The night sky is clear and filled with stars. The finger nail moon hovers above Lake Simply, its reflection sparkles on the water.
A small beat up looking boat floats in the middle of the lake, it sways gently back and forth.
Inside the boat is the mutilated body of what appears to be a young naked woman. Her chest is split open, her rib cage exposed and her bowels spilled out
The young woman's face is sliced up which makes her unrecognizable. Her left eye ball is ripped out of its socket and her nose and lips are cut off.
INT. LOVISA HAMMARE'S HOUSE (BEDROOM) - MORNING
There is motion going on underneath the bed sheets, gasps and moans coincide with the vigorous movements. The moans from a male and female get louder and higher pitched, they turn into screams of pleasure. There is one last gasp. The movement stops.
TOMMY, 27, rolls over. He has short black hair and dark brown eyes. His skin is tan and his face is clean shaven.
Next to him lies LOVISA HAMMARE, 50, a big breasted blond with ocean blue eyes. Tommy turns to her.
TOMMY Why did you call me so late last night?
LOVISA Isn't it obvious?
TOMMY It was just really late.
LOVISA Did that bother you?
He laughs.
TOMMY No.
She moves closer to Tommy.
LOVISA You don't tell anyone about our little rendezvous's do you?
TOMMY No. Why?
LOVISA I don't know what people would think about me fucking someone half my age.
TOMMY Are you ashamed?
LOVISA It's not shame....it's....I don't know what it is.
She sits up in the bed.
LOVISA Why do you fuck me when you can fuck someone half my age?
TOMMY Because older woman know how to fuck, these young little bitches are all the same, they all sound the same, they all look the same. They bore me. Older women on the other hand are uninhibited.
Lovisa smiles.
LOVISA And so are young men.
Tommy gets up and puts on his pair of speedo underwear, a nest of pubic hair pokes out.
LOVISA You leaving already?
TOMMY I got some place I gotta be.
LOVISA It's only seven.
TOMMY It's an early meeting. I'm glad I came over though.
LOVISA I'm glad you came to.
Lovisa watches Tommy as he dresses.
INT. SIMPLY FOOD - MORNING
ANDREW, 47, sits alone in a booth of the smoke filled Diner. He's short, thin and going bald. He has a thick set of glasses that sit on top of his big nose. He drinks a cup of coffee as he reads through what looks like work papers. He takes out a cigarette and lights it up.
A man walks up and sits down across from him. Andrew jolts in his seat. The man across from him is MITCH COOPER, 34, also known as COOP. He's tall, fit and has a full head of bleach blond hair.
ANDREW You almost gave me a heart attack!
COOP Why's that? You got someone after you?
Andrew fidgets in his seat. He takes a drag from his cigarette.
COOP Are those my books you're working on?
ANDREW Yes, as a matter of fact it is.
COOP Give it to me straight. How screwed am I?
ANDREW Royally. You owe more money than you have.
COOP How the hell did that happen?
ANDREW Who did your books?
COOP I did.
ANDREW That's why.
Coop runs his hands through his blond hair.
In another booth, on the other side of the Diner sits DORIS KILMAN, 30's. She is very homely and wears no make up or jewelry. She is heavy set and her light brown hair is done up in a bun. In front of her is a glass of water and a plate of scrambled eggs and a piece of toast. She takes a fork and piles some of the eggs onto her toast. She shoves it into her mouth.
A WAITRESS walks up to her.
WAITRESS Are you finding everything okay?
DORIS (With a full mouth) Do you always make a habit of asking someone a question when their mouth is full.
WAITRESS I'm sorry.
Doris swallows her food.
DORIS To answer your question everything is adequate, nothing special.
WAITRESS Would you like some more coffee?
DORIS Do you see me drinking any coffee? I'm drinking water.
The waitress looks unimpressed.
WAITRESS Would you like some more water?
DORIS No.
The waitress turns around and storms away.
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY (BEACH) - MORNING
DENNIS MARK, late forties, walks along the beach with a cigar in his mouth. He wears a Hawaiian shirt and shorts. He stops and looks out onto the water.
There is a police boat in the middle of the lake.
A man in his late twenties jogs along the beach, it is MARK DONOVAN, he is tall and built. He gets closer to Dennis. He stops.
MARK Hey, What's going on out there?
DENNIS I'm not sure, can't be good though.
MARK What makes you think that?
DENNIS The Sheriff's out there. When was the last time a cop went some place because everything was hunky dory?
MARK I see your point.
DENNIS So you're a Brit?
MARK Yes.
DENNIS Let me ask you something. Is the Queen as stuck up as she looks.
At that moment a news van rolls up.
DENNIS Oooo this must be something bad.
MARK Why do you say that?
Dennis points to the van.
DENNIS It's the media.
INT. CHRISTIAN BLAINE'S HOUSE - MORNING
CHRISTIAN BLAINE, 20, lies on the couch in nothing but his boxers as he stares at the T.V. He's thin with a young face and shaggy blond hair. He has a joint in his mouth, he lights it up.
There is a knock at the door. Christian doesn't react, he just takes a toke. There is another knock.
CHRISIAN Fuck.
Another knock. Christian gets up slowly
CHRISTIAN I'm fucking coming Goddamnit!
He makes his way towards the door with the joint hanging out of his mouth. He opens it. Tommy stands before him.
TOMMY Hello Christian.
CHRISTIAN What the fuck dude, it's fuckin' early.
TOMMY You got my money?
CHRISTIAN Yeah, but you could have fuckin' waited till this afternoon ya know.
TOMMY I could have but I didn't. Where's my money?
CHRISTIAN Hold on to your panties, I'll get it..
Christian scratches his balls as he walks into another room.
TOMMY Why don't you put some clothes on while you're at it.
CHRISTIAN (O.S) Why don't you go fuck yourself!
Tommy looks over at the T.V. On the television there is a news flash. It's Lake Simply. It shows the police boat out on the water.
Christian returns with a wad of cash in his hands. He hands it to Tommy.
CHRISTIAN There you go asshole.
Tommy grabs Christian at the back of his neck.
TOMMY Listen here you little bitch. The only reason you're able to peddle your shit around is because of me so don't you forget it.
He lets go of him then takes the joint out Christian's mouth. He takes a hit, blows the smoke in Christian's face then hands it back.
TOMMY Have a great day.
Tommy turns around and leaves. Christian slams the door shut.
Tommy stands at the counter, as he plays with a coin in his hands. The WAITRESS, a cute blonde, pushes a coffee towards him.
WAITRESS Medium latte, that’s $4.50 please.
Tommy hands over a ten dollar bill.
TOMMY I know this is really random, but your nose looks so much like my sisters nose.
The Waitress looks inquisitively at Tommy, as she brings out change from the till.
TOMMY (CONT’D) It’s not a bad thing, it’s actually kinda cute.
The Waitress blushes as she hands Tommy change.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Sorry, I bet you always have boys telling you your nose is cute! Just ignore me!
WAITRESS Not many people tell me that actually.
The Waitress smiles. Tommy moves his face close to her. Pause.
TOMMY (whispering) Liar!
They both laugh. Tommy stops and looks down at his change.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Um, sorry. I gave you a twenty. I think you have given me the wrong change.
The Waitress opens the till.
WAITRESS I’m sure you gave me a ten...
Tommy moves closer to the Waitress.
TOMMY Hey, look at me. If you think I gave you a ten, then I believe you. I trust you, as I know you trust me. You trust me so much, you believe anything ... I ... say... (beat) I gave you a twenty.
Tommy moves back from her face, as the Waitress comes back to reality. She hands Tommy a twenty dollar bill.
WAITRESS Sorry about that, my mistake.
TOMMY Thanks. You have a good day now.
WAITRESS I’m supposed to say that to you!
TOMMY Too slow!
Tommy laughs as he walks away.
INT. ANDREW’S RESIDENCE - DAY
A stack of folders plonk down on a table. Andrew sits down in front of them. He talks to himself.
ANDREW He doesn’t even keep records of half the stuff he buys! How am I supposed to sort it all out, if he doesn’t keep records. Ridiculous.
Andrew sighs as he opens the top folder. He rifles through the papers inside.
ANDREW (CONT’D) Look at this! I can’t even read it, it’s so messy!
Andrew picks up a piece of paper from the folder. He reads from it.
ANDREW (CONT’D) “Be at the pier at nine tonight. We need to talk business.” (beat) Great. Now he is giving me little notes. Ridiculous.
INT. CHRISTIAN BLAINE'S RESIDENCE - DAY
Darkness. A light is flicked on. Christian stands at the door of a messy room full of measuring utensils, gas cookers, syringes and weed plants. He steps over large box’s on his way towards a cabinet.
He picks up a small plastic bottle from inside the cabinet. He takes a pill from it. Christian enters the
LIVING ROOM.
and walks over to his television. He puts a DVD in his DVD player. He sit’s on the sofa and presses play on the remote control. Moaning comes from the television.
Christian looks at the pill in his hand.
CHRISTIAN Hello Mr Ekky.
Christian swallows the pill. He nods at the television.
CHRISTIAN (CONT’D) Hello Ms Lovisa Hammare.
Christian looks down at his crotch.
CHRISTIAN (CONT’D) And hello, Benjamin The Third.
Christian slides a hand down his pants -
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY (BEACH) - MORNING
Mark Donovan pulls himself up and down, doing chin ups on horizontal pole. Sweat pours down his face, his muscles glisten in the sun.
In the background police cars are scattered around the shore of Lake Simply. PEOPLE talk to each other, and photographs are taken.
INT. LOVISA HAMMARE'S RESIDENCE (BEDROOM) - DAY
Lovisa lies in bed, a sheet barely covers her breasts. She looks at Tommy, who fiddles with a camera at the foot of the bed.
LOVISA We have to get this over by 6, I’m baby sitting Mrs Johnson’s children.
Tommy takes a sip of coffee.
TOMMY You betcha. I have stuff to do later anyway.
Tommy pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket. He looks at it quickly, before he stuffs it back in his pocket.
Tommy lines up the camera with the bed.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Now are we going to do what we were talking about yesterday?
LOVISA Nooo. It hurts. You don’t know how much it hurts.
TOMMY It won’t hurt. Trust me. I will be soft and slow.
Lovisa shakes her head. She pulls the sheets tighter around herself.
LOVISA No. I’m not doing it, and that’s final. This is my video, so I’m in charge.
Tommy sighs. He moves to the bed and sit’s down next to Lovisa.
TOMMY Okay we will try it another way then.
Tommy puts his hand on Lovisa’s left arm.
TOMMY (CONT’D) It would hurt right. Be painful. Like when you drop a plate on your toe right? Or when you cut yourself with a knife.
Lovisa nods. Tommy put’s his hand on Lovisa’s right arm.
TOMMY (CONT’D) You would like it to feel good wouldn’t you. Like how you feel when you eat chocolate. Or how you feel when you have a warm bath after a big day. They make you feel good, right?
Lovisa nods.
TOMMY (CONT’D) So what if we transfer that negative feeling -
Tommy touches Lovisa’s left arm.
TOMMY (CONT’D) - and make it a positive feeling.
Tommy touches Lovisa’s right arm.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Like chocolate. So now when you think of what we are going to do, what do you feel about it?
Tommy touches Lovisa’s right arm as she answers.
LOVISA Good. It will be good.
TOMMY Good girl! I knew we would get there at some point.
Lovisa smiles, then suddenly slaps Tommy in the face. She jumps on top of him, as she rips off his shirt.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Jesus woman! I haven’t even pressed record yet!
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY (BEACH) - AFTERNOON
The moon slowly disappears below the horizon.
FADE OUT.
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
Police tape covers the entrance to the pier.
A boat rocks slowly, as waves lap up against the beach. A voice can be heard. Through the darkness Andrew approaches the police tape. He talks to himself. He carries a handful of folders.
ANDREW “Oh Andrew, just come to the beach at night. When it’s dark. Yeah, it’ll be fine, don’t worry about a thing. I won’t tell you directly, just by some note... Oh, and did I tell you it will be dark?!” (beat) Ridiculous.
Andrew stands in front of the tape. He looks at his watch. It reads 9:02.
ANDREW (CONT’D) Great. Late.
Pause. Silence. Andrew hears feet scuffling a few metres away.
ANDREW (CONT’D) Hello? Who’s there? Is that you Coop?
Another scuffle. Silence.
ANDREW (CONT’D) Coop, seriously, just come out -
Suddenly Andrew’s face becomes rigid. Tommy stands behind him, a gun resting in the back of Andrew’s head.
TOMMY Are you Andrew?
ANDREW Umm, yeah! What are you doing?! I didn’t do anything wrong!
Tommy roughly grabs Andrew shoulder. He turns him around.
TOMMY You’re coming with me.
ANDREW No, no I’m not! Please! You can’t just -
TOMMY Yes I can. Because if you don’t come with me right now, we are both gonna die.
JOHNNY, a tall, dim-witted, unkempt man, 29, stands at the corner of an empty street. The ocean is heard in the background, calming the dark night.
Christian hurriedly walks down the street towards Johnny. He hands him a package as he moves past, while holding his other hand out for payment.
He shakes his hand toward Johnny.
CHRISTIAN What the fuck, Johnny. This isn't fuckin' Amsterdam.
JOHNNY Oh, right, bro. Sorry bro.
Johnny monotonously passes a wad of cash to Christian.
CHRISTIAN You dumb fuck. (shakes head) You shouldn't even be doing this shit, you should be at fuckin' day care.
JOHNNY Yeah, man, well... If you had this shit to me earlier maybe I would be feelin' better, yo.
CHRISTIAN Yeah, yeah. You know Tommy?
Johnny stares blankly.
JOHNNY Yeah.
CHRISTIAN Well, he was late on the delivery. But I'm sure even that chirpy cunt has to answer to someone.
EXT. POINT VIEW WALK - NIGHT
Dennis and Mark stumble alongside each other down the middle of the road. Dennis with a bottle of Jamesons on hand, stops.
DENNIS Where are we?
Dennis explodes into laughter, and Mark giggles uncontrollably.
DENNIS (CONT'D) You really got on it tonight, didn't you?
MARK Do I have a British accent? Of course I bloody got on it. (laughs) I got on it, and I rode it all night long.
They burst into laughter again.
It dies down.
MARK (CONT'D) But seriously, I will need to spend an extra ten hours in the gym to work this stuff off. Dennis laughs, barely, he is laughed out.
EXT. DOCK - NIGHT
Tommy RUNS from the dock onto the beach, towards the shelter of the forest. Andrew pants as he struggles behind him.
TOMMY Come on! We have to be quick.
EXT. TREES NEAR BEACH - MOMENTS LATER
The moon beams over the sea, the beach, and through the trees.
Tommy motions to the ground of dirt.
TOMMY Have a seat.
ANDREW No thank you. (adjusts glasses) Now, what is this all about?
TOMMY Okay. You know the woman who was murdered?
ANDREW Yes - I mean, not personally, but I know that a woman was killed. Get to the point!
TOMMY Well, we are next!
Andrew doesn't look convinced.
ANDREW And how is that? Did the killer tell you?
TOMMY As a matter of fact, yes. I have been receiving strange letters and was told to come to the pier tonight. I made prior arrangements, in case anything unsavory should take place. But now I've drafted a new plan.
ANDREW I received a note too.
TOMMY Hmm...
ANDREW How did you know I wasn't the one after you?
TOMMY Well, you looked unarmed and like a lost sheep. (laughs) So, I assumed we had both been set-up.
ANDREW This all seems a little too convenient. Where is our stalker?
TOMMY You can wait around to find out, or you can get on the boat I left out on the water. Andrew looks yonder. Spots the large white boat in the distance.
TOMMY (CONT'D) I hope you brought your swimming trunks. (pauses) Or do I?
ANDREW Right. How did I get messed up in all this again?
TOMMY I am going to get the police down here, and meet you at the small cove to the east. We can hide out there until this passes over.
