Hi, I'm an amateur or aspiring filmmaker or whatever you want to call it. I just finished a short film that I feel okay about and it was good practice, but now I want to do another short to try and work on my flaws. Just one more short digital film to make on my own before applying to film school. I am basically asking someone to either collaborate with me on a script or allow me to shoot one of their's.

The short I just finished recently can be viewed here:

http://blip.tv/file/543810/

or here:

http://onthelamproductions.blogspot.com

This was all shot on a Canon XL2 and we using digital lights for the lighting mostly.

The reason I am asking for help is because I have a hard time writing shorts because all my ideas end up expanding into bigger stories. This is something I have to work on. Writing for a small budget, limited resources, as well as developing characters and a good story within 10 minutes or so as well as maintaining an original idea. I'm never satisfied with my own screenplays enough to tackle them.

I'm mostly interested in Dramas, thrillers, horror, whatever. Any kind of cool story with good characters. I'm a big fan of Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky, and Park Chan-Wook as well as John Carpenter and Robert Rodriguez.

If anyone wants to work out a deal of some sort, let me know.

Less than free must be pretty cheap.

Less than free would mean it would cost something.

I think.

Yep.

That makes sense.

Would that make it a negative number?

Did you find a script?

Wouldn't a negative number mean padnar would have to pay you, Brendan?

The writer pays the director? No wonder there's a writer's strike.

Quoted from Shelton

Yes, ABSteel and I have been discussing Souvenir and I'm going to start looking for a cast soon.

Alright.  Just checking since these threads can sometimes fall off the wayside and leave writers hanging.

No one is laughing at you.  We thought what you had written was amusing.  And being the writers that we are we thought we would play with the words.  Welcome to SS padnar.

padnar, I didn't mean any offense to you. I was only joining in on all the random rambling. I haven't really discussed a price with ABSteel but it sounded like we're doing it for free. Both of us are roughly the same age and neither of us are professionals. We just want to make a movie. Plus there is no real buisness to be made in short films anyway. They're really just practice till the day you start doing feature length films.

That is why we talked about doing it for free and ended up joking around about it. I actually did pay someone for the last script I shot but I'm not sure it was really worth it in the end. Especially since it wasn't as good as this one.
