Why don't one of you guys who is playing start a new thread specific to the heats so we can track your progress?

I just came across the original thread about registration and some muppet had locked it. So I decided to take said muppet’s advice and start a thread to track progress.

I entered this. Here’s my information:

Heat: 13

Genre: Monster Movie
Subject: Smoking

Good luck to all who entered.

Oh...that's a good one.  Wish I was playing with that one.

Sounds like Pia got screwed, though haha.

Best of luck, Brea.  Like you need it.

Really? I thought it was a tough one. I’ve completed a rough first draft. I don’t know though. You never know. With competitions, it really just matters whether or not you’re inspired or not, I think. I feel pretty good about what I’m working on. We’ll see.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

I'm in heat #20 Comedy/A Chef.  I just LOVE writing comedy.  Everyone always laughs at EVERYTHING I write.  I should write comedy for a LIVING.  That would certainly pay my bills.

But seriously folks, good luck!

I got mockumentary / wealth

I would have killed to get slasher/taxman.

A lot of people said they would have loved to get what I got. Me? Well, I had to start by looking up what mockumentary is. That's a bad sign when you don't understand your assignment.

I came up with an idea, ran it by my husband who said it sounded real and that it wasn't funny.

So yeah, I feel really inspired and confident and thanks Bert for the encouraging comment.

Genre: Mystery
Subject: Farming

Can't complain really, although it's tough to build a mystery in 15 pages.

Good luck everyone. It's nice to see so many SS members in the contest. Looks like Cornetto, McClung, and Aimee are in the same heat.

Genre:  Comedy
Subject:  A bad penguin

What are the friggin' odds of this!!!!??

Actually, it's thriller/a witness.  I've playing playing with one idea in my head but I can't write it until I write two articles that I should've submitted to my editor last Friday.

How's everyone doing?

Since the initial tornado of brain farts subsided I'm completely at a loss. I haven't even written FADE IN yet and all I can think about is hardboiled eggs.

I reckon I'll end up writing a last minute entry on Saturday.

I haven't written anything either.

I felt that I have written enought shorts by now, that if I really focused and tried really hard I could give this a shot. Then when I got mockumentary I was really really disappointed. I wasn't ready for that. Even though it's still written like a regular script, it's still different and I'm just not enthused enough about it to brainstorm. Add to that that I've been sick since last Saturday.

Good Luck to all you other people though.

There's something funny growing out in the fields, and it sure ain't cabbages.

It's marijuana.

I've written a page. It's been hard to find the time to write with work and other things. I've got my entire story planned out though and I've set aside some time to write over the last couple days. I'm hoping to just churn the thing out in a single sitting and spend the rest of the time revising it so it's dynamite (hopefully) by Saturday night.

My genre is comedy. Subject: a chef.

Good luck to everyone.

Well, what’s done is done. I’ve cut about all I can cut. I proofread it until I couldn’t stand to look at it, gave it some time, and worked on it some more. I think I’ve done all I can do. So I registered it with the WGAw and submitted it. I’m just waiting for email confirmation now.

I would like to thank Bert for technical advice. Thanks Bert!

If anyone needs some help, let me know. I make no guarantees that I’ll have any useful ideas but I’ll try.

I'm around to bounce ideas off if anyone is interested. I'm not involved in the competition.

Pia I even have a mockumentary for you.

Don't give up, Pia. Go watch a few episodes of The Office.  Also, look up 'Brass Eye' on YouTube. I'm sure you'll find some inspiration.

Hey Pia. I’m sorry you’ve been sick. Are you feeling any better?

Listen to Martin. He knows what’s best for you.