ANDREW Ridiculous.
TOMMY Look at the pier.
They both gaze over and notice TWO DARK-CLOTHED MEN, one short, the other tall. With small flash lights they wander down the pier.
ANDREW OK. I'm going.
Tommy passes his impressive watch and wallet to Andrew.
TOMMY Consider it insurance. Trust me, and we will get through this. Andrew stuffs them into his jacket.
ANDREW Is the watch waterproof?
TOMMY Dont worry about that. I'm going through to the other side. I'll see you soon. Tommy runs off, deeper into the trees.
INT. DORIS' LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
The room is decorated with various religious ornaments, and has a distinctly cluttered, and badly decorated feel.
Doris walks into the room holding up a broom.
She creeps behind a sofa and STRIKES the wall behind with the broom.
DORIS Spiders!
STRIKES again.
DORIS (CONT'D) Satan's little helpers.
She WHACKS the floor now.
DORIS (CONT'D) (shouts) How dare you unholy children of lucifer come into my blessed house.
She swings the broom violently around the room, moving with it, and hitting everything in range.
The broom drops to the floor. She sighs, and her heavy breathing slows.
She looks to a book on a small table in the corner of the room. It reads'Holy Bible'.
EXT. BOAT - NIGHT
Andrew climbs up a short ladder, out of the water, and into the boat.
Drenched with water, he wrings out his shirt.
He pulls his glasses out of his trousers. Broken.
Andrew sighs.
ANDREW This just doesn't feel right. (looks around) I need a fucking cigarette. First things first.
Andrew hustles around the boat, checking every compartment, drawer and corner.
He looks under the bed in the lower cabin.
On the deck again, Andrew laughs at himself.
EXT. POINT VIEW WALK - NIGHT
Dennis is lying in the gutter, laughing.
Mark tries to pull him up by the arm.
MARK Get up!
Pulls harder.
MARK (CONT'D) Get up!
Dennis laughs, and curls up to get comfortable.
From a window of a house, a woman covered in shadow watches.
A light from the house appears. Doris watches, menacingly.
EXT. BOAT - NIGHT
Andrew hears splashing water. Races to the side of the boat.
A WOMAN appears, she climbs up the ladder, gasping for air.
She has long brown hair, likened to that of a mermaid. She wears a dress, and clutches her purse.
Andrew helps her to a seat at the edge of the boat.
ANDREW What happened to you? Are you okay?
She coughs
WOMAN Thank God you were here.
ANDREW Yes. Hopefully we have nobody else to thank.
WOMAN (laughs) What do you mean?
Andrew shrugs.
ANDREW (smiles) Nothing.
ANDREW (CONT'D) So what happened?
WOMAN I was on a boat with some friends, when there was a loud thud from the bottom of the boat, we started rocking and I fell overboard. The next thing I know, I was trying to keep myself afloat, and there was no boat in sight.
Andrew looks concerned.
WOMAN (CONT'D) Until yours that is. (beat) Is it okay if I use your bathroom?
ANDREW Certainly. But we are leaving in a moment. I will explain where we are going when you get back.
WOMAN OK.
She stands, and makes her way down to the lower cabin.
ANDREW Oh, what's your name? I'm Andrew.
GISELLE Giselle.
EXT. POINT VIEW WALK - NIGHT
A police siren can be heard.
Dennis turns to the sound.
DENNIS Huh?
A police car races down the street, it screeches to a stop where Mark and Dennis walk.
An OLD POLICE OFFICER and a YOUNG POLICE OFFICER emerge from the car. They equip their pistols and move in on the drunks.
OLD POLICE OFFICER Get down!
The younger police officer kicks Mark in the side. He keels over.
OLD POLICE OFFICER (CONT'D) Get down! Now!
Mark lies flat on his chest.
The young police officer cuffs Mark from the back.
OLD POLICE OFFICER (CONT'D) Mark Donovan, you are under arrest. You are being charged with murder of the first degree. You have the right to remain silent, Should you, however refuse this right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Dennis vomits on the road.
OLD POLICE OFFICER (CONT'D) You have the right to an attorney, If you can not afford an attorney, One will be provided to you by the court. Do you understand what I have just told you?
EXT. BOAT - NIGHT
Andrew gets out of the shower, and puts a towel on. He walks to the stairs.
ANDREW Giselle? (looks to the kitchen) Giselle, are you here?
He walks up the stairs to the deck.
ANDREW (CONT'D) (shouts) Giselle?
He hurries to the edge of the boat.
He sees a large boat in the distance with a single small light beaming from the top of it. A shadow of a large figure steering the ship is seen.
In the distance, a small flashlight shines on the boat's ladder as a woman climbs on.
The boat starts, and speeds off, out of sight, in the other direction.
Andrew darts his eyes around in confusion. Bewildered, he turns and freezes.
From the distance, Andrew's boat EXPLODES in a mass of fire. Fiery shards spark up the sky, and litter the ocean.
Giselle climbs up the ladder of a large ocean going yacht. She throws her purse on the deck, rings out her dripping hair. In the BG, the dark sky is ablaze with fire, as what’s left of Andrew’s boat sinks into the lake.
From the bridge, a flashlight beam shines down on her, making it impossible to see who’s at the helm.
She smiles, does a pirouette, hands seductively above her head.
GISELLE Just like you said, Baby…no problemo. I think I should have set the timer a little longer though. That was quite a swim.
She pulls off her dress, exposes a voluptuous body that men drool over. Her body glistens in the moonlight.
GISELLE You ready to eat my baby pussy now? She’s nice and wet…just the way you like her.
She rings her hair again, and cups her more than abundant breasts. A wicked smile forms on her lips, as she playfully massages herself.
GISELLE What’s a matter? Cat got your tongue? I know you like it when…
BANG! BANG!
Two large caliber bullets SMASH into her face. Her beauty’s gone in a flash.
She spins over backward from the impact, and flies into the lake.
For a few seconds, she bobs up and down in the water, as blood pours from the two holes in her ruined face. Seconds later, she sinks slowly out of sight.
The yacht quickly pulls away, heads west, away from town.
INT. DORIS’ RENTED HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT
Doris sits in bed, eyes closed. Her Bible rests in her lap. Her cell phone RINGS from the bedside table.
She opens her eyes, groggily grabs the phone, listens in silence.
DORIS Yes, I know.
She slowly strokes her Bible with her free hand.
DORIS Yes, what did I just say? I realize that…do I need to repeat myself again?
Her fingers draw circles over the leather cover…faster…and faster.
DORIS No, not yet…I’ve still got quite a bit of work to do. Lots of sinners, as you know damn well.
Her fingers stop suddenly. A frown forms on her lips.
DORIS Don’t call me again at this hour. You understand me? I’m already in bed. We’ll talk tomorrow…I’ll call you.
EXT. BEACH – MORNING
A small crowd has gathered along the beach. A police boat pulls up alongside the dock.
Two OFFICERS carry a body bag to a waiting ambulance.
SHERIFF HAWKINS and Coop watch from a few feet away.
COOP What the fuck is going on here, Hawk? That’s the second in two days. I can’t fucking believe this.
Hawkins rubs his face, frowns.
HAWKINS This is between you and me, OK?
Coop nods.
HAWKINS It’s the third, actually. We pulled a girl out of the water a few hours ago, upstream.
COOP Huh? Are you fucking me?
HAWKINS I wish…not literally, of course, but…shit…you know what I mean.
COOP What’s the deal?
Hawkins puts his arm around Coop’s shoulder, leads him back toward Simply No Escape.
HAWKINS Listen, Mitch, I need to ask you a few questions.
COOP Huh? C’mon, you and me go way back. You don’t think…
HAWKINS No, definitely not. I just need your help.
INT. SIMPLY NO ESCAPE – MOMENTS LATER
Coop slams his fist down on the desk in front of him.
COOP Shit! We just got that boat in last month. Are you sure? You know what that thing cost?
HAWKINS Yeah, my boys are pulling up what’s left of it now. We think the girl was a separate homicide though…no burns or anything like the guy we just brought in.
Coop shakes his head.
HAWKINS You know who rented it out?
COOP Sure do…that fucking slime bag Tommy. Was he the body you just brought in?
HAWKINS Doesn’t look like it, but it’s in pieces, so we can’t be too sure yet. Listen, I need you to come clean with me for a second…off the record of course.
COOP Oh boy, here we go…
HAWKINS We ID’d the girl earlier. A jet setter from Rio…Giselle Santiago. She checked into a nice house on the beach three days ago. You happen to run into her, big guy?
Coop’s eyes go wide.
COOP Giselle? No…
HAWKINS Yeah, what can you tell me? I figured you of all people would have made your acquaintance with a stunner like that.
Coop rubs his eyes, sits down, head in hands.
COOP Oh God…yeah, I did meet her. She came in here two days ago, asking about the depth of the water off the beach, fishing, and also about neighboring islands and other places to dock a big yacht. You know, shit like that.
HAWKINS And?
COOP And…uh…yeah, I spent the night with her, night before last. Fuck, she was a wild one. My God, talk about a stunner? Man, Hawk, I was in fuckin’ Heaven with her.
Hawkins slaps Coop’s shoulder.
HAWKINS Well, old friend, that doesn’t surprise me in the least. I’m sorry, buddy. You hear anything last night? We got a call from Lovisa around 9:30, saying she saw a big explosion out on the water.
Coop stands up, paces back and forth.
COOP Ya know, I actually think I did. I was in bed, passed out early, but I did wake up around then. I was still spent from the prior night, so I fell right back to sleep, but I’m pretty sure I did hear something. God, I can’t believe this…
HAWKINS OK, just come by the station later and give us a report, if you could.
INT. LOVISA HAMMARE’S HOUSE – BEDROOM – CONTINUOUS
Lovisa walks away from the bed, buck naked, her big breasts leading the way.
LOVISA You told me it wasn’t going to hurt yesterday. You’re full of shit! It hurt this morning too. And I’m tired of that 70’s afro you’re wearing around your cock and balls. In Sweden, the men are all nicely groomed…shaved even. I’m going to shave you and maybe I’ll even film it. How do you like the sound of that?
Tommy looks down at himself, under the covers, winces, and starts to laugh.
TOMMY You’re funny, Lov. Really funny. You serious about my pubes? Think I need an update?
Lovisa stands in front of a big mirror, examining herself. She holds in her stomach, flexes her pecs, and smiles.
LOVISA 50 years old, and look at me. It’s the Swedish blood, I tell you. Fucking a 27 year old conman with a 70’s afro on his balls. This could be a movie.
TOMMY It’s a number of movies…what the fuck are you talking about? You really think I need to shave this back, huh?
Lovisa turns, a snarl on her lips.
LOVISA Listen, Mr. Tommy You fuck with me, and I’ll kill you. Plain and simple. Any of this ever goes anywhere other than your VCR…or my VCR, and you’re Swedish meatballs. And yes, please shave that forest, or I’ll do it for you while you’re passed out some night.
Tommy looks on with a scowl. He jumps out of bed and wraps his arms around her. He playfully plants kiss after kiss on the back of her neck, while she continues to watch in the mirror.
TOMMY Relax now, my love. Let’s do it one more time…from behind. Hunch down a bit.
Lovisa stiffens up, bucks back against him.
LOVISA No, Tommy, no more now. I told you I’m sore…and I think you’re giving me a rash with those spiky pubes. Sherriff Hawkins is coming by in a bit, anyway. I told you about last night before you showed up, right?
Tommy pulls back, eyes wide.
TOMMY Huh? What the fuck? You didn’t tell me anything. What’s going on?
Lovisa turns to face him, flexes her pecs again. She lets out a laugh.
LOVISA I look so good, don’t I? I thought I told you…I saw an explosion last night, out on the water. After that, I heard gunshots. Something’s not right here.
Tommy looks on, a shocked look on his face.
TOMMY Huh? Are you serious? You didn’t tell me.
LOVISA I think my mouth was full once you showed up…no?
TOMMY Shit…I gotta get the fuck outta here.
He grabs his clothes, strewn on the floor, starts putting them on. As he pulls on his Speedo’s, he laughs.
TOMMY You know, you’re right. I’ll shave this shit off. What the fuck was I thinking?
Lovisa looks down at his hairy crotch, smiles, also starts laughing.
LOVISA Good, you’ll look a lot bigger on the movies, too. Trust me…it will help.
Mark stands by the entrance of the cell whilst Dennis lays slumped on a bench asleep, a puddle of urine formed around his crotch.
MARK This is bullshit! I want to know who I killed. Hello?... For fuck's sake.
Mark walks back to where Dennis sleeps. He shunts Dennis' legs out the way, and takes a seat next to him.
Dennis opens his eyes and takes in his surroundings. He sits up in pain and rubs his head.
DENNIS Where the hell are we?
MARK Police station.
DENNIS Shit... What did we do?
Dennis touches the stain around his groin. He smells his fingers and winces.
MARK Well you thought it would be a good idea to piss on someone's front door.
DENNIS Oh... So what are they charging with?
MARK You? Drunk and disorderly and indecent exposure. Me? Murder.
DENNIS Murder? Shit. Thats fucked up.
MARK You're telling me.
DENNIS So who'd you kill?
MARK I wish I knew mate, I wish I knew.
INT. CHRISTIAN BLAINE'S HOUSE - DAY
A hand lights a match and then sparks up a bong.
Christian sits on his couch and smokes a bong shaped like a giant black penis. He wears a shiny sequined pink thong which proudly displays a large bulge around his groin.
Suddenly Coop bursts through the front door. He's flustered. Christian looks up surprised to see him.
CHRISTIAN Hey Coop man, that's not cool. Haven't you heard of knocking?
COOP What?
CHRISTIAN You can't just come in here like the damn five-o. For all you know I could have been naked.
Coop looks at Christian who might as well be naked. An awkward beat ensues as the confused Coop looks at the slack jawed Christian.
COOP I'm sorry. Look, how much would you give me for a passport?
CHRISTIAN A passport?
COOP Yeah.
CHRISTIAN Let me see it first.
Coop produces a tattered passport from his jacket pocket and hands it to Christian. Christian flicks through it.
CHRISTIAN (CONT'D) It's a little damaged... Okay, it's Brazilian. That's good, it's hard to trace.
Christian stops at the passport holder's picture: It's Giselle.
CHRISTIAN (CONT'D) Giselle Santiago... Hmm... I'll give you 500 for it.
COOP 500?! Sure.
Christian pulls a roll of notes from his thong which causes the previously large bulge to disappear. Christian peels five $100 bills from the roll and hands them to a disgusted Coop.
INT. SIMPLY POLICE (HAWKINS' OFFICE) - DAY
Lovisa sits opposite Hawkins in an ordinary, dull office.
LOVISA Do you think all the killings are linked?
HAWKINS We're not too sure yet. We've arrested someone in connection with the mutilated Jane Doe we found out at sea the other day. Traces of his semen were found inside her. We're waiting for him to sober up before we interrogate him.
LOVISA So you don't think he killed the others?
HAWKINS It's unlikely. We picked him up a few minutes before your call to us last night. That doesn't mean he wasn't connected.
LOVISA I see. (a beat) Look David, we can sit around here all day talking about murders, or we can get on with what we both know I came here for... To suck your big hairy dick the way your wife can't.
Hawkins smiles as Lovisa disappears under his desk.
INT. DORIS KILMAN'S HOUSE (KITCHEN) - DAY
Doris sits at her kitchen table. She scribbles into a notepad which sits beside her bible.
DORIS The seventh of the 10 commandments... Thou shall not commit adultery.
Into her notepad beneath the title "LIST OF SINNERS" Doris writes: SHERIFF DAVID HAWKINS (ADULTERY).
DORIS (CONT'D) My my, we do have a lot of sinners in this town.
INT. LOVISA HAMMARE'S HOUSE (LIVING ROOM) - DAY
A naked Lovisa sits at a computer, a video editing programme open. She clicks a few buttons and a porno plays. Her hand slides down to her groin as she massages herself to the video.
