Folks,
In an effort to call out those folks who have not only participate in the OWC by writing a script, but also who have actively read and reviewed scripts in the challenge, I have added the "Thumbs Up" icon next to his/her script. This does not mean that the script itself is of merit or anything, it just means that the person who wrote it as read and reviewed at least 1/3 of the total OWC scripts.
Writers, if you think I'm in error, send me a PM and I'll adjust.
Also, I'll be updating the 'thumbs up' nearly every evening.
Don

This is a very good idea and I'm sure it will have people reading more. Now if you'd excuse me, I've got some reading to do.

Hey, I got a thumb.
Talk about patting a reader's back and giving him/her a boost. Excellent idea, Don. |

Thumbs up have been updated. In a couple of cases the writer has gotten a thumbs up despite reviewing less than a 1/3 of the scripts. This is because the reviews he/she did write were pretty in depth. Also, note that merely commenting "I liked this script," does not constitute a review. Please review as you want to be reviewed.

While I am sure this is additional hassle for you, Don -- and frankly it is shame that you even have to do it at all -- I have found this particular innovation to be particularly helpful.
Well done, clever, and completely fair.
Not only do I not feel compelled to read the 'non-thumbed' scripts -- once the names are revealed -- I will feel hard-pressed to have any interest in any other works by these authors.
People who submit scripts to the OWC without reading anything in return annoy me more than just about anything else on these boards. |

I only reviewed a few, but i didnt submit a script....just don't want people to think i'm one of those who submitted a script and then didn't read many. I started to write one but wasn't able to finish it. It's about a glove and a mitten locked inside a lost and found box....i'm still working on it. LOL. |

Good for you. Welcome to the boards. I, for one, will be sure to read your mitten script if you ever post it |

Aw. Bert's so sweet.
I would've read the scripts without the thumbs up prize. |

I think the "thumbs up" idea was great, and it seems to have positively affected the number of reviews. Twenty out of 33 scripts are thumbed, a pretty good percentage, I think. |

To get a thumb you have to read 1/3 I read it wrong before.
I was thinking that was easy to manipulate. If the thumb was EVERY script now that would be dedication but also would give away the author depending on how many people actually read that many.
I wonder if someone entered and to this point hasn't read anything. |

Great idea, Don. The first thing I did tonight was look for the thumbs up scripts that had the least amount of posts and they were the ones I read. As for the scripts with no thumbs, fuggedaboutit.
Three thumbs up for the thumbs up. |
