Hi all,

I'm new to Simply Scripts. My first two scripts (a feature and a short) are in this weeks unproduced scripts.

I have never had any formal training or taken any courses in screenwriting. I have read a lot of books on the subject and read a fair amount of produced and unproduced scripts.

Without any feedback on what I have written I don't really know what my strengths and weakness are.

So after all that my question is,  does anybody really want feedback from a newby? I am more than happy to give it but am not sure of it's value because I am quite new to screenwriting myself.

Thanks,

Warren

We were all new at some point... in fact I asked exactly the same question when I joined.

So yes, opinions are valued, jump in.

Hey warren,

Welcome abroad. We're feedback addicts so as long as you explain what and why liked something, your good.

And if you want Reciprocation, you have to show people here your involved. And nothing does that better than leaving feedback. You can tell members from newbies from the number of posts. Be mindful though, some scripts are just dumped here and never looked at again. I would suggest review from longtime members on the board

Best of luck
Gabe

Just Murdered by Sean Elwood (Zombie Sean) and Gabriel Moronta (Mr. Ripley) - (Dark Comedy, Horror) All is fair in love and war. A hopeless romantic gay man resorts to bloodshed to win the coveted position of Bridesmaid. 99 pages.

Hey Warren. Nice meeting you.
re your question - doesn't matter at all if you're new to screenwriting or SimplyScripts, your insights are as valuable.

You still know what you like and what you don't... what you feel works and what doesn't. It's just an opinion. Nobody has to actually listen to you... so feel free to share.

Welcome Warren,
Why wouldn't we want to know what you think of something.  There is no harm in posting an opinion.

Just remember that it is just an opinion.  If the writer disagrees, that is their right.

If you hate something, tell them why.  I have found most on here are okay with harsh honest reviews, just go into detail.  Have fun with it.

Good luck
Dan

Please read my scripts:
http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-series/m-1427564706/

I'm interested in reading animation, horror, sci fy, suspense, fantasy, and anything that is good.  I enjoy writing the same.  Looking to team with anyone!

Thanks
Dan

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes I know what I like and don't like story wise and with regards to the style in which something is written. So in that regard it is easy to offer an opinion.

I guess I was more worried about commenting on the technical side of screenwriting.

It will be a great learning experience and I look forward to becoming more involved.

Feeling very welcomed already

Cheers

There's not a lot of technical stuff to learn. Even less these days. I break the rules all the time... which can slightly annoy other writers from time to time.
