-- That said, registering your screenplay doesn't equal to commercially owning your screenplay in the US -- the US is not a signatory of the Berne Convention. The only way to really truly protect your work globally is to register it with the Library of Congress. (Google Library of Congress + Copyright.)

Copyright is generally implied without registration. The WGA/American copyright stuff is generally more american.
