Hello, I'm going to try again here, cause I'm pretty sure you're out there. I am looking for a collaborator (separate to the Shorts I have in progress,) to begin writing a Feature length - Thriller, Suspense, genre pref. but I'm flexible - Romantic Comedy -Policitical Satire - if you've got a great idea, ok!  Doesn't matter what part of the country you live in - email is a wonderful thing! The idea is we'll begin with a blank slate - together! If this thread is responded to on the boards don't be put off - email me in the 'member centre. Look forward to hearing from you.

No offense LC, but who are you?

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Do you have any scripts posted?

Are you a filmmaker?  Or do you know someone who wants to make the film once the script is written?  Why do you want to write the script?  Why do you want to collaborate?

Have you read any scripts on this site?  Why not read some and contact the authors you think you want to work with?

Sorry if it seems like I'm asking lots of questions - but that probably is because I am.

I prefer to work with people I know and trust and I don't know you.

That may be how many people think.

Ok, perhaps, my choice of words: "I'm pretty sure you're out there" was not prudent. Creative types tend to have over-active imaginations, plus I've posted twice so maybe that raised a red flag.  All I meant was I'm pretty sure there are other people interested in working together on projects. Good results, even great ones, are often achieved through collaborations. My suggestion that we begin with a "clean slate" in my view indicated that no one party would have a clear advantage over the other. I have no wish to start a debate over the issue of "trust" and relationships forged over the internet. I'm putting myself 'out there' with this post, but I am not as trusting as you are - you choose to post your carefully crafted "babies" online & at this stage I do not. Fact is, I love writing, plain and simple, and I think I could benefit by writing with someone. I do not mean any disrespect, but please don't "punish" my post further by casting doubt where it's not warranted. Hopefully I'll get some genuine replies!

LC,

Didn't you wonder in the least why you got no response?  What Wesley and I were doing, in our own way, was explaining why.  This is a community.  People here are busy.   We get many requests to collaborate.  At best someone will get a couple of responses - but that is likely to be from people familiar with their work.   But even then requests for collaboration can go ignored.  In order to get what you what from this board, you must either make more of an effort to put yourself 'out there'  or you must get to know the writers here by reading some of their scripts and then request that they join you in your collaboration. There is a slight chance I could be wrong and you could get a response otherwise -- but I highly doubt it.

Good luck in the future,

Michael

LC,

Why not post some short scripts here so people will see your way of writing. You will get feedback and eventually you will know other writers.

Without having something to show what you're able to do, I hardly imagine someone will pop up and accept, unless you pay them.

Also another point would be if nobody has seen your writing, how do they know you will actually do any work or you can work together well?

Not everyone can work together.

Quoted from Old Time Wesley
Not everyone can work together.

I've been on this site for four years, or so, and if I had to make a list of those I would want to collaborate with on a feature, I doubt that the list would have more than three people in it.  While a part of this is out of trust, most of it come down to this:

Can I work with this person?

Would this person and I have the same vision and the same writing style to complete the script?  Or would the script look like it came from two different writers?  Examples of the latter include:  Joe Piscopo's Dead Heat and Keifer Sutherland's The Lost Boys.

In both of these movies, you can see the separate writers' vision.  Each movie switches from comedy to drama and back, almost from scene to scene.  And it doesn't look good.

Maybe someone will want to work with you if you post your work here.  Maybe someone will like your work enough to consider working with you.

I responded to LC short and seen a sample of LC writing. LC is a perfectly capable writer. LC can write a feature no problem.
