenwritting persective it is always great to hear your dialouge played back.

Looking forward to your posts

Regards Alex

I've fooled around with this as well but to no avail.  Final Draft goes off the voices loaded in the hard drive's voice narrator.  Or some shit like that. Anyway, I could never get it to work.

Thanks bjamin,

I got it working in FD8 though only with Microsoft Anna.

In Windows 7 If you go to start and in the search programs and files prompt type "text to speech" the panel will pop up.
Click on the advanced button, then select "Use this audio output device" and make sure it is set to Speaker.

This should get you playing only one voice.

I NEED MORE THAN ONE THOUGH !!!!!

PLEASE HELP.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your situation, but why not use the voices that come with the FD8 program?

Thanks Breanne,

FD8 uses Windows Microsoft voices and in Windows 7 (64-Bit) there is only one voice "Microsoft Anna" so all the voices sound the same.

The 32 bit voices in other windows versions does not work with Win7-64.

I can get the anna voice to play; it's when I downloaded a third-party file that I couldn't get FD to pick up on the new voices.

Thanks bjamin,

Yep the Anna vice does work as it is a 64 bit voice though no others.

The 3rd party have to also be 64 bit voices to work and there's not many of them.

Ah, I thought they were part of the FD8 program.

I did some research and apparently there is only one voice that works with Windows 7. There is the option to install a third party program, but that costs money and may not work with Final Draft. Looks like your only workable option is to change your operating system.

Thanks Breanne,

Would love to know if anyone is using any 3rd party applications and how they perform.

Regards Alwx