On screen a threesome between Lovisa, Coop and Giselle is in full swing. Lovisa's head is between Giselle's legs, who moans with passion whilst Coop jacks himself off in the background.
Back in the room Lovisa starts to climax, but a knock at her door brings her back to reality.
She pauses the video, and answers the door to find Tommy standing there holding a huge double ended dildo.
Lovisa grins.
LOVISA Just in time.
She grabs Tommy and pulls him inside. She slams the door shut behind him and throws him onto a leather couch.
TOMMY Woah, woah. Chill out there hot mama.
Lovisa jumps on top of Tommy.
LOVISA Tommy, shut up, and fuck me.
Lovisa fumbles with Tommy's belt as he buries his face in her large breasts.
Sheriff Hawkins walks down the corridor to visit suspected murderer Mark Donovan. Before turning the corner, Hawkins adjusts his pant’s crotch and smiles.
HAWKINS Dennis, did you really have to piss on Doris Kilman’s door last night?
DENNIS Look at my pants! That lady needs to lighten up -- a lot!
HAWKINS I got enough problems following up on complaints from her already.
DENNIS Screw Doris and her dry clitoris!
HAWKINS Dennis, you haven’t changed one bit.
Hawkins chuckles and stares at Mark.
HAWKINS Well, Dennis you can go. You’re released on a signature bond. Mark here is going to need a lawyer to get him out of here.
MARK Bloody hell. You haven’t told me why I’m standing in your piss stained jail cell. Sorry Dennis I can be a wanker sometimes.
Dennis shrugs his shoulders.
HAWKINS We’ll get to that in a moment…
DENNIS We were together all day yesterday! I can vouch for him!
HAWKINS I know. We’ll take care of Mark while we get this thing figured out.
DENNIS (exiting) Hey buddy, I’ll be back to check on you tomorrow!
HAWKINS I need some information Mark. Let’s make a deal.
MARK What you have in mind mate?
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY (BEACH) – NIGHT
The gulls float with wings spread. Pelicans sit nonplussed on the pier. Another hot day fades into a colorful sky as the orange sun sets low on the horizon.
INT. SIMPLY JAVA – NIGHT
Dennis sits alone in the café drinking coffee. He pops a few aspirin. Clean shaven and fresh clothes. He writes on several pieces of paper.
Coop enters and sits by Dennis.
DENNIS Hey Coop. If someone were to yell “free pussy,” would it be funnier at a bordello or a wedding reception?
COOP I dunno Dennis. The bordello I guess.
DENNIS I am going with wedding reception.
COOP Why did you ask me then?
DENNIS I like fucking with you. So what do you need this time Coop? More money? What?
COOP You know me, I always need money. But I’ll be fine after tonight.
DENNIS Don’t tell me you’re going to that punk Tommy with Christian by yourself? Every time I see Tommy I have to check my dick to make sure it’s still there. And Christian, don’t get me started on that boy genius.
COOP Say, while you were in jail did that guy you were with, Mark Donovan, did he get charged with the killing spree around here?
DENNIS You know Hawkins. Ask him.
COOP Just do me a solid. What’s the scoop?
DENNIS He confessed to all of it. Pitiful really. You should see it on the news soon.
COOP That’s terrific! It’s all falling together eh Dennis?
DENNIS Just don’t go to see Tommy… without a gun.
EXT. CHRISTIAN’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Tommy walks like he has a sore ass down Christian’s driveway. Against the night, the house lights glow warmly. He knocks on the back door. Several times. The door opens. Tommy breezes in past Christian who holds a lit joint.
INT. CHRISTIAN’S HOUSE (KITCHEN) – NIGHT
CHRISTIAN You got it?
TOMMY No, but I have something better.
CHRISTIAN What?
TOMMY I need you to pick something up for me.
CHRISTIAN Would you quit playing with me? You know I hate that. Only Mr. Ekky gets to play with me.
TOMMY Mr. who?
CHRISTIAN Never mind. Why can’t you get it yourself?
TOMMY Because I have to get back to Lovisa. Her motor is running hot tonight. And it’ll be on vid-e-o.
Tommy is clearly pleased with himself. He looks at his watch impatiently.
CHRISTIAN I want to meet Lovisa.
TOMMY (lightly singing) Get it for me and you’ll get lots of money.
CHRISTIAN Alright, but I want to meet Loivsa at Simply Funny…soon!
TOMMY Deal… You’ll go to Andrew’s house and retrieve a certain briefcase for me.
CHRISTIAN (puffing the joint) Awesome dude. I’ll be “the boy who could fly” and swoop in and snatch the briefcase.
Tommy leaves in a hurry, at least as fast as his sore ass allows.
Christian dials his cell phone once Tommy is gone.
CHRISTIAN Yeah Coop, it’s me. Dennis was right. Tommy’s going for Andrew’s money and files.
EXT. ANDREW’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Coop sits in the bushes across from Andrew’s house. He looks at his watch: Midnight. The ink-like darkness hides everything from sight. He sees a flashlight glow by the front door.
A hand presses on Coop’s shoulder.
COOP (whispers intently) What the Hell!
CHRISTIAN Hey my frenemy.
COOP I thought you were going in?
CHRISTIAN Nope. Just got here.
COOP Then who the hell is out there?
The house explodes like a pyromaniac’s Fourth of July wet dream. In the flash of light, the police car assigned to Sheriff Hawkins sits as falling debris lands on the car causing a second explosion.
Coop and Christian are knocked down by the dual shock waves. They quickly get up and haul ass out of there.
CHRISTIAN Tommy’s going to have some explaining to do!
COOP Dennis too!
Christian stops running. So does Coop.
CHRISTIAN You think Tommy and Dennis did this together?
COOP Shit we’re screwed!
CHRISTIAN No time to talk. Cops will be here. Go! GO!
INT. SIMPLY FUNNY (STAGE) – CONTINUOUS
Dennis performs onstage for the last show of the night. His grin matches the crowd’s enthusiastic applause.
INT. LOVISA’S HOUSE (BEDROOM) – CONTINUOUS
Lovisa lays awake next to a snoring Tommy. When the explosions echo in the night she smiles. Tommy has an erection and continues to snore. She pulls out a pair of scissors and gently trims his pubic hairs.
INT. SIMPLY POLICE (HOLDING CELL) - CONTINUOUS
Mark wakes up from a fitful sleep. Mark helplessly listens as the sheriff’s deputies frantically run to their squad cars.
INT. DORIS’S HOUSE (BEDROOM) – CONTINUOUS
The explosions do not disturb Doris’s golden slumber.
Christian paces the room, dressed in a pink silk robe. He looks pale.
A news report plays on the TV. A TV REPORTER talks the camera. The smoking, charred rubble, all that remains of Andrew's house, is behind her. A forensics team is busy at work.
Christian talks into a phone.
CHRISTIAN It's been on the news all morning, man! It's everywhere, cops swarming all over the place...we are so fucked.
INT. COOP'S HOUSE - KITCHEN
Coop, on the other end of the line, leans against a counter.
COOP We're not fucked, Christian. We're gonna fix this.
INTERCUT between them.
CHRISTIAN Tommy and Dennis tried to kill us, Coop! They wanted us inside the house when that bomb went off. And have you actually been watching the news? The guy who died in that boat explosion was Andrew. Andrew, man! The guy's house we were in the process of breaking into! It's not safe here anymore. I'm bailing.
COOP No! You stay where you are. I'm gonna go down to the police station, talk to the sheriff. I gotta speak with Mark Donovan. He was with Dennis the night Andrew was killed...maybe he'll know something.
Christian laughs.
CHRISTIAN Didn't you see the squad car there last night, man? The Sheriff's toast!
Coop smiles, shakes his head.
COOP You don't know the Hawk. You can't kill him that easy. I'll talk to him, explain about Tommy and Dennis, sort this whole thing out. Get your shit together, okay? Have a drink, smoke some dope, watch some porn - just relax.
CHRISTIAN If this isn't sorted by tonight...I'm outta here.
COOP We'll talk later.
Coop hangs up, sighs.
Christian throws the phone onto the sofa, takes a joint of his pocket. He lights it and takes a long drag, looks at the TV. A picture of Andrew is onscreen.
CHRISTIAN (shaking his head) We are so fucked.
INT. DORIS' RENTED HOUSE - HALLWAY - MORNING
A short, sharp knock at the door. Doris appears, walks up, looks through the spyhole, opens it.
REVEREND DOUGLAS, 55, waits on the porch. Doris nearly smiles when she sees who it is. Nearly.
DORIS Reverend Douglas! I had no idea that -
REV. DOUGLAS Surprise! I just wanted to check how my favourite volunteer's vacation is going. May I come in?
DORIS Of course. Come right this way.
He steps inside. Doris shuts the door. They walk down the hallway into the --
LIVING ROOM
Doris enters, gestures towards an armchair.
DORIS Please, sit.
REV. DOUGLAS Thank you.
Rev. Douglas sits. Doris seems nervous, excited.
DORIS Do you like my altar?
She gestures towards a table that has been adapted into a make-shift altar. It is covered in a white cloth, and on it are religious books, candles, and a big, heavy, iron crucifix on a stand.
DORIS I pray here for six hours a day. They don't even have a church here, Reverend. What kind of town doesn't have a church?
Rev. Douglas ignores her, speaks calmly but firmly.
REV. DOUGLAS Doris, come sit down. We need to talk.
A confused and fearful Doris sits.
REV. DOUGLAS Your mother came to me yesterday. She said she spoke with you on the phone a few nights ago, and you seemed agitated. Are you alright, Doris? Is there something you want to tell me?
Doris can't meet his gaze.
INT. SIMPLY POLICE - RECEPTION - MORNING
Coop enters. The building is buzzing, phones ringing non-stop. The cop behind the desk looks overwhelmed.
Coop walks up to him.
COOP Morning, I'm looking for -
HAWKINS (O.S.) Coop!
Coop turns at the familiar voice. Hawkins walks in through the entrance. Coop smiles.
COOP Hawk, you sly bastard! I knew you'd be okay.
HAWKINS Yeah, one of my deputies was covering my shift. I was due back on about five minutes after the place blew - talk about lucky, huh? (checks his watch) What can I do you for, Coop? We've kinda got a lot on here...
COOP I need to talk to you about Tommy and Dennis. You've got the wrong man, Hawk - Mark's innocent.
Hawk leads him aside, talks in a hushed voice.
HAWKINS We know.
Coop is taken aback.
COOP You know?! But I heard that Mark confessed to -
HAWKINS It's not that simple...look, why don't the three of us talk. I need to tell you what's going on.
INT. DORIS' RENTED HOUSE - LIVING ROOM
Rev. Douglas and Doris are mid-argument. He remains seated, but she roams the room.
REV. DOUGLAS Calm down, Doris! We sent you here for you to rest and relax after what you'd been through, not to agitate you further! We thought this place would do you good...
DORIS Good? Here? This place is Sodom, Reverend! It is Gomorrah! It is an antediluvian world, peopled by the children of Cain!
She rushes over to a cabinet, retrieves her notebook. She thrusts it at Rev. Douglas, urges him to look at it.
DORIS (CONTD.) They think no-one watches, but I see, and God sees! They lie, they cheat, they fornicate and they steal. They live without shame or remorse, taking as much pleasure in the act of committing sin as in the sinful acts they commit! Don't you see, Reverend? God drowned the entire world in order to halt the spread of evil. Sinners must be punished - it is the Lord's way!
REV. DOUGLAS I've heard about the murders in this town. Doris, do you swear you had nothing to do with them?
DORIS An angel of death walks these streets. A blessed warrior, the fire and the brimstone, the cleansing flood! It would be an honour to serve the Lord by punishing those who shun him. Why can you not see that?!
Doris turns away, walks towards her make-shift altar. Rev. Douglas stands.
REV. DOUGLAS Doris, please try to calm down. (beat) I hear you've stopped seeing your psychiatrist and taking your medication. We only want to help you.
DORIS (spinning round) You can't help me! No-one can. Only God can help me, only God understands me. And I can do nothing for Him in return. I can't sing, I can't write hymns, I will never have children to put into His service...all I can offer is this.
REV. DOUGLAS You are not God, Doris. None of us are. Who are we to attempt to understand His ways? Yes, there is sin in the world. But sinners can repent, can they not? Those who have strayed can be lead back to the path. And there is so much good in the world, Doris! So much kindness, and love, and compassion. It is not all evil.
Doris has turned to face her altar once more. Rev. Douglas approaches, his voice soothing.
REV. DOUGLAS Come back home with me. Let's get you some help.
Doris shoulders shake. She strokes the iron face of Jesus, tears in her eyes.
DORIS I have...nothing...but this. This is my calling. My purpose. I cannot allow you to stand in my way.
REV. DOUGLAS What do you mean by -
Doris spins round, the heavy cross in her hand. It WHACKS into the side of Rev. Douglas' head. He falls with a grunt.
Blood begins to trickle out from his head into the carpet. Tears begin to trickle down Doris' cheeks.
The cross falls out of her hands, hitting the floor with a THUD that ECHOES LOUDLY.
INT. SIMPLY POLICE - CORRIDOR - MORNING
Coop and Hawkins walk down the corridor towards the holding cells. Cops are everywhere.
HAWKINS Never had a week like this before. Three bodies in three days, houses and yachts blowing up all over the place...it's crazy.
COOP That reminds me, I meant to ask...you ID'd the first body yet? From what I heard, it was in one helluva state.
HAWKINS We got her name this morning, actually. No-one local, some out-of-town, twenty-something girl called...Annika. Yeah, that was it: Annika Stephenson. Funny name, huh?
Coop suddenly stops, and stands frozen still, eyes wide, swaying as if he's about to faint.
HAWKINS Coop?
Coop staggers backwards, into the wall, and slides to the floor. Hawkins crouches beside him.
COOP No. No. It can't be.
HAWKINS Coop! What the hell's wrong?
COOP (a murmur) I don't believe it...it's not possible...
HAWKINS What's not possible?
COOP She found her...after all these years, she found her...
HAWKINS Who found who? What are you talking about?
Coop looks up at Hawkins with wide eyes.
COOP Brace yourself, Hawk. This is big.
HAWKINS Just tell, me, goddammit.
Coop breathes in deeply, exhales.
COOP Hardly anyone in Lake Simply knows this, but twenty, maybe twenty five years ago, Lovisa...had a child. Two, in fact. Twins, a boy and a girl.
HAWKINS What?! Who was the father?
COOP Somebody from outta town, I think. Said he wanted to have nothing to do with it. Lovisa's life was in a pretty messed state at the time so she put them up for adoption, found a nice couple up in Maine. She agreed to sever all contact with the children, on one condition.
Coop pauses. Hawkins urges him on.
HAWKINS Which was?
COOP She got to choose their names. The boy was called after her father, Johan, and the girl after her grandmother...Annika.
The harsh, pale light of dawn breaks over Hawkins' face.
HAWKINS Oh my God, it couldn't have been...
COOP I think it was, Hawk. That girl, Annika, who you found out on the lake, all hacked up and mutilated...I think that was Lovisa Hammare's daughter.
Tommy sleeps on the bed. He’s buck-naked. On the floor is a huge pile of black hair.
INT. LOVISA’S CELLAR – DAY
Lovisa stands by a stained wooden altar. She wears a midnight blue robe with a hood. On the altar is a small wooden box, a lit white candle and white flower petals. She holds a photo in her hand.
It’s a picture of Tommy.
LOVISA Silence now thy lying tongue. Only truth and honesty come from thy lips and from thy tongue Till the next full moon doth come
She puts the photo in the flame, watches it burn. She gathers up the ashes, puts them in the wooden box.
A doorbell dings in the distance.
Lovisa turns, heads up the stairs.
INT. LOVISA’S FOYER – DAY
Lovisa opens the door. Coop stands outside.
COOP I have to talk to you.
