Hello everyone!
I am new to this board and am not much of a writer; however, I have experienced directing simple/generic video projects, worked/acted with a professional theater company, and have many contacts with a lot of different resources that could potentially help your movie get made.  What I am asking you is, Do you want to team up and produce your movie?  We would work out the details of who does what and use your script.  Thus, you get the credit as the "Head Screenwriter" and one of the "Producers" while perhaps I direct/produce the movie.  Please send in scripts that have already been evaluated by people.  I have read several scripts on this board and some are PHENOMENAL while others need some work.  If you think we can pick up your script and start the process, contact me.  I am in college, thus, my time/effor is devoted to that; however, we will be able to work out times to get scenes filmed and the movie produced.  This would be an amateur film project though, but at least you will be able to see your writing come to life.  Everything I do will be done with utmost respect and integrity.  Thanks for your consideration!!!!!  My possible resources are below.  Thoughts?

My Possible Resources:
- A friend has access to quality cameras and microphones to produce high-quality resolution etc...  He could potentially handle equipment/cameras
- A friend is a part of a WWII American and Civil War Confederate reenactment group.  Thus, possibly able to access their expertise, uniforms, equipment...
- The theater company has a basement full of props that I potentially could borrow as well as another basement full of costumes from different decades and plays.
- I know a lot of actors/actresses of different height, gender, nationality, etc...
- I am a boy scout with connections to wilderness camps for outdoor/woodsy scenes as well as lakes and trails
- I have studied martial arts for 15 years and have experience with stage fighting and know a fight/sword choreographer.
- I have an editiing software program that can use Greenscreen (cyberdelux 12)
- Other connections I might have missed

My Restrictions:
- My time. College and some other activities my prolong the movie process slightly
- Money.  Not sure how much capitol I can invest, a lot of my resources would be favors
- Interior sets.  I would be using actual buildings and rooms as opposed to specific sets.  (hope my point is clear)
- Special effects.  I am not a graphic artist.  Although I might be able to find one, if you need digitally animated aliens or whatever, we would need to have a talk on how that can be done.  I could place them into the movie via green screen, but the actual creation isn't my strength.
- I live/work primarily in Northeast Ohio.
- I do not have any actual full length movie making experience.  I just have light acting, directing, filming, editing, and producing experience

I understand the value scriptwriters have with their scripts, and I would love to help you get your movie produced.  I will look at any script sent to me either commented in this post of in a PM, but I will take into account whether I can accomodate your script or not.  Once I select a script I will let you know and if you want to help with the movie process, let me know how you can contribute.  Again, thanks so much for you time and consideration!!!!

Hi Nathan,

This sounds awesome!

A couple questions that might help people with choosing submissions --

What do you imagine doing with the finished product?

Are you leaning towards any particular genre?

Are you leaning towards any particular audience? Kids? Young adults? Adult-oriented?

Will you be working with mostly college-age actors?

Do you have thoughts on tone -- silly, serious? Light, dark? Fluffy, impactful?

I hope you can find something around here that's a good fit for you.

Are you looking for shorts or features?

Do you want to collaborate and write something or are you looking for a finished script right now?

Great questions!  Here are my responses.

A couple questions that might help people with choosing submissions --

What do you imagine doing with the finished product?
Minimum: I can easily make DVDs and we can spread the word that way or..
Maximum Optimism: If the film turns out really fantastic and both the Scriptwriter and I agree, I would contact a Movie Distribution Company and see if they would accept it.  Then let them handle it.

Are you leaning towards any particular genre?

Not one particularly as I am very flexible on what to do.  I am open to a lot of genres my comments on some of them are:
Leaning Against:
-  Westerns: I would lean against Westerns as northeast Ohio isn’t particularly known for its desert/western history. Lol So there is a difficulty getting proper sets.
- Horror:  I personally am not into horror as much.
- Science Fiction: I love these movies, but spaceships, aliens, etc… might be difficult to create unless we find a graphic artist.
- Animated: again with the digital handicap.
Leaning Towards
-     Comedies, to me, appear to be more easier to make
-     Action movies are great.  I might have to do more research in acquiring guns/weapons if it requires them.
-     Inspirational/impactful are always interesting and would be intrigued to put something together.
-     Mysteries, easily done with right direction
Possibly
-     Musical.  I know people who can sing/dance competently; however, the songs’ music might pose difficulty unless it is already made up by the writer.  Choreographers can be easily found where I am.

Are you leaning towards any particular audience? Kids? Young adults? Adult-oriented?
No specific group.  I would prefer to keep the movies between G-PG-13.  If it moves to an R rating because of language that isn’t too big of a deal; however, I won’t be using extensive gore or nudity.

Will you be working with mostly college-age actors?
No.  There are a lot of people ranging from many ages that I can reach out to.  Example, I know a young 10 year old girl who was Susan in Miracle on 34th Street and knocked it out of the park.  Also, in that show was a guy who not only looked like Santa Claus but also owns his own Santa suit.  So Christmas movies could work if he would do it.  More shows than that at that theater company I worked with.  I know actors aging from gradeschool-highschoolers-young adults-adults-senior citizens.  Most of my help may come from college/high school students, but I can get "almost" anyone the script needs.

Do you have thoughts on tone -- silly, serious? Light, dark? Fluffy, impactful?

Again, very flexible in what the scriptwriter has in mind.  Most interested in humorous, serious, and/or impactful
I hope you can find something around here that's a good fit for you.
Thanks!  These were valuable questions and very beneficial.

A short feature may be smart to get started; however, if we plan it right, I should be able to help out any lengthed feature.  Preferably not too long though...

I am not opposed to assisting in the writing, but I would prefer to use a script already written by someone on this board.

Hey Nate,

As you're a boy scout, and you mentioned camping, I think I have something for you that is quite easy to shoot really.  I can't hand it over yet, but if you remain open then I think it will be something to look for in the future.

It's a mystery story.  Not specifically aimed at KIDS but the main protagonist is a 12-Y.O.  The story takes place in the woods during a family vacation.  So the cast consists of your typical father/mother/teen sister/close uncle and of course, the main protag.  Alongside a dog (any dog really, maybe a Golden Retriever), 5-6 extras (park ranger, gas station attendant, neighbor, gardener, hiker [1-2]).  And lastly, the girl who bathes in mystery.

Locations would include:
A Nature Reservation (some form of woods)
Cabin or campsite (whatever fits and/or is available to you)
Suburban neighborhood (again, whatever's available to you)
Ranger Outpost (perhaps an old nature retreat)
Gas Station (any you can film at)
Woodland Lake

Required Props:
Hunting rifle (the uncle hunts animals)
Skeletal remains (skulls, bones, etc)
Hunting knife (easy to come by)
Rowboat

Vehicles:
Station Wagon of some description

Budget: Very Low (I was gonna say "uber low")

I say this is not for kids because it contains:
Swearing
Rape
Violence

If anything, it's a Hard PG-13.  No smoking or drugs.  Just a few "f-bombs" and the rape thing is merely mentioned and seen briefly in a flashback scene, but in my head, the rape in question is difficult to see due to a distorted filter.  So you hear the cries and such, but you don't really "see" anything.

Title: The Lake
Genre:  Mystery, Drama, Thriller
Rating:  PG-13 (swearing, violence, themes of sexual distress)
Pages:  85/90

I'm on the first draft, or throwaway draft, per se, as I type this.  If you're interested, let me know and I'll whip over the throwaway once it's done (note that the final draft won't be as messy).
