Okay I know I posted for help about a horror film, but we didn't all agree on it. This though, I would really like some help on. I've got this idea and already some basic outline ready, so if anyone is interested in writing a short film screenplay please respond to me or PM me. It's a drama/thriller, and I'd like it to be as long as possible. I'm aiming for like a short film, but if there is a writer who can expand a whole film out of this story, that would be amazing.
Basically what I've got is a short film version. It's about a hitman who is down on his luck and depressed, he's tired of his job. A mysterious man contracts him to kill a reporter because the reporter snuck into his little money laundering syndicate and now has all of their information, he wants to write a story and expose them. So the hitman is contracted to kill him.
Basically there is also a detective involved, who moved the reporter's family out and into custody. The detective is on his way to pick up the reporter, when the hitman arrives first. They talk, but the reporter ends up being killed. The detective then tracks down and finds the hitman, a "HEAT or COLLATERAL" type of showdown and the hitman is eventually killed.
That's the basics. Feel free to ask anymore questions, we'd like to get started shooting soon so if anyone is interested let me know!
Mods - I think this should be in the collaboration tab.
Anyway,
William you say you have a short film version that needs to be expanded, right? Do you have a script that you could put in the treatments tab? Are you aiming for 60mins?
I've just started to write on a new script, but put a small draft on the treatment section for all to see. Point out where you have disagreements with the others and maybe someone will get back to you if they are free and can help.
Hi there Will. Your story sounds very intriguing. I'm quite interested in working with you. Just a few questions though. Where abouts do you live? Have you written any screenplays before and if so, are there any posted on here? As you know, I'm trying to co-write a Chronicles of Wormwood adap, but so far nobody's interested in working with me. Don't feel bad if the same thing happens to you. If people don't want to work with you, that's there problem, not yours. All the best anyways.
Hey William, is there money involved in this writing project? What is the budget situation? What kind of release are you looking at? What is the time table?
I sent William a pm a couple of weeks ago and we've been exchanging emails about this. I've seen what he's got and I'm currently sketching out a draft for him.
Just to let you know that's probably the reason he hasn't been on this thread again.
Actually, what happens on this website is that everyone tends to commit to their own projects. A good majority of the writers who frequent this site and are regulars on the boards write solo and prefer it that way. About the only way you'd get someone to write something for you or with you is if there is some sort of production involved. That may sound self-centered, but I've got a stack of screenplays I've written on my own that are unproduced. Why would I be interested in adding to that stack AND work on someone else's story?
I assure you there's no offense intended if someone doesn't want to collaborate with you on a script. There are some rare instances where people will collaborate outside of a deal, and those happen, but for the average script? I'd rather work on my own stories...
I agree with you George. I'd rather write most of my screenplays on my own. Unless I get stuck and need someone else's angle on it or can't come up with a solid idea. Like my ideas for adapating Chronicles of Wormwood. I need someone who's read the comics, reads other comics and can do a decent adaptation of said comic. Plus someone who can write great comedy, which I can't.