Lovisa furrows her brow, seems confused.
LOVISA Mitch, what are you doing here? It’s not Tuesday.
Coop pushes past her into the house. She tries to stop him. It doesn’t work.
COOP I have something I need to tell you. You better sit down.
EXT. CHRISTIAN’S HOUSE – DAY
Doris waddles up the sidewalk to Christian’s house. A bible is tucked in tight by her chest. She mumbles religious stuff as she walks.
She climbs up the stairs, knocks on the front door. After a short moment the door opens.
Christian, a joint in his mouth, dressed only in his underwear stares dumbfounded at Doris.
CHRISTIAN Are you here to buy something or bore me to death with your bible boloney?
Doris glances quickly at Christian’s pink thong then averts her eyes.
DORIS I’m on a mission from God.
CHRISTIAN Sorry, wrong house. I’m not into saving an orphanage.
He shuts the door, but Doris jams her foot in the door. She pulls the door open, pushes herself into his house.
The door slams shut behind her.
SIMPLY POLICE – HOLDING CELL – DAY
Mark does push-ups on the floor. Fast, steady, vigorous.
Hawkins steps in. He opens the cell door. He glares at Mark with suspicion. Mark stands up.
HAWKINS You must have some powerful friends… mayor Don Boose called. Said I had to let you go.
Mark’s eyes widen in surprise.
MARK Really?!! Awesome!
Mark struts out of the cell. After a few steps he turns to Hawkins.
MARK Tell the mayor, whatever you said his name was that I appreciate it.
Mark leaves. Hawkins watches him with narrowed eyes.
INT. LOVISA’S KITCHEN – DAY
Lovisa tries to usher Coop out of the kitchen. She casts nervous glances at the door to her bedroom.
Coop grabs her arms, pushes her back towards the kitchen table.
COOP I’m not here for some fun. I have something serious I need to tell you.
LOVISA (hushed voice) You can tell me on Tuesday. I’m all yours on Tuesdays. You know that.
TOMMY (O.S) You’re fucking that asshole on Tuesdays?
Coop and Lovisa stare at Tommy who stands in the doorway with a sheet wrapped around his waist.
Rage grows on Coops face.
COOP …just the asshole I was looking for.
Coop lets go of Lovisa. He storms towards Tommy. Tommy takes a step back, trips on the sheet, falls down. Coop sends his foot hard into Tommy’s gut.
Lovisa screams as the wind is blown out of Tommy.
Coop grabs a hold with his fist on Tommy’s hair. He punches him repeatedly in the face. Tommy’s face turns into a red pulpy mush.
COOP You have a lot to answer to you cunning little shit!
INT. CHRISTIAN’S LIVING ROOM – DAY
A porno plays loud and clear on the television. Drug paraphernalia litter the coffee table.
Christian runs around the room with Doris hot on his heels. Doris has the bible in one hand and an iron cross in the other. At the bottom of the cross is a sharp blade protrudes.
CHRISTIAN Fuck you doin’ lady?
DORIS The lord chose me to be the one that cleanses this town from evil. All you sinners must die.
CHRISTIAN I’m not a fucking sinner!
He jumps over the couch. Doris leaps over it like an agile hippo.
CHRISTIAN I watch some porn and smoke some dope. So what! That’s not even near sinning, bitch!
Doris has Christian cornered. She raises her hand with the dagger cross.
INT. SIMPLY FUNNY – DAY
An obese man practices his comedy routine on the stage.
Dennis sits at a table with a drink in front of him.
Mark enters. He strolls up to Dennis table, sits down. Dennis looks up at him surprised.
DENNIS How did you get out?
MARK I don’t know. I think the Mayor told them to let me go.
Dennis’s jaw drops.
DENNIS The mayor?
Mark nods. Dennis lets out a quiet whistle. He jumps up.
DENNIS I gotta go. See ya later.
He pulls a cell phone out, pushes buttons as he hurries towards the exit.
MARK Why is everyone’s so fucking weird in this town
Doris charges at Christian with the knife in her hand. He kicks her hard in the stomach. She falls to the ground and screams. The knife falls out of her hand.
CHRISTIAN You fucking bitch whore cunt!
Doris looks up at Christian. He walks closer to her then stomps her face. Her nose breaks, blood gushes out.
CHRISTIAN You think you can come here and kill me bitch!
He stomps on her face again and again, some of her skin rips off. He picks up the knife then grabs Doris by her hair. He pulls her up to her feet and puts the knife at her throat.
CHRISTIAN If you ever come here again, if I ever see you again, I will cut off your fucking head!
DORIS You will burn in hell.
CHRISTIAN We're all gonna burn.
He drags her across the living room, he opens the door and shoves Doris outside. She falls flat on her face. Christian slams the door shut.
INT. LOVISA'S KITCHEN - DAY
Tommy lies on the floor in a pool of his own blood. Lovisa pulls Coop back.
LOVISA What the hell are you doing?
COOP Why don't you ask this piece of shit! He's known all along.
LOVISA He's known about what?
COOP You're kids.
Lovisa's face fills with shock. She turns to Tommy. He sits up, blood spills out of his nose.
LOVISA How did you know?
TOMMY I was doing research on you, seeing how much money you had.
Tommy shakes his head.
TOMMY What the fuck? Why did I say that?
LOVISA What's the matter? You couldn't come up with a lie quick enough?
TOMMY I was going to, but....
LOVISA Get the fuck outta my house.
She turns Coop.
LOVISA The both of you!
COOP There's more!
LOVISA I don't wanna hear it!
COOP You have to.
LOVISA I don't have to hear anything. Get out! Both of you!
COOP You don't understand.
Tommy gets up.
TOMMY I just wanted your money......Goddamnit!
Lovisa smacks him across the face. Tommy screams.
TOMMY Bitch!
Coop grabs a hold of Tommy.
COOP I think we otta go see the Sheriff.
TOMMY That won't be good for me.
Tommy elbows Coop in the gut then runs out the back door.
COOP Son of a bitch!
He charges on after him.
EXT. CRAB ALLEY - DAY
Mark struts down the alley, limping towards him is Doris. He runs towards her.
MARK Miss are you okay?
Doris lunges at him.
DORIS SINNER!
She digs her nails into his neck and tears away some flesh.
MARK What the hell?
Mark head butts her. Blood sprays all over his face. Doris falls to the ground.
MARK Crazy bitch.
Mark takes off. Doris gets on her knees.
DORIS This town will suffer the wrath of God through my hands, then all will be just.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - DAY
Dennis makes his way towards the Mayor's secretary.
DENNIS I need to speak with the Mayor.
SECRETARY He's busy right now, you can make an appointment if you'd like.
DENNIS There isn't time. I need to speak with him now!
SECRETARY He's in a meeting.
DENNIS This is important.
SECRETARY So is his meeting.
DENNIS How long will is it gonna be?
SECRETARY Up to an hour.
DENNIS Shit! I'll be back.
INT. LOVISA'S LIVING ROOM - DAY
Lovisa sits on the couch with her head in her hands. There is a knock at the door. She gets up and walks towards the door. She opens it. Christian stands before her.
CHRISTIAN Hello.
LOVISA Do I know you?
CHRISTIAN You should. I'm your son.
Lovisa's eyes open wide.
CHRISTIAN Can I come in?
She doesn't answer. Christian walks in anyways. He closes the door behind him.
LOVISA Johan?
CHRISTIAN It's Christian now.
Lovisa sits down still in shock. Christian walks towards the stereo. He shuffles through he CD's.
CHRISTIAN You like Bob Dylan too, I must have got that from you.
He takes the CD out and puts it in the CD player. The song "Desolation row" comes on.
CHRISTIAN This is my favorite.
He moves closer to Lovisa.
CHRISTIAN (Singing) They're selling postcards of the hanging, they're painting the passports brown, The beauty parlor is filled with sailors, The circus is in town.
He kneels down in front of Lovisa.
CHRISTIAN I've wanted to meet you for so long, I just never had the guts.
He takes out a small vile, he pours some cocaine on the back of his hand and snorts it up.
CHRISTIAN Do you want some?
She shakes her head. He puts the vile back into his pocket.
LOVISA How did you.....How do you?
CHRISTIAN Tommy.
He moves closer.
CHRISTIAN He doesn't know that I know. You know he gives me video tapes of you two. I watch you fucking him, I listen to you cum. I jack off to it.
Lovisa winces.
CHRISTIAN Does that gross you out, me jerking off to you, I think it's pretty fucked up myself.
LOVISA Why did come here?
CHRISTIAN My sister, my twin sister, you're daughter, was killed, she was the girl on the boat, all hacked to pieces Jack the ripper style.
Lovisa stands up.
LOVISA I can't take this right now! It's been a bad morning.
CHRISTIAN A bad morning? You wanna talk about a bad morning, I had some crazy bitch with a knife try to cut me up, that's a bad fuckin' morning.
LOVISA Leave!
CHRISTIAN Is that how you treat you're long lost son? Is this how you grieve the loss of your long lost daughter?
LOVISA I did it for you, so you, both of you would have a chance.
CHRISTIAN Great decision, she's dead and I'm a junkie, swell fucking job.
Lovisa breaks into tears.
Christian walks up to her, he puts his arm around her shoulders and his lips to her ears.
CHRISTIAN I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, this is not how I pictured it would go. I'll leave, but you should know one thing.
He kisses Lovisa on the cheek.
CHRISTIAN I know who killed her.
He walks to the door and leaves. Lovisa collapses on her knees. Bob Dylan continues to sing his song.
EXT. CRAB ALLEY - DAY
Christian walks through the empty alley with a cigarette in his mouth.
CHRISTIAN (Singing) Here comes the blind commissioner, They've got him in a trance, One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker,The other is in his pants.
There are footsteps behind him. He turns around. A hammer comes down and strikes his skull. Blood gushes out. He falls to the ground. A gloved hand grabs him by the ankle and is dragged along the alley.
The mayor sits at his large and confronting desk. A small bar teases in the corner. The polished marble walls and floor are only lit by glowing shaded lamps and a small window left uncurtained.
A knock at the door.
MAYOR Mayor’s office.
DENNIS (O.S.) Hello, Mayor. It’s Dennis Mark.
MAYOR Dennis, come on in.
The door opens and Dennis enters.
MAYOR (CONT'D) Close the door behind you.
DENNIS Sure.
Dennis closes the door.
MAYOR What can I do for you today, Dennis?
DENNIS Well--
MAYOR Oh, I’m sorry, take a seat.
Dennis sits opposite the Mayor.
MAYOR (CONT'D) Now what did you want to talk to me about?
DENNIS Okay, well--
MAYOR Dennis, I’m going to get right to the point. I’m setting up a task initiative to stop this town getting even more out of control than it is. I need answers first, and I think maybe you can give me some - you and that Mark. I have somebody on him, and they will bring him in when I give the go-ahead.
DENNIS What makes you think we have any real answers?
MAYOR Because nobody else will talk to me straight, but you guys owe me.
Dennis sighs.
MAYOR (CONT'D) Will you cooperate? Will you be part of my initiative?
DENNIS Yeah, I guess. If it helps stop all these incidents.
MAYOR Were gonna clean up the streets. We’re gonna clean up the fuckin’ streets!
EXT. CHRISTIAN’S BACKYARD - DAY
Doris wears a large jacket, a hat, and holds a backpack. She races through the garden to the back door.
She smashes the window above the door lock with her first wrapped in cloth. Reaches in and unlocks the door. She enters.
INT. CHRISTIAN’S LIVING ROOM - DAY
Christian lays gutted in the middle of the room, with a large head wound.
Dorris hurries up to the body, flabbergasted.
DORIS Thank you, Lord!
Her face tightens.
DORIS (CONT'D) But I am capable. Let me get the next one. I promise... I won’t let you down. She drops the backpack to the floor. She kneels over the bag, and pulls out scissors, knives, and her sewing kit. She turns to Christian’s mutilated body.
DORIS (CONT'D) Turn that frown upside down, Christian. This is your big day.
INT. MAYOR’S OFFICE
Two burly men restraining Mark bust the door open. Mark tries to shake them off.
MARK What the fuck is this? Get off me!
The mayor gestures to the burly men. They release him.
MAYOR Take a seat.
MARK Now you want to play nice. I hope this isn't how you try to get laid.
The mayor laughs.
MAYOR I like this guy.
A beat.
The mayor sighs.
MAYOR (CONT'D) Anyway, down to business. Business as usual.
The two burly men exit.
MAYOR (CONT'D) I need you two to document everything you know about the recent incidents you know about. Also, you will need to talk to everybody in town, and find out as much as you can. I’m sure a couple of them trust you. Don’t let anybody know you are doing this, because, well, you will find yourself dead. If not by the killer, then me.
Dennis gulps.
MAYOR (CONT'D) I will pay you for your trouble. And if your information turns out to be good, I will compensate you more. I will be letting the town know I am conducting a task force - but nothing more.
Mark and Dennis glance at each other, disconcerted.
INT. CHRISTIAN’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Blood, skin, and guts litter the floor.
A deformed figure sits in darkness. It stands and moves into the light.
Doris hums, she wears Christian’s stitched up skin as a suit, her eyes peering through the new flesh. She gazes out the window.
INT. MAYOR’S OFFICE
The mayor sits at his desk. Shuffling through papers, he lets out a sigh of boredom.
Tommy stands on a pedestal, a small wooden hammer in his hands. He wears reading glasses and a wig. His face has no cuts or bruises.
A crowd of about fifty stand before him.
TOMMY Ladies and gentlemen, boy’s and girl’s, I welcome you to the moment you have all been waiting for, the sale of this fine pier before us, Simply No Escape!
The crowd murmur and clap.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Before we start the auction, ladies and gentlemen, I will give you a bit of information about this fine pier we now stand on. (beat) It was built in 1983, and is entirely hardwood. With the ability to dock 14 boats or yachts, the price we will be selling it for today is a steal. (beat) So let’s get this show on the road, can someone get me started with two hundred and fifty grand? Two fifty ladies and gentlemen?
A FAT MAN in a suit raises a paddle.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Thank you sir! Can I hear two hundred and fifty five?
Coop walks up behind Tommy. He stares for a second in disbelief.
COOP What, what are you doing?!
TOMMY (under his breath) Back off Coop, this doesn’t involve you.
COOP It’s my fucking pier!
TOMMY (sarcastically) Well it will be if you want to bid for it, sir.
Coop roughly grabs Tommy.
COOP Look you little piece of shit, give me that hammer and fuck off.
Coop grabs the hammer from Tommy, and punches him in the face. He falls over the edge of the pier.
Tommy splashes into the water, back first.
He sinks slowly, bubbles come from his open nose and mouth.
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY - DAY
Mark and Dennis both hold huge guns. They spray hundreds of bullets, everywhere. PEOPLE duck and scream. Mark turns to Dennis.
MARK I never knew being on the mayor’s task force would involve this!
They both spray more bullets, as people scream.
INT. MAYOR’S OFFICE - DAY
Giselle is bent over the mayor’s desk. The mayor stands behind, pumping Giselle.
MAYOR If little doggy wants a bone, little doggy get’s a bone. (beat) My bone.
INT. SIMPLY NO ESCAPE - DAY
Tommy continues to sink. There is a faint splash and Doris, who wears the skin of Christian, swims powerfully, straight towards Tommy.
Tommy’s eyes open. Doris is nearly upon him. He screams.
INT. TOMMY’S HIDEOUT - CONTINUOUS
Tommy lies on a makeshift bed.
He suddenly gasps. He struggles to stand up as he holds his head.
TOMMY Man. What a messed up dream.
INT. MARK’S HOUSE - DAY
Mark stands in front of the mirror. He washes blood from his face.
MARK I came here for a bit of peace, and what do I get? Some fucken crazy bitch rippin’ chunks outta my neck!
Mark touches the wound on his neck.
MARK (CONT’D) If that bitch has aids or some shit, I’m gonna be mad.
