True...  but lying about it probably isn't a good idea, just on general principle....

I agree. I was just curious if there is a way from a producer to find out if a script has been previously optioned. Is this information only held in the contract between the two parties, producer and writer.

Yes. Nobody would know if you held two options... but if both got put into development, you would get outed pretty quickly.
