Anyone ever have this issue? I've had three different producers contact me in the past week, all interested in the same script. What should I do?

Congrats Zack, it's a nice dilemma to have mate.

I had similar with Heartbeat (after the review on here), I looked at the credentials of the producers who were asking, asked if they had a budget to purchase the script and went from there and sole to a producer with a decent record/showreel and made a decent $ amount from the sale too,

Good luck with it

Yeah, I suppose there are far worse problems I could have. Thanks for the advice Anthony. And congrats on getting Heartbeat sold.

There's nothing wrong with letting more than one person produce your script. Just let them know that if they want exclusivity, they have to pay you.

Congrats!

Zack: Is there a payment involved to you or is it a free option?

Free option. No one's offered any payment.

Have you asked them about payment?

I always ask 'do you have a budget to purchase the script?'

You'd be surprised how many say yes.

Whenever someone asks if they may use one of my screenplays, I always tell them they can as long as I get the full writing credit. Guess I've been going about it the wrong way. Lol. I honestly didn't know I could sell a short screenplay.

Exclusive= payment.

Otherwise, let's see who comes up with the best version.

Mind you, if they can pay for lunch for the cast and crew, they can pay a nominal fee to the writer. Good in theory, right? But most filmmakers expect you're so flattered you'll give away all those hours you toiled on the keyboard, gratis.

The Director too often is king and the lowly writer chump change.  I think the only way around that is to do it all yourself.

Either way, a lovely predicament.

Then if it were me, I would make an assessment of which one I felt was the most wualified/ready and go with them - just my opinion

I had that happen on Ready Or Not. About 5 people asked for it. I asked them all for links to their work. Whoever didn't have previous work I weeded out, and chose the one whose work I liked the best.

Seems like a sound approach to me