Mark dries himself off with a towel.
He grabs his jacket as he walks out the door.
INT. MAYOR’S OFFICE - DAY
The mayor sits at his desk, his head in his hands.
MAYOR I need a holiday.
The RECEPTIONIST stands next to the mayor.
RECEPTIONIST But sir -
MAYOR - I came here to relax. I thought this was a quiet town. Lot’s of weird stuff is happening, I don’t like it.
RECEPTIONIST Yes, but -
MAYOR - Book me a holiday. To Australia. No, New Zealand. (beat) Which one has that huge rock in the middle of it?
RECEPTIONIST Umm, Australia sir.
MAYOR That’s where I’m going then. Book me a ticket. I leave tomorrow.
RECEPTIONIST But sir, there is a lady here to see you.
MAYOR A lady you say?
The mayor moves over towards the blinds. He peers through them. A WOMAN has her back turned. She stands in the reception area.
The mayor stands up. He adjusts his tie. He turns to the receptionist.
MAYOR (CONT’D) Tell Australia I cancel.
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY - DAY
Tommy walks down the street. He stop’s a LADY who walks towards him.
TOMMY Excuse me miss, would you be interested in buying this watch?
Tommy holds out a cheap looking watch to the lady.
LADY Umm -
TOMMY - It’s really a cheap watch that I am going to talk up and sell to you for ten times more than it’s actual worth.
Tommy looks shocked at what just came out of his mouth. The lady shakes her head and walks off.
TOMMY (CONT’D) What the fuck? Why can’t I talk properly!
Pause.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Lovisa.
INT. LOVISA’S HOUSE - LATER
Tommy knocks on the door.
TOMMY Hello? Lovisa? Anyone home? (beat) Fuck it.
Tommy opens the door and walks in. He stops in his tracks.
Babies sleep soundly in hospital cots. The room is quiet save for the murmur of tiny breaths, in and out.
The door opens and a young NURSE steps in. She glances round the room, then speaks to someone waiting out in the corridor.
NURSE You can come in now. They’re resting.
A woman steps into the doorway - LOVISA, but twenty years younger, dressed in a hospital gown.
She seems pale, tired. Her face is gaunt, her hair limp, her eyes sunken into her head – not a woman in good physical health.
SUPER: TWENTY YEARS AGO
Lovisa steps into the room. The nurse shuts the door behind them, and then leads her to two adjacent cots, where two babies – one dressed in a pink all-in-one sleepsuit, the other in blue – lie, sleeping soundly.
Lovisa looks down at them more in fear than anything else. She glances at the nurse.
LOVISA Could I...
NURSE Of course. I’ll be back in a few minutes.
The nurse retreats, shutting the door gently behind her. Lovisa turns back to the cots. She inhales and exhales, slowly.
LOVISA Hello, babies. It's me...your mommy.
INT. MAYOR’S OFFICE – PRESENT DAY
The mayor walks towards his desk, straightening his tie.
MAYOR I wonder what the hell she wants?
He notices a bottle of scotch on his desk. There's a tag tied around the neck.
MAYOR (CONTD.) What's this, Angela?
RECEPTIONIST Oh, a gift, sir. Somebody left it for you at the front desk.
The mayor turns the bottle round on the desk, examines it.
MAYOR Aww, how thoughtful. Isn't that nice, Angela? Do you know who sent it?
RECEPTIONIST No, sir. It was left there. The tag's unsigned, too. What shall I tell the lady outside, sir?
MAYOR Oh, send her in.
The receptionist opens the door, calls out.
RECEPTIONIST The mayor will see you now.
The mysterious lady enters. She wears glasses and fashionable clothes, her white hair swept up into a bun. The mayor smiles.
MAYOR Nozé Parker. Gossip columnist, busybody and general professional bitch.
PARKER Hello, Mr. Mayor. It's been a while. Still planning to run for governor?
MAYOR It certainly has. And yes, I am, actually. Shut the door would you, Angela?
She does so.
MAYOR So, what did you want to talk about, Nozé?
INT. SIMPLY GENERAL - CORRIDOR - FLASHBACK
The nurse steps out into the corridor, walks round the corner to the big window that looks into the nursery. A MAN stands there, looking in, his face obscured. The corridor is in darkness – he is invisible to Lovisa.
PARKER (V.O.) Why, I'd have thought you'd have guessed, Don.
The nurse walks past the man, down the corridor. The man watches Lovisa for a few more seconds, then turns to leave. As he does so, the light reveals his face. Again, he’s twenty years younger, but he is still recognisably the man who will one day be the MAYOR.
PARKER (V.O.) I want to talk about your daughter, Annika Stephenson.
He walks away down the corridor.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - PRESENT DAY
PARKER Specifically, about why you killed her.
The mayor stares at her, open-mouthed.
EXT. LOVISA'S HOUSE - MORNING
A battered and bruised Tommy walks up the street.
Through the windshield of a parked car, Coop and Hawkins watch him jog up the path to Lovisa's front door.
COOP There he is, Hawk! I knew he'd be back.
HAWK Okay, let's do it.
They open the car doors, start to climb out.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE
MAYOR How did you...
PARKER I'm not going to disclose my sources, Mr. Mayor. Let me just say they're trustworthy. And not only do I know what you did...I think I know why, too.
The mayor walks back to his desk, sits down.
MAYOR Guess I'm not going to Australia, am I?
PARKER I think she came to this office, and she told you who she was, and when you tried to turn her away she threatened to tell everyone what you'd done. She threatened to reveal your dirty past to the whole world, which, of course, would have meant your dreams of becoming governor would be over. So you had her killed, and told whoever did it to make it look like the work of a deranged maniac, rather than what it really was - the cold-hearted, merciless execution of your own daughter. Am I right, Mr. Mayor?
The mayor remains motionless for a moment. Then he begins to clap, slowly.
MAYOR Very good, Mrs. Parker. Very, very good. You're absolutely right.
He stands, walks towards the window and looks out.
MAYOR (CONTD.) Of course I had to kill her. I couldn't have her running around telling everyone the truth, could I? I had no choice. She wasn't even my daughter anyway, not really. I didn't know her - she was just the echo of some mistake I made twenty years ago.
Parker presses on.
PARKER And you know what else? I think you ordered all the other murders, as well. That accountant on the boat, that woman they fished out of the lake - I think you're trying to create the illusion of a psychotic serial killer to cover your own tracks.
The mayor wheels round.
MAYOR No! You're wrong. I had nothing to do with those other murders. You think I like the fact that murder and mayhem has descended on this town? How do you think that affects my political standing?! I can't even keep control of a small resort, let alone the entire state! This murderer, whoever he is, has ruined me. I'll never be governor now.
He sighs, his anger gone in an instant.
MAYOR (CONTD.) And anyway, one murder is quite enough.
He makes his way unsteadily back to the chair, collapses into it.
MAYOR (CONTD.) She haunts my dreams, Nozé. I close my eyes, and she's there. She reaches out for me, calls to me. I haven't slept for a week - I daren't even blink, because her sliced, ruined face is there, waiting for me. Do you have any idea what that feels like? To live in fear of something that's inside your own mind? It drives you crazy. I've felt guilty about those kids for twenty years, and now they won't leave me alone.
He sighs.
MAYOR (CONTD.) So when will you run the story?
PARKER Tomorrow morning. I only came to see if you wanted to comment.
MAYOR Tomorrow morning. Huh. Maybe I'll finally get some rest.
His eyes come to rest on the scotch bottle. He picks it up.
MAYOR (CONTD.) I need a drink.
He unscrews the top, notices the tag tied round the neck. He reads the message aloud.
MAYOR (CONTD.) "Mr. Mayor - no-one deserves this as much as you do." Now isn't that sweet.
He manages a half-smile, opens a drawer and takes out a glass.
MAYOR (CONTD.) I've done some bad things, made lots of mistakes in my life. And yes, you could say I deserve my guilt. But you know what? In the end, it wasn't even my political career I was thinking of. When that girl walked through that door...I just couldn't bear having to tell my wife I'd lied to her.
He pours some scotch into the glass, breathes in its smell with closed eyes.
MAYOR (CONTD.) Even so...I'd have been a fine governor you know, Mrs. Parker. A damn fine governor.
He raises the glass in a toast.
MAYOR (CONTD.) Your good health, Mrs. Parker.
He takes a long sip, swallows. He considers for a moment.
MAYOR Ah, now that's some good -
He stops. His eyes widen. Suddenly he drops the glass. It SMASHES on the floor. His hands come up to his throat, and he gasps for air, eyes bulging.
PARKER Mr. Mayor?
The mayor starts to spasm. His eyes roll back into his head, and he falls back, toppling off the chair. His trailing arm sends the bottle of scotch crashing to the floor.
PARKER Mr. Mayor!
On the floor, the mayor thrashes around, foaming at the mouth. Parker runs for the door, screaming -
PARKER Help! Somebody help! Something's wrong with the mayor!
The mayor thrashes one last time, and then is still. The broken glass shards of the bottle lie in a puddle of fizzing, steaming scotch. Fumes rise from the toxic mixture.
INT. LOVISA'S LIVING ROOM - MORNING
Tommy stands in the open doorway.
TOMMY What. The. Fuck.
Lovisa sits on the sofa, crying. Around her are photo albums, boxes of assorted baby stuff. In her hands she holds a picture of the two newborn babies, dressed in their pink and blue, lying in the hospital cots. She barely seems to have noticed Tommy's entrance.
LOVISA I never wanted to give them up. It wasn't my idea...they told me it was for the best.
She looks up at Tommy with wide, wet eyes.
LOVISA You say you did research on me? To see if I had money?
Tommy looks uncomfortable.
TOMMY Yeah...
LOVISA Did you do research on the kids, too? Did you find about them?
TOMMY Yes,
LOVISA Were they happy, Tommy? Did their parents treat them well? Was it the right thing to do, in the end?
The two stare at each other for a long moment.
TOMMY Yeah. Yeah, they were happy.
Lovisa sobs with relief. Tommy retreats backwards.
TOMMY Look, I'm gonna just -
COOP (O,S,) You're not going anywhere, pal.
Tommy wheels round. Coop, standing in the open doorway, lands a punch square on his jaw. Tommy collapses with a yelp.
The front door bursts open, and Tommy lead in handcuffs by Hawkins and Coop enter the deserted police station. They lead Tommy to the front desk to where CLAIRE, a tired policewoman sits, a phone to her ear.
CLAIRE (into phone) Okay... Yes okay... Yes, he's returned just this second... Okay, I'll send him over now... Okay, bye.
Claire puts down the phone.
HAWKINS Claire, we've arrested this man on two counts of --
CLAIRE Sorry to interrupt you Sir, but that was the Mayor's office. You've got to get over there right away. The Mayor's dropped dead.
Hawkins' and Coop's jaws drop. Tommy smiles.
INT. LOVISA'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY
Lovisa sits on her leather couch, naked except for a pink thong. A photo album lays open on the floor. Lovisa stares into space and sobs freely.
She picks up a pair of porn star high heels from the floor and throws them at a framed photo of herself which hangs on the wall.
The photo CRACKS, and falls to the floor.
INT. MARK DONOVAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY
Mark holds a phone to his ear. It RINGS... and RINGS... The answering machine kicks in.
MARK Mayor Boose, it's me, Mark. Look, I don't know why youre not returning my calls but you still owe me money which if I were you I'd pay sooner, rather than later...
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - DAY
Hawkins and Coop stand in the Mayor's trashed office. They listen to Mark who talks over the answering machine.
MARK (O.S.) ... I mean how do you think the people of this town would react if they knew the Mayor hired a professional fighter to kill his long lost daughter? You know my number. Call me.
The answerphone clicks off. Hawkins smiles at Coop.
COOP Confessing to a crime over answerphone? A rookie mistake.
HAWKINS Well at least we know why the Mayor threw Mark the get-out-jail-free card.
COOP So what do we do now?
HAWKINS Well we arrest Mark for Annika's murder, and then we pay Lovisa another visit.
COOP Lovisa? Why?
HAWKINS Annika's her daughter. What would you do if your daughter was killed?
COOP You think Lovisa killed the Mayor?!
HAWKINS I never said that. Hell, we don't even know how he died yet. All I know is that Lovisa owes us some answers.
INT. HAWKINS' PATROL CAR - DAY
Hawkins drives, Coop sits shotgun.
Hawkins' police radio CRACKLES into action.
POLICE RADIO VOICE (O.S.) (over radio) Hawkins?
Hawkins grabs the walkie-talkie attached to the radio and speaks into it.
HAWKINS (into radio) Hawkins here, whats the problem?
POLICE RADIO VOICE (O.S.) (over radio) It's Tommy Lacsap... He's escaped.
HAWKINS (into radio) Escaped? How?!
POLICE RADIO VOICE (O.S.) (over radio) He managed to overpower Claire... He beat her real bad Sir.
HAWKINS Shit. (into radio) Okay, hold on, I'll be back at HQ shortly.
Hawkins returns his walkie talkie to his radio.
HAWKINS (CONT'D) Hold on Coop and prepare yourself for a good old fashioned manhunt.
Hawkins yanks on the handbrake and does a full speed 180 turn.
INT. MARK DONOVAN'S HOUSE - GYM - DAY
A well equipped personal gym.
Mark lies on a bench press dressed only in workout shorts, which proudly display his huge, muscular, sweaty upper body.
The headphones in his ear plays 'Y.M.C.A.' by The Village People, his eyes shut in concentration as he lifts a comically huge weight.
A PAIR OF FEET dressed in porn star high heels creep up behind Mark, a shadow belonging to the UNSEEN ATTACKER cast on Mark's body.
Suddenly, the Unseen Attacker pulls out a machete and slices Marks right forearm clean off. Mark opens his eyes and SCREAMS out in pain as he drops the heavy weight on his chest, which pins him to the bench.
MARK No! Please!
The Unseen Attacker slams a plastic bag over Mark's head and strangles him as he thrashes out with wild left hand punches.
Lovisa stands in front of her altar, naked except for porn star high heels. Her nipples are encircled in red. The same red color adorns her lips.
She holds two photos…one of Coop, and one of Hawkins, over a small candle’s flame.
LOVISA Release thy passion, realize thy lust. On this day, only me you will trust. From fire to ashes, from ashes to fire. Today together, all your desire.
She touches the pictures to the flame, throws them into a wooden box, while they continue to burn.
She smiles as she caresses her breasts.
EXT. DORIS’ RENTED HOUSE. – MOMENTS LATER
Two patrol cars are parked outside the house. OFFICER Morton motions two other OFFICERS around the sides of Doris’ house. All have their service revolvers drawn.
OFFICER CARSON stands next to a patrol car, his 2 way radio to his lips.
CARSON Sherriff…Sherriff, it’s Carson. We’re getting ready to enter the premises. Over.
HAWKINS (VO) Gotcha. Proceed with caution, and don’t take any chances. We’re heading into Lovisa’s. Over.
Carson motions to the other three officers.
Morton knocks on the front door.
MORTON Doris Kilman…this is the police. I need you to open this door immediately, and keep your hands where I can see them.
No response. He looks back to Carson, nervously.
CARSON (whispering) Try the door.
Morton slowly turns the knob. The door opens with a squeak.
MORTON FREEZE! Do not move! Get in here guys!
EXT. LOVISA HAMMARE’S HOUSE.– CONTINUOUS
Hawkins and Coop approach the front door.
HAWKINS Just be cool now, old buddy. Let me handle this. If Tommy’s here, I’ll need your help.
COOP My pleasure…I’ve taken that little shit down before, and I’d love to do it again right now. I’m ready.
Hawkins knocks at the door.
HAWKINS Lovisa! It’s Sherriff Hawkins. I need to speak with you. Can you open the door please?
LOVISA (OS) David? Is that you, sweetie? I’ve been waiting for you boys. C’mon in…door’s open.
INT. LOVISA HAMMARE’S HOUSE – CONTINUOUS
Hawkins opens the door. They both step inside.
