So, I've been working on my new website (via Wix). I do have one on strikingly but I'm tired of it. It's kind of boring and not very user friendly. I do plan on purchasing a domain once I can afford it so that the site is more SEO friendly -- no Wix adds or "wix" in the website link.
Just wanted people's opinions... is there anything else I should add? Any recommendations in regards to anything screenwriting? I was thinking of adding an "interviews" page with interviews (podcasts, articles, etc) I've done. Not sure if I'm missing anything.
I also plan on also starting a blog for the site once I do purchase a domain and upgrade my Wix plan.
1) As designed it's a great showcase for the produced work but I think it would benefit from a section on your available scripts and some samples of your actual writing. 2) The background image on the pages and overall look is very dark, makes it feel a little dense and in paces difficult to read/view. 3) Interview section I'd definitely add, Blog's a good idea too. 4) Somewhere, maybe in the About section, I'd state that you are available for hire/commission if you want encourage prospective Producer's to contact you re projects.

Hope that helps
Thanks, Anthony! Yeah, about the background, I think I might just boldface the white lettering to make it pop a little more. I'm just a fan of black, it looks cool to me, I dunno. But I definitely don't want people straining their eyes to read everything. I'll think more about that.
As for posting scripts there... hmm, I WAS thinking of posting a link to Simply Scripts. Not sure how many available scripts I have to post on there, most of it's under option already or they're scripts I was commissioned to write. I haven't really had the time for specs outside of "Honey Mustard", but I really would like to knock out two more this year once I get some time so that I have my "3" to pitch around. Maybe I'll leave a link to Simply Scripts on the "About" page and mention what you recommended.
I agree with Anthony that you should deffo have your available works on there somewhere for producers to read/enquire about.
I quite like the overall dark theme of the site though.
I would also have a short blurb about yourself on the homepage at the top that then links to the more detailed "about me" page. At the moment it looks more like a marketing website for the films rather than a marketing website for your screenwriting.
But I am certainly no expert on websites, or marketing for that matter
The answer to the question on whether or not it is optimal = it depends on what your objective is.
By way of example, I have a site (the link is my signature - below) that only really had one objective. That was to create an on-line inventory of my scripts. You know, something where my kids could go if I kicked the bucket to see what Dad wrote. The secondary objective was just to have one more back-up of my work should I suffer a major computer/data crash.
I have add a couple of things over the years as I was getting option requests through the site. Now, it is not nearly sophisticated as yours, but it meets my objective.
So, if your objective is to inform the public of your profile - I think what you has certainly does the trick. But if your objective is to sell scripts and services - less than optimal. IMO:
All your scripts should be here and sorted into categories - shorts/features
For each script there should be an easy one-clcik link to the actual script. Don't direct users to another site - many won't bother - they are on your site and expect to see it there.
There should be a SERVICES button that tells site viewers what services you offer (script reviews, ghostwriting, spec, etc. etc. ) and something regarding the rates - even if it is as simple as negotiated on a project by project basis. But be specific where you can - e.g., five page coverage report for $XX).
Long winded way of saying when I looked at the site it struck me as a perfect "about me" type site. It was less than optimal if it was a site designed to generate business.
Looks pretty good, I don't have much to add other than the fact that I also use Wix and have had the same site for years. I'm a big fan and find it really easy to use while still providing a professional looking site.
I have mine for two main reasons, to showcase my produced work and to host all of my available scripts in one easy to navigate place.
I'm still running the free version and as a hobbyist writer that's all I really need.

Part of the purpose of the site is sort of to be an "ABOUT ME". It's pretty much a CV. Now, I realize IMDB pretty much already has this information as far as produced works, but doesn't have some of the "in development" works. I do have a link that sends them to my scripts here on Simply Scripts. But I really don't have many that are available. I suppose I can post screenplays to some of the produced works, just as a sample. But most of my stuff is under contract. Or they're screenplays I really don't want to push and aren't great examples of my writing. I probably have three available feature scripts I can post (only one of them really is something that I'm super proud of). And I think I have like three shorts. I suppose I can post that, too. My goal was to show that I am an experienced writer that has a portfolio of produced films. The reason I've been able to get so much work lately is because of my record of produced films -- that's what has made people curious about checking out writing samples, but their minds were pretty much made up a page or two into a sample. That being said, I suppose it would be beneficial to post some samples right there, if they feel intrigued.
As of now, I have my services under "ABOUT ME" on the page. But I think I may make it its own category, perhaps with testimonials from people I've been hired by. Good suggestion!

Btw, do all of you supplement posters/images you do yourself with stock images from the net? Just curious.
If a poster has been specifically made for a film I'll use that, other than that it's all stock images. I have no idea how people make the stand in posters, they look pretty cool though.