Lovisa stands in the living room, buck naked, hands on her curvy hips.
LOVISA My, my, my…what a surprise. My two favorites.
Coop looks wide eyed to Hawkins.
COOP What the…
LOVISA Well? What are you two waiting for? You ready to have some fun?
Hawkins closes the door, looks to Coop. Coop returns the look, nervously.
Both men hurriedly disrobe, wild smiles on their faces.
COOP Hawk, what are we doing?
HAWKINS Not sure. I’m taking my big, old hairy dick out though…that’s what I’m doing.
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY – ON THE WATER – CONTINUOUS
A large ocean going yacht glides through the calm waters just off shore. It cruises some fifty yards off the northeast corner of land.
Tommy stands at the bridge. His face is a black and blue mess. He pulls back on the control arm. The yacht comes to a stop, just outside Lovisa’s house.
Tommy jumps down, off the bridge, disappears below.
He comes back up carrying a high powered rifle with a scope.
He takes aim at the house, peers into the scope.
Scope POV
Through a window, Lovisa is on all fours, Hawkins straddles her face. Coop pounds her from behind like a jack hammer.
TOMMY Motherfuckers…damn, wish I could get that shit on film.
Coop and Hawkins stand confused in the middle of the room. Lovisa turns from the window, stares at them.
LOVISA You need to get dressed.
A phone rings in the distance. Lovisa rushes off towards the kitchen.
Coop and Hawkins glance at each other...below the belt.
INT. KITCHEN - DAY
A wall phone rings. Lovisa picks it up.
LOVISA Hello.
She listens. Her eyes widen. She glances over her shoulder into the living room.
LOVISA (whispers) Doris!... What do you want... calm down, calm down... What happened? ...I'll be right there. Don't go anywhere!
She hangs the phone back on the wall then hurries back into the--
LIVING ROOM
--where Coop and Hawkins stand in "attention".
LOVISA You haven't got dressed yet?
COOP I can't leave like this. I'm not done yet.
LOVISA I have to go somewhere. It's urgent.
COOP This is urgent too...
Coop does his best puppy dog beg.
COOP Please.
Lovisa rolls her eyes then drops to her knees in front of him. She pats the couch with her hand.
LOVISA Here. Put your foot here.
He does as he's told.
LOVISA Be quick about it. I really have to go.
Coop gets a goofy smile on his face. His eyes roll back into his head.
TEN SECONDS LATER
Lovisa, swallows. GULP! She tastes her mouth. Frowns.
LOVISA Seriously Mitch...you need to ease up on the garlic.
COOP I do?
He looks down on himself.
She gets up. Puts on a long flowery dress.
LOVISA Lock the door when you leave.
She heads for the door.
HAWKINS What about me?
Lovisa shrugs "what about you".
LOVISA Maybe Mitch can give you a hand.
Hawkins peers at Coop with horny hopes.
COOP ...Uh...Fuck no!
EXT. CRAB ALLEY - DAY
Lovisa rides her three wheel bike with a cart behind down the narrow road.
Suddenly Doris steps out from behind one of the buildings. She's all bloody, looks like hell.
Lovisa hits the brakes hard.
LOVISA Jeezus Doris. You scared the hell out of me.... Oh my God! What happened?
She gets off her bike. Doris cries, stumbles towards Lovisa.
DORIS I don't know what's happening to me. I can't remember anything. Look at me! I'm so scared.
She cries hard. Lovisa puts her arm around Doris.
DORIS I was on my way to your house and then...
She sobs, can't get the words out. She points behind a bush. Lovisa looks in that direction. A foot sticks out under the bush.
DORIS I...I found him
Lovisa stares at the foot. She runs up to it, pulls the bush aside. She gasps. Puts her hand over her mouth.
Christian lies under the bush. His head a bloody mess. Lovisa cries too.
LOVISA My baby! My poor baby!
DORIS I didn't do it. I swear!
Lovisa glances at her bike then back to Christian.
LOVISA C'mon. Help me get him on my bike.
Doris nods. The both grab a hold of Christian. They move him to the cart. Lovisa lovingly positions him in a more comfortable way.
LOVISA Come with me. I need your help to get him into my house... We'll take the back road.
INT. LOVISA'S CELLAR - DUSK
The two women carry Christian's body down the stairs. They walk past the wooden altar on to a big stone altar. They lay the body on it.
DORIS What do we do now?
Lovisa puts a very old big book of spells on the wooden altar. She flips through it, searches for something particular.
LOVISA Take his clothes off while I figure out what to do.
Doris stand still, not sure what to do. Lovisa glares at her.
LOVISA Damnit Doris! Take his clothes off!
Doris hesitates then does as she's told. She covers her eyes when she pulls his pants off. Her fingers separate. She takes a peek.
EXT. LOVISA'S HOUSE - NIGHT
The late afternoon sun struggles to stay above the horizon. Tommy struts up the pebble walkway. A big bulge in front of his pants. He adjusts his crotch.
TOMMY I'm a fucking slave!
He makes it up the stairs, knocks on the door. No answer. He knocks again. Nothing. He tries the door handle. The door opens.
TOMMY Hey! You home?
INT. LOVISA'S CELLAR - NIGHT
Christian lies naked on the slab of stone. Lovisa wears her midnight blue robe. Doris has a similar robe in her hand. Both women are naked besides the robes.
DORIS I have to wear this?
LOVISA Put it on Doris.
She does. Lovisa moves over to the wooden altar. The old book of spells is open. She lights four candles. An urn sits near the candles.
Tommy creeps down the stairs. He stares in awe at the scene before him.
TOMMY What are you guys doing?
Lovisa turns to him.
LOVISA (dead serious) If you're going to stay you need to take off all your clothes and do exactly as I tell you.
Tommy nods. Senses the seriousness of the situation. He pulls his clothes off. Lovisa turns back to the altar.
LOVISA Osiris, keeper of the gate, master of all fate, hear me!
She sticks her finger in the urn. Blood drips from her finger. She paints a bloody line from her forehead down her face, neck, chest, stomach and down between her legs.
LOVISA Before time and after, before knowing and nothing.
She takes the urn with the blood and pours it over Christian's body.
LOVISA Osiris, here lies Johan my long lost son, let him cross over, Osiris release him. Let me nurse him back to life, let him cross over, Osiris release him!
Silence. Everyone waits. After a moment Lovisa climbs up on the altar. She slides her body up and down Christian's bloody body. She glides up far. Her breast touches his face. A drop of milk seeps out from her nipples. it drops down on his mouth followed by a second drop.
LOVISA Wake up Johan. It's me. Your mother. Drink from me the life I give you.
Another drop hits his mouth. His mouth opens slightly. More drops falls into his mouth. His mouth opens more. She lowers herself, lets the nipple enter his mouth. His mouth closes around it. Tommy and Doris stares stunned at them. Doris notices something. Her gaze lowers between Christians legs.
DORIS Oh God! It's working! He's alive!
LOVISA Work him Doris! Work him!
Christians hands moves up, squeezes Lovisa's breasts, sucks on them. She moans in pleasure. Doris hand shakes as she reaches out to touch Christian. She closes her eyes. Touches him then quickly retracts her hand.
DORIS I can't do it.
Lovisa snaps her head around.
LOVISA (growls) Take him in your goddamn mouth Doris! Now!
Doris makes a face of disgust but does as she's told. Tommy's eyes bug out.
TOMMY Holy... Fuck!
He's hand zips down to his "weapon of choice". Christian's eyes flutter open. He and his mom both moan. Lovisa is extatic.
LOVISA You're alive! You're back!
She moves down, kisses him on his mouth.
LOVISA Don't ever leave me again.
She hops off the altar. They all look at Doris who has his entire package down her throat. Balls and all.
TOMMY Wow!
LOVISA Doris, you can stop now...Doris...hey Doris.
Christian yelps. Doris lets go of him just as the mother load of all loads splashes into her face and hair. Doris blinks hard. Her eyelids weighed down.
They all listen. There it is, faint but distinct: the WAIL of approaching SIRENS.

REPORTERS (O.S.) Miss Shyster! Ariel! Miss Shyster!
FADE IN:
EXT. SIMPLY JUSTICE COURTHOUSE - DAY
A media scrum on the wide, marble steps of Lake Simply's courthouse.
DOZENS OF PHOTOGRAPHERS AND REPORTERS fight for the attention of ARIEL SHYSTER, a pretty lawyer in her 40s, who walks up the steps, briefcase in hand. The scrum surges after her.
When she reaches the top of the steps she turns back to face them. One REPORTER at the front of the crowd manages to get his question heard.
REPORTER 1 Miss Shyster! Are you expecting a good verdict today?
ARIEL I'm not sure I'd call it that. I'm expecting the right verdict, the only one that's fair.
REPORTER 2 Is your client guilty, Miss Shyster?
Ariel smiles.
ARIEL I think we're supposed to leave it to the jury to decide that. And I just got a call about twenty minutes to tell me they've made up their minds, so if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go find out what they think.
She turns, ignoring all other questions, and enters the courthouse.
At the bottom of the steps, a BLACK CAR pulls up.
REPORTER 3 Mr. Mayor! Mr. Mayor!
The DRIVER climbs out of the car and walks round to open the door. A man climbs out...COOP.
REPORTER 3 Mayor Cooper!
COOP Oh, Christ.
The scrum surges towards him.
REPORTER 3 Mr. Mayor, in the four months since your election there have been no more attacks by the Lake Simply Slayer. Are you hoping that today another criminal will be taken off our streets?
COOP I think you're forgetting that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Until the jury's verdict is announced, the defendant is no more guilty than you or me. We're continuing in our efforts to clean up our town, but that doesn't mean we won't give people a fair trial.
REPORTER 4 What about Tommy Lascap, Mr. Mayor? It's been six months since he disappeared, and despite repeated promises from both yourself and Sheriff Hawkins, he's continued to elude arrest...
COOP Myself and Sheriff Hawkins have been doing everything we can to find and bring Tommy Lascap in to answer for his crimes. He's a dangerous man -
INT. SIMPLY JAVA - DAY
A MAN, in shades, enters, approaches the counter. The WAITRESS leans by the till, watching the TV. Coop is onscreen.
COOP (V.O.) - but the FBI have now become involved, and they have agents working around the clock to track him down. He's wanted for a string of crimes across many states, remember.
The waitress turns.
WAITRESS What'll it be, hun?
MAN Espresso to go, please.
COOP (V.O.) My guess is he's a million miles away from here by now.
The waitress goes to fix the drink. The man takes the shades off, turns to watch the TV.
It's TOMMY.
COURTHOUSE STEPS
REPORTER 5 Considering how the last mayor died, are you not concerned that if the Slayer does return, you'll be a prime target?
COOP Mayor Boose was a committed and professional man. But as we all now know, he became involved with some pretty unsavoury people. I'd say that was the reason that he met the end he did.
REPORTER 5 Has the investigation into his murder uncovered any new leads?
COOP No, that's ongoing.
REPORTER 6 What about -
HAWKINS (O.S.) Okay, enough questions! Let the mayor through.
HAWKINS, flanked by more cops, steps through the crowd. He waves the reporters back.
COOP Hawk!
The two shake, warmly.
HAWKINS Hello, 'Mr. Mayor'. You ready for this?
COOP Yeah, I guess so. Lead the way.
The two climb the steps.
INT. LOVISA'S LIVING ROOM - DAY
A MAN in a wheelchair watches the coverage on TV.
LOVISA enters, fastening the buttons on a coat.
LOVISA I'm just heading out for a bit, okay baby?
She comes over, kisses him on the top of the head.
LOVISA Love you. Won't be long.
She walks over to the door and exits, shutting it behind her.
The man in the wheelchair is CHRISTIAN. He stares at the TV with vacant eyes.
INT. COURTROOM - DAY
A crowd waits in the seating area. Ariel sits at the desk.
A door at the side opens, and DORIS is led in. But Doris like you've never seen her before. Forty pounds lighter, made-up, hair straightened...a whole new woman.
She comes up to the desk, embraces Ariel. They sit.
ARIEL How you doing?
Doris smiles. Her teeth have been whitened.
DORIS How do you think? I'm nervous. If they find me guilty they'll send me to the chair, Ariel.
ARIEL They won't find you guilty.
BAILIFF All rise!
Everyone does. Ariel and Doris hold hands.
DORIS In a couple of minutes you're either going to be very right, or very wrong.
Ariel gives her hand a squeeze.
EXT. COURTHOUSE STEPS - MINUTES LATER
Coop and Hawkins walk out together, deep in conversation.
COOP Not guilty by reason of temporary insanity! Son of a bitch...I didn't see that coming.
HAWKINS That Shyster's a good lawyer. The best. And you have to admit, Coop...Doris does seem different now. Before I wouldn't have gone near her with a bargepole, but now...
Reporters run up.
REPORTER 1 Mr. Mayor! Is it really right that a self-confessed murderer should be allowed to roam the streets?
COOP Mrs. Kilman never denied that she struck the blow that killed Reverend Douglas. But the court has ruled that at the time she did so, she was not in full control of her faculties. She is ready to re-enter society, and her swift and successful rehabilitation is a story we should all take inspiration from. That's all I've gotta say. Thanks.
He turns to Hawkins.
HAWKINS You're quite the soundbyte guy, huh?
COOP I guess I am. Well, I'm outta here, Hawk. You gonna stay around, try and keep the peace?
HAWKINS Yeah, we'll get Doris in a car and out of here. I hear she's headed back home, to Rhode Island.
Coop nods, gesturing up the steps.
COOP Here's Miss Roxie now.
Coop walks away towards the waiting car.
Ariel and Doris appear. The crowd surges up to them, cameras flashing like fireworks.
DORIS Oh my...there's so many of them!
ARIEL They're here for you, Doris. They all want to be the one who tells your story. You're a star.
DORIS A star?
She smiles, blushes.
DORIS (CONTD.) I've never been called that before.
She raises a hand, waves to the crowd. They start to walk down the steps, the cops pushing the crowds back,
DORIS (CONTD.) You know what, Ariel? I think things just might be okay.
ARIEL I hope so, Doris. I hope so.
Her smile fades as she looks down at Doris' chest. She frowns. Doris notices.
DORIS What is it?
A red dot hovers on Doris' blouse. Ariel looks at it, bemused.
ARIEL Is that...?
The CRACK of a distant gun-shot.
The SNIPER BULLET hits Doris in the middle of the chest, knocking her off her feet and sending her CRASHING back onto the steps.
SCREAMS as the crowds on the steps scatter. Hawkins looks around with wild eyes, gun in hand. He turns to face the tall apartment building opposite.
HAWKINS SNIPER!
The police fire at a window on the building.
Ariel kneels by Doris. Blood begins to flow out across the steps, red against the white marble.
ARIEL Oh my God...Doris...someone get a medic!
No-one hears, her voice lost in the chaos. Doris opens and closes her mouth, white with shock.
DORIS Not yet...not now...I've only just started...
ARIEL Shh...don't talk, Doris. Save your strength.
Doris looks up at Ariel. A tear runs from the corner of her eye. She grips Ariel's hand.
DORIS I'm scared...I don’t want to go to Hell...please...
Her voice trails off. Blood begins to fill her mouth.
Then she gasps, gurgles, spasms one last time, and goes limp. Her sightless eyes stare up at the lawyer’s face, her hand loosens its grip and drops to the ground.
INT. APARTMENT – DAY - VARIOUS SHOTS
- The front door is KICKED OPEN. Hawkins leads in a group of cops, their guns raised.
HAWKINS LSPD!
- Cops burst into every room, finding no-one and nothing. All the rooms are completely empty.
- Hawkins KICKS OPEN another door. His gun leading the way, he steps into the --
BEDROOM
A SNIPER RIFLE, mounted on a tripod, points out of the open window. The view is of the courthouse steps.
A PIECE OF PAPER is taped to the top of the sight. Hawkins walks over, rips it off, reads it.
HAWKINS My God...
The sounds of a DISTURBANCE in the corridor.
COOP (O.S.) Let me through, goddammit! I’m the mayor!
Coop barges past the officers, into the room. He surveys the scene, stares at Hawkins.
COOP (CONTD.) My God, Hawk...
He notices the piece of paper Hawkins is holding.
COOP (CONTD.) Is that...
HAWKINS It’s a note.
Coop gulps.
COOP What...what does it say? Damn it, Hawk, tell me!
Hawkins looks at him with weary eyes. Then he glances down and reads it aloud:
HAWKINS “Hello again, Lake Simply. You didn’t really think it was over, did you?”
Hawkins sits at his desk which is covered by various newspapers which all scream similar headlines: "Lake Simply Killer Returns!"; "Mayor Coop Promises Killer Will Be Caught"; "Tommy Lacsap Still At Large".
Hawkins grabs a paper with Tommy's picture spread proudly on the front page. He shakes his head.
HAWKINS That mother-fucker. He's making a mockery of the whole damn police force.
Hawkins picks a pen up from his table and writes "I'M A DEAD-MAN" in a speech bubble on Tommy's picture.
A KNOCK at Hawkin's door startles him.
HAWKINS Come in.
The door swings open and in walks Lovisa, dressed in a sexy, revealing dress.
LOVISA Hello David.
HAWKINS Lovisa...
Hawkins licks his lips.
HAWKINS You're looking mighty fine. What can I do for you?
Hawkins motions towards a seat and Lovisa sits down.
Lovisa notices the graffitied picture of Tommy and smiles.
LOVISA Well, I've got something to ask you. It's a favour. About Tommy.
HAWKINS I'm listening.
LOVISA I don't want you to arrest him... I want him dead. I want you to kill Tommy Lacsap.
Hawkins shrugs, then smiles.
HAWKINS Either way he's off the streets and Lake Simply is a whole lot safer. Killer Tommy shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure we can come to some sort of... agreement.
LOVISA What do you have in mind?
Hawkins smiles. Lovisa takes the hint and returns his smile. She gets on her knees, and crawls beneath his desk.
LOVISA (O.S.) My, my, I have missed your big, hairy dick.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - DAY
Coop paces his office, phone in his hand.
RING! RING! Coop answers the call almost immediatly.
COOP (into phone) Yes?... Okay, great... Yes, payment upon completion like last time... Okay, phone me once you've finished... Yep, bye.
Coop ends the call and smiles.
EXT. SIMPLY BEACH - DAY
Tommy strolls along the beach. He wears dark sunglasses and a baseball cap and carries a backpack.
He leaves the beach and walks towards Lovisa's house. He stops at the backdoor, takes the backpack off his pack and produces a machete from it.
VOICE (O.S.) Hey, freeze!
Tommy spins around shocked to see two POLICEMEN on the beach, guns aimed at him.
POLICEMAN 1 Drop the knife! I repeat, drop the knife!
Tommy calmly drops the knife... Then makes a break for it round the side of Lovisa's house, backpack still in his hand.
BANG! BANG! BANG! The policemen let off multiple shots but Tommy has already disappeared. The policemen follow Tommy, in hot pursuit.
INT. HAWKINS' PATROL CAR - DAY
Hawkins speeds down the streets, his police radio in hand.
HAWKINS (into radio) All units, I repeat, Tommy Lacsap has been spotted travelling down Point View Walk on foot. He's wearing a leather jacket, a baseball cap and sunglasses. Shoot on sight. I repeat, shoot on sight!
EXT. ALLEYWAY - DAY
Tommy hides behind a dumpster down a dirty, piss drenched alley. He looks towards the street at the end of the alley to where SIRENS can be heard in the distance... Suddenly two patrol cars speed past the end of the alley and continue driving into the distance.
Tommy smiles, then gets up from his hiding place. He takes of his leather jacket, his baseball cap and sunglasses and throws them into the dumpster.
He opens his bag and takes out a hooded sweatshirt and a wooley hat, aswell as a pistol which he holsters down the back of his jeans.
INT. LOVISA'S HOUSE - NIGHT
Christian sits in his wheelchair. A re-run of 'Saved By The Bell' plays on a TV in the background.
Christian holds a photo of Lovisa and Tommy. He has scratched both their faces off with a knife and is in the process of scratching away the rest of their bodies.
CHRISTIAN Kill them both... Kill them both... Kill them both...
INT. HAWKINS' HOUSE - NIGHT
Hawkins sits in a leather armchair, a razor in one hand, his hairy dick in his other. He shaves his pubes.
HAWKINS Say goodbye to your old nick-name... Say hello to the new porn-star style hair-do.
A DOORBELL startles Hawkins.
HAWKINS One minute!
Hawkins brushes the pubes off his lap.
He stands, puts away his penis then walks towards the door. He opens it to find no one there.
He shrugs.
HAWKINS Stupid kids.
Hawkins shuts the door, then turns... He freezes in his tracks.
HAWKINS No... Please.
Hawkins looks at his pistol on a table beside his front door. He tries to grab it - BANG! BANG! The unseen attacker fires two shots into his chest.
Hawkins crumples against his front door as crimson stains appear on his white t-shirt.
Christian sits in the wheelchair. He faces the television.
Lovisa enters the room. She wears a long flowing tie-dye dress. A look of concern on her face as she paces back and forth with occasional glances towards the back of the wheelchair.
Grunts are heard from Christian every now and then.
Lovisa strides over to the wheelchair, grabs the handles, turns the wheelchair around. Christian doesn't look too good. His skin is gray with very slight blue veins showing through here and there. His eyes are dull. The corneas a cloudy grey. His lips a greyish black.
Lovisa strokes his cheeks with love.
LOVISA Poor baby. You don't look very good.
She takes his limp grey hand in hers, kisses it.
Christian grunts.
LOVISA You feel so cold.
She rubs his hands in hers.
LOVISA You want me to get you a blanket? I know what will warm you up...
She opens up his pants then pulls her dress up and straddles him in the wheelchair. Christian grunts. His hands tremble. Lovisa unbuttons her dress, exposes her breasts. She takes his cold and shaky hands, places them on her breast and squeezes. She leans in, kisses him on his black lips while she grinds her body up and down.
After a few moments she stops. gazes into his cloudy eyes. One of his corneas flakes off. It falls down, lands on her breast.
She picks the cornea up, begins to sob.
LOVISA I'm worried about you... The medicines I make for you don't seem to be working.
She gets up, heads into the--
KITCHEN
--where she pulls out a drawer, grabs something then rushes back into the--
LIVING ROOM
--towards Christian. She opens the small tube of "super glue" in her hand, drops a few drops onto the cornea resting on her fingertip. Lovisa grabs a hold of his head, tilts it back then pushes the cornea into place.
Christian spasms. Grunts.
LOVISA Sshhh... It won't take long baby.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - NIGHT
Coop sits by his desk. He rubs his temples as he stares straight ahead. After a moment he stares at the phone on his desk. He hesitates then reaches out, pushes a button. A distorted voicemail recording starts.
MALE VOICE (V.O.) Hawkins gone now Mister Mayor. Just you, Tommy and Lovisa left. I don't count her son as he seems... incapacitated at the moment. (laghter) ...so, what are you going to do now? Better think quick. I'm gonna get you all.
There's a click. The message is over.
COOP Who the fuck are you?
Coop gets up, grabs a jacket from a hat stand. He glances over at his desk, hurries over to it then pulls out a drawer. He hesitates then pulls out a pink revolver that he tucks into his jacket.
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
Tommy sneaks down the alley. A wicked smile adorns his face.
TOMMY Fuckers have no idea who they're dealing with.
He pulls his gun out of his pocket, admires it then pretends to aim and shoot at something.
INT. LOVISA'S CELLAR - NIGHT
Lovisa flows down the stairs. Her dress is still unbuttoned. Big breasts bounce wildly with each step. When she reaches the bottom of the steps she pulls her dress off, replaces it with the dark blue hooded robe that lies on the stone altar. She heads over to the wooden altar. A two foot tall glass dildo with gold flakes embedded in it sits on the altar. It shimmers in the candle light.
Lovisa admires it, lets her finger tips glide over it. She closes her eyes, smiles with pleasure. A moan escapes her lips. Suddenly she snaps to. She grabs it, tilts it towards her and kisses the giant phallus on its tip.
LOVISA Sorry, but I didn't mean to come here for you. I have something more important I have to do right now.
She puts it back then rummages through the other items on the altar. Little jars with herbs, leaves and flower petals, oils, liquids that glow.
The doorbell rings upstairs. She snaps her head to the stairs then closes the robe around her and rushes off.
INT. LOVISA'S FOYER - NIGHT
Coop stands outside the open door. Lovisa seems annoyed.
LOVISA Mitch! What do you want? I'm busy.
COOP I have to talk to you. It's urgent.
LOVISA This is urgent too.
Coop pushes in, past her into the living room. He stops to stare at Christian who sits in the wheelchair with his pants open.
COOP What's wrong with him? He looks like hell!
LOVISA I'm working on it. That's what I was doing when you came.
Coop steps closer to Christian.
COOP He looks like he's been brought back from the dead.
LOVISA ...Uhmm...well.
Coop walks over to the window, peers out then pulls the curtains shut.
COOP Listen, something's wrong here.
LOVISA He'll be fine. I promise.
COOP Not with him. I mean the Simply Slayer is back and I don't think it's Tommy. Whoever he is, he just killed Hawkins too.
Shocked, Lovisa covers her mouth.
LOVISA David's dead?
Coop pulls his Pink Lady out of his jacket. He hands it to Lovisa who refuses it.
COOP I want you to have it. You're not safe with a killer on the loose.
LOVISA I don't need a gun.
He puts the revolver on the coffee table.
COOP When I leave I want you to lock all your doors and windows and pull all the blinds shut.
LOVISA Where are you going?
COOP I have to try to figure out who this killer is.
Lovisa puts her arms around him, kisses him.
LOVISA Will you be safe?
Coop returns her kisses. Soft at first then more intense. Lovisa pulls her head back, rubs her pelvis against his.
LOVISA I thought you were supposed to rest on Thursdays?
COOP Aww hell. I might as well come clean. Thursdays were Hawkins and my day...
LOVISA You mean...
He shrugs, nods.
COOP I'm a big hungry guy. I need to be fed every day.
Lovisa is stunned.
LOVISA That is so hot!
COOP (confused) Really?
Lovisa unbuckles his belt. Rips his jacket off.
LOVISA Mitch, do everything to me you did to Hawkins!
COOP Are you sure?...
LOVISA Oh yeah!
Christian watches from the wheelchair. He grunts. His hands shakes.
Coop gestures towards Christian.
COOP What about him?
LOVISA Don't worry about him. He likes to watch.
EXT. LOVISA'S HOUSE - NIGHT
Tommy creeps along the wall of the house. He reaches a window, but the curtains are drawn. He attempts to peek in at the edges.
The sound of two people having wild sex mixed with occasional guttural grunts emanates from inside.
Tommy puts his ear against the window.
TOMMY Perfect. Sounds like everyone is home waiting for me.
He pulls his gun out.
The sounds from inside the house increase in their intensity until it reaches climax followed by silence except for a few grunts every now and then.
INT. LOVISA'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Lovisa and Coop get dressed. They are both soaking wet. They glance around the room. Everything is wet. The carpet, the couch, the coffee table. Even Christian's wheelchair is wet.
LOVISA/COOP Wow!
They finish getting dressed. Coop gives her a quick peck on the lips.
COOP I better go. Got to find that killer before he strikes again.
LOVISA Be careful...
COOP You too. Make sure you lock the door behind me. (glances at Christian) And try to take care of him. He looks pretty bad.
Coop leaves with Lovisa close behind. A moment later, Lovisa comes back into the room. She hurries over to Christian.
LOVISA Baby, you just sit here and I will go fix you up some new meds. I found this great potion in my book that I think will work.
She kisses him on his thin black lips then dashes off.
INT. CELLAR - NIGHT
Lovisa rushes down the stairs. She stops by the wooden altar. She reads from the old book of spells, mumbles to herself. In a wooden bowl she mixes different items. She stirs with a wooden spoon.
A gloved hand reaches out from the darkness. It grabs the giant shimmering dildo. Lovisa senses something wrong. She turns around. Screams!! The heavy glass phallus hits her in the head with a loud clang. Lovisa's favorite item of worship breaks in half. She sags to the floor with a thump.
Tommy sneaks through the living room. He sees an empty wheelchair.
TOMMY What the fuck?
There is a noise behind him, he turns around. He is smacked in the face with a pink gun. He falls straight to the ground.
Christian stands over him. His skin is not as pale, his lips are closer to their normal color. He has a small vile in his hand. He holds it up.
CHRISTIAN This was the medicine I really needed.
INT. CELLAR - LATER
Christian stands over Lovisa's body, her head surrounded by a pool of blood. He kneels down next to her. He runs his hands through her blood soaked hair.
CHRISTIAN I'm sorry mom. I'll do what I have to do to finish this.
He leans forward and kisses her on her lips.
INT. LOVISA'S LIVING ROOM - MOMENTS LATER
Christian walks into the living room. Tommy is gone.
CHRISTIAN That's okay, I know where you're going.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - DAY
Coop sits behind his desk. There are two lines of cocaine in front of him. He snorts them up. He rubs his nose with his fingers.
COOP That kid did have good shit.
The office door opens. Tommy enters, his nose is crooked and purple. He slams the door behind him.
COOP What the fuck?!
He gets up out of his chair.
TOMMY Sit down, shut up, we gotta fuckin' problem.
COOP Looks like you're the one with the fucking problem. What the fuck happened to your face?
TOMMY Lovisa's junkie kid.
COOP Get the fuck outta here, he's a fucking vegetable.
Tommy shakes his head.
TOMMY Nah he aint. I think he was making it look worse than it was.
Tommy takes out a cigarette and lights it up.
COOP So what's the problem, other than you being wanted for murder.
TOMMY Lovisa's dead.
Coop slowly sits down.
COOP What?
TOMMY And I think it was her crackhead son that killed her.
COOP You think he's the one, the killer.
TOMMY Makes sense, he makes people think he's fuckin' Mr. Potato head, no one would think twice.
COOP Shit.
TOMMY You need to get everyone on this, take that fuckin' kid out, and I'm talkin' shoot to fuckin' kill, then the law will be off my fuckin' ass.
The office door swings open. Christian charges in with a pink gun in his hand. He locks the door behind.
CHRISTIAN Nobody fuckin' move!
Both Coop and Tommy put their hands in the air.
CHRISTIAN This ends today, right fuckin' now. One of you dickless shitheads killed my mother.
COOP Calm down Christian.
CHRISTIAN Don't you fuckin' tell me to calm down! It's time to get everything out in the open.
Christian looks over at Tommy, he sees the cigarette in his hand. He walks over to him and snatches it from him. He puts it in his mouth and takes a drag. He steps backs.
CHRISTIAN Lets start at the beginning. My sister. The douche bag mayor who was sitting in that chair before you, who happened to be my shithead father, had her killed, and it wasn't that fist and foot jockey, one of you knows that, because I know that. That's why one of you tried to take me out. Didn't quite work though did it?
COOP And how do you know that?
CHRISTIAN Because I found this.
He pulls out what looks like a tiny tape recorder with a mic in it. He clicks the play button.
MARK'S VOICE I mean how do you think the people of this town would react if they knew the Mayor hired a professional fighter to kill his long lost daughter? You know my number. Call me.
COOP Where did you find that?
CHRISTIAN At my mothers, I don't know where she found it though, but I'm pretty sure that this was the reason she was killed.
Christian takes another drag from his cigarette.
CHRISTIAN Then there was that Comedian asshole, he was getting a little too close with your fall guy, and after he was killed he might have put two and two together, so he was next. And then the fuckin' crazy church lady. Crush up some ex in her sugar, salt, she ends up looking crazy, then you could pin it on her, but when she got off you couldn't let her walk.
Christian drops his cigarette, it burns into the carpet.
TOMMY What about the sheriff?
CHRISTIAN I have to take credit for that one. I shot the Sheriff. (singing) But I didn't shoot the Deputy.
He laughs.
CHRISTIAN I didn't know what he knew and didn't, so I offed him. I'm sorry Coop, I know you liked suckin' on his fat cock and all.
Christian swings the gun towards Coop.
CHRISTIAN So who is it........the cocksucker.
He swings the gun towards Tommy.
CHRISTIAN Or the Motherfucker?
COOP It doesn't have to be like this.
Christian Swings the gun back and forth between the two.
CHRISTIAN Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a douch bag by his toes, if he hollers let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
The gun stops at Coop, he puts his hands in front of him.
CHRISTIAN Shit!
He turns to Tommy.
CHRISTIAN I was really hoping it was gonna be you. Fuck it, I was gonna kill you both anyways.
Tommy charges at Christian and tackles him. The gun goes off. Coops index, middle and ring finger on his left hand blow off. Coop screams like a school girl with a scraped knee.
He falls onto his desk. A coffee mug that holds several pens falls off the desk. Pens roll onto the floor. Christian and Tommy struggle for the gun as Coop screams in pain.
Tommy is on top of Christian. A pen rolls next to him. Christian grabs it and stabs Tommy in the right eye. He falls back.
TOMMY My fuckin' eye!
Coop still screams.
COOP (In a high pitched squeal)
He shot my fingers off!
Christian opens the window and jumps onto the fire escape. Tommy pulls the pen out of his eye, jelly oozes out.
TOMMY Son of a bitch!
Tommy picks up the pink gun and heads for the window.
He sees Christian running down the street. He passes a young woman who is holding onto a little girl.
Tommy fires. The bullet hits the little girl in the head. Her brains splatter onto her mothers face.
TOMMY Shit!
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - DAY
SUPER ON: ONE WEEK LATER
Coop sits behind his desk, his hand bandaged up, he only has his pinky and thumb. He runs his other hand through his hair.
COOP Fuck this!
He gets up and leaves his office.
EXT. CRAB ALLY - DAY
Tommy walks along the ally wearing a hoody, there is an eye patch over his eye.
TOMMY I'm gonna get you!
EXT. POINT VIEW WALK - DAY
Christian strolls along Point view walk. There is a gun shoved down the front of his pants He takes out a joint and lights it up.
A black car pulls up behind him. He turns around. The car speeds towards him.
He is struck and flies onto the hood. He holds on tight. The car comes to a quick stop. Christian flies off. His body skids along the ground. He rolls onto his back.
His face is covered in blood, bones stick out of one of his arms and one of his legs.
The car door opens. Christian pulls out his gun. A figure makes their way closer to him. Christian's eyes open wide.
CHRISTIAN So it was you.
Christian smiles.
CHRISTIAN Well I'm not going to give you the fucking satisfaction.
He puts the gun to his temple.
CHRISTIAN See you in hell.
He pulls the trigger. His brains shoot out the side of his head. The figure walks back to their car. He kicks the tire in anger.
Tommy sits on a picnic bench, hands cuffed behind his back. He takes in deep breaths, pain on his haggard face. His crotch is a bloody, dripping mess.
CHOMPER, a 120 pound, pure white Alaskan Malamute, lies dead on the ground. Blood surrounds his head like a halo.
Officer Carson has his 2 way radio to his mouth.
COOP (V.O.) Where the fuck are you?
CARSON Your back yard…and Coop…
COOP (V.O.) Yeah?
CARSON He killed Chomper…shot him at close range with a pink revolver.
INT. MAYOR’S OFFICE – CONTINUOUS
Coop sits at his desk, an outraged look on his face.
COOP Chomper’s dead? That fuckstick shot my dog?
CARSON (V.O.) Afraid so, Coop. Looks like he was trying to break into your house. I found an explosive device on him. EMC’s on their way now. I’m sorry…
Coop slams his casted fist down on his desk. He winces in pain.
COOP Son of a fucking bitch! Listen, cancel EMC. Bring that fuck to the dock. I’ll meet you there in 10 minutes.
Coop shakes his head, reaches into the desk drawer, pulls out large hunting knife.
EXT. COOP’S HOUSE - BACKYARD – CONTINUOUS
Tommy listens intently from a few feet away.
TOMMY I need an ambulance. That mutt chomped my nads. Please…I need help.
Carson turns.
CARSON Sir…uh…I really think we need to get him some medical attention.
Silence from the 2 way.
CARSON (CONT.) Coop? Coop? Are you there?
He re-attaches the radio to his shoulder strap, approaches Tommy.
CARSON Well, Lapsic, looks like you’re taking a little boat ride.
EXT. LAKE SIMPLY DOCK – MOMENTS LATER
Coop hops out of a black car. Carson holds Tommy, in front of the pier.
CARSON Coop, I don’t like this. He’s wanted for the murder of that little girl. Let’s follow procedure.
Coop approaches them, a scowl on his face.
COOP Officer, who’s in charge here again?
CARSON You are, sir.
COOP Correct. And who’s next in line to be sheriff of this Goddamned forsaken town?
CARSON Uh…that would be me, sir.
COOP Correct again. And who is going to appoint you sheriff of this fuckhole town?
CARSON I understand. What do you want me to do, Mayor?
Coop walks up, spits in Tommy’s face. He walks past them, towards an awaiting yacht, motions with his arm.
COOP Bring him aboard. We’re not going to call this in. Do you understand me?
Tommy’s face is white as a sheet. Fear evident in his eyes.
TOMMY What the fuck is this? Carson, you can’t let this happen.
Carson follows Coop, with Tommy in tow.
TOMMY You son of a bitch! You think you’re gonna get away with this?
Coop punches him in the gut, hard. Tommy winces, almost drops to his knees.
COOP You killed my fucking dog? You think you’re gonna get away with that? Fuck you, motherfucker!
EXT. YACHT – AT SEA – MOMENTS LATER
The yacht turns west, away from land. Coop drives with his good hand. Tommy lies on the bridge, while Carson watches from a few feet away.
TOMMY What’re you gonna do with me? Carson…you can’t allow this to happen!
Coop turns to Carson…puts his casted hand on his shoulder.
In one swift motion, Coop pulls out the hunting knife and drives it deep into Carson’s stomach.
Carson goes wide eyed.
CARSON What the fu…
He drops to his knees, and then backwards off the bridge to the deck below.
Tommy watches in horror.
COOP What am I gonna do with your ass? I’m gonna do what Hawk and I should have done a long time ago. I’m gonna cut your fucking head off and bury your ass at sea, you sick, little pervert.
Coop looks down at Carson’s dead body.
COOP Sorry old buddy…didn’t have a choice.
TOMMY Holy shit! It was you all along, huh? You orchestrated this whole Lake Simply Killer scam? You’re a cold blooded fucking psycho! You think you’re going to get away with it?
COOP I’m not a psycho, Tommy. A cold blooded killer? Yeah, I guess I am. No one’s innocent here, though. Things got set in motion, and one by one, people died. Shit, people die all the fucking time. You want to know how it all went down before you die, bitch?
Tommy wiggles on the ground, tries to free his hands. No use…he’s cuffed tight.
TOMMY Yeah, you fuck. Humor me.
The yacht continues on, into open water. Coop pulls back on the throttle. The ship slows a bit.
COOP Well, Mr. Bond, here’s how it all went down. That fuck Andrew was sent here by the IRS to look into my finances. I was into some shady shit, and he was getting too close…so I had to get rid of him. Giselle was the perfect little assassin, bless her sweet pussy. After she blew him up, I had to get rid of her, so I shot her in her beautiful face.
TOMMY I know…I watched it all go down. I was hiding just off shore, you sick bastard.
Coop smiles.
COOP You were huh? Interesting. Yeah, it was too bad, cause that girl sure could fuck…wettest little clam I’ve ever eaten. Such a shame. Doris going psycho, worked perfectly. All of a sudden, we had a serial killer on our hands, and I was in the clear. Had to get rid of that fat fuck Mayor, so I could move right into his position. Good old Hawk saw to that for me. Damn, he was a good man.
TOMMY I should have turned your ass in when I had the chance.
COOP Yes, you should have, dickface, but you didn’t, did you? You had way too many illegal dealings going on...your little porn and drug racket? Your little con games? No one would have believed you, Tommy, old boy…no one.
TOMMY C’mon, man, can’t we work something out here? I’ll never say a thing…I’ll just disappear…and you can…
COOP Don’t worry, you are going to disappear, and you won’t ever say anything, but that’s going to be cause dead fucks can’t talk.
Coop rolls the bloody knife around in his good hand.
TOMMY Oh shit, man. C’mon. You can’t do me like this.
COOP No? Oh, trust me, I can…and I will.
TOMMY Wait…wait just a minute. What about the others? Doris? Mark? Lovisa? You killed ‘em all too?
COOP I had Doris killed to put your ass on the run. Worked perfectly, didn’t it?
Tommy gets to a seated position.
TOMMY Yeah, fuck you, asshole!
COOP Lovisa killed Mark, I think. Revenge for him killing her daughter, Annika. And Lovisa herself? I thought you took her out. Come clean, now Tommy. The way I see it, she fucked your ass with that big dildo, and then you smashed her head in with it.
TOMMY Fuck you! I didn’t kill Lovisa. I actually loved that big titted old bitch. I thought it was you.
COOP Interesting…must have been that whacko Christian then. So you didn’t spill any blood after all…well, other than that innocent little girl you shot in the head. You know what they say…what comes around goes around, my friend.
Ahead of the yacht, a rocky outcropping appears. The yacht looks to be on a collision course with it.
TOMMY Fuck you, Coop! Uncuff me, and take me out like a man. Let’s see how it’ll play out.
Coop calmly approaches Tommy, the knife out in front, a cold, smile on his lips.
CRASH!
The yacht plows into the rocks, comes to a dead stop. Coop and Tommy are catapulted down to the deck below. Coop’s cast smashes down hard, dislocating his remaining fingers. The knife flies out of his hand, spins to a stop behind Carson’s lifeless body.
COOP FUCK!
Tommy somersaults backwards, pulls Carson’s revolver from its holster. Takes aim at Coop, in front of him.
TOMMY What comes around, goes around, you fuck. See ya round.
BANG! BANG!
Two shots tear into Coop’s chest, blowing him backward, into the cabin.
Tommy sits wide eyed, the smoking gun in his cuffed hands.
EXT. YACHT – AT SEA – MOMENTS LATER
Tommy unlocks the cuffs with Carson’s key. He re-attaches the cuffs to Carson’s belt, drops the key back into his pocket. He looks around, nervously, wipes off the gun with his shirt and puts it into Carson’s hand.
He grabs the 2 way from Carson’s shoulder strap, brings it to his mouth.
TOMMY All units, all units. This is Carson. Need immediate backup. We have a situation here.
PEOPLE sun bake on the beach, others splash in the shallows.
Simply Java is packed with PEOPLE.
Simply Food is also packed with CUSTOMERS.
Tommy walks past Simply Food, a group of TOURISTS follow him.
Tommy stops, turns to the crowd before him.
TOMMY And that concludes the tour, thanks for visiting Lake Simply. Feel free to grab a bite from Lake Simply’s premier restaurant, Simply Food. Great food, at even better prices.
The tourists clap and disperse as Tommy smiles. INT. SIMPLY ADMINISTRATION - LATER
Tommy sits at a desk. JOHN, 30 walks in.
JOHN Tommy my man, you are a genius.
TOMMY Keep talking...
JOHN The amount of visitors have gone up by twenty percent. This place is thriving, and it’s all because of you.
TOMMY Hey, I’m just trying to make light of an unfortunate situation. Coop the killer results in Tommy the richer.
JOHN You really shouldn’t be a poet...
John walks over and sits on the other side of the desk.
TOMMY I could be one if I wanted... (beat) You used to being a mayor yet? Easier than you thought, hey?
JOHN Much easier. How is your sausage and two meatballs? Pain gone away?
TOMMY Those guys at the surgery are amazing. Still mild pain, but I’m back in action baby!
JOHN I wish I could chose the size of my cock. I don’t think I would make mine thirty five center meters though...
TOMMY That’s what it was before. Why change a good thing?
JOHN Good point -
Suddenly, a brick smashes through the window. It lands on the desk.
John and Tommy raise their hands to protect themselves as class shatters everywhere.
TOMMY What the fuck...
Tommy goes to the broken window, looks out.
SARAH, 35 stands there, hands on hips.
TOMMY (CONT’D) What do you want this time, Sarah?
SARAH The usual Tommy. You, and your scummy, lying arse out of business.
TOMMY Not gonna happen, baby...
SARAH Do not call me baby! I know the truth about Coop’s death, and soon the whole world will too!
Tommy retreats from the window, as he closes the curtain. He looks at John.
TOMMY Coop’s sister. Thinks she knows everything. Stupid bitch has been spreading rumours saying that I killed Coop! Absurd.
John laughs.
TOMMY (CONT’D) The lengths some people will go to, eh?!
Tommy nods, looks at his watch.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Oh, news time. I’m gonna be on again tonight.
John flicks the television on. A reporter talks to the camera.
It cuts to Tommy.
TELEVISION:
A tear falls down Tommy’s face.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Rape, is not a joke. (beat) Coop raped me. Many times, over the period he had me locked up. (beat) I was his rag doll for two whole months. He even ate my genitals. (beat) I can’t express enough my negative feelings for him. But I think I am able to say that I hate him, from the bottom of my soul for what he did to me.
Tommy bows his head. Sniffs. He looks at the camera.
TOMMY (CONT’D) If you want to support me, I will be accepting donations. I will also be giving tours around Lake Simply, showing you every area of the town in which I was abused.
Tommy wipes away a tear from his face.
TOMMY (CONT’D) With your help, you can fix me. With your help, you can heal me. With you help, I can become human once again...
INT. SIMPLY ADMINISTRATION - CONTINUOUS
John cries.
JOHN It gets me every time.
TOMMY I know, I know.
Pause.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Anyway, I got a meeting in a minute and have to make a few calls before.
JOHN I will leave you to it. Drinks tonight?
Tommy winks at John. John walks out.
INT. MEETING ROOM - LATER
Tommy sits at the end of a long table with MEN in suits.
TOMMY Gentlemen, my vision is clear. As I’ve been explaining for the last hour, Lake Simply has such an immense amount of potential. (beat) I want to make Lake Simply, simply the best. The best holiday family destination in this part of the world.
The men around the table nod.
TOMMY (CONT’D) I need funding though, to get create my vision a reality. Can I get a quick show of hands to see who is interested in making Lake Simply, simply the best?
The majority of men raise their hands.
TOMMY (CONT’D) Fantastic. You will have an opportunity now to transfer to money instantly into an account.
INT. MEETING ROOM - LATER
Tommy stands at the door. He shakes hands with the men from before, as they walk past him.
TOMMY Thanks guys, someone will call you in the next few days...
INT. SIMPLY ADMINISTRATION - LATER
Tommy stands at a desk. He holds a cardboard box in his hands. A RECEPTIONIST sits behind the desk.
TOMMY I’m going away for a little while, hold all my calls.
The receptionist smiles and nods.
Tommy walks out of the door.
EXT. TOMMY’S CAR - CONTINUOUS
Tommy places the box in his car, then gets in. He puts on a pair of sunglasses, starts the engine. He looks in the rear vision mirror at Lake Simply.
TOMMY That was fun.
SARAH Was it?
Tommy turns around in his seat. Sarah sits in the back seat, a gun trained on Tommy’s head.
TOMMY What the fu -
Sarah shots Tommy. Brain splatters all over the car.
SARAH “Fuck” was the word you were looking for I think. Or maybe “fudge” or “fungus”. I suppose we will never know.
