This is not exactly a typical contest.

Radar Magazine is having a Project Redlight contest for the worst pitch.

"As you watch yet another megabucks Hollywood stinker (Fred Claus, anyone?), it's easy to think you could do better. But Radar has a tougher challenge: Could you do worse? We invite you to write the most unbearably awful movie idea of all time. "

You have to come up with the single line pitch, a brief description of your premise, your poster tagline and your cast.

The winner gets a box of DVDs and a "personal response" from Harvey Weinstein.  The contest closes on December 31, 2007.

We may already have a winner on these boards, T.C.  One of the best-worst loglines out there.

Stoned Patriots:  America's founding fathers travel through time with a magical talking bong.

It's a  random-logline generator joke that was actually carried through by its intrepid authors.

The script exists -- those interested can find it here:

It ain't too bad, either.

[Edit:  "Project Redlight"  haha.  I just now got it.  That's funny, too.]

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Bert, I think I might be able to top the bong script.

I don't know if they still do it but when I was in film school we'd have these hat drawing exercises.  You draw slips and you have to come up with a pitch/treatment/feature.

I have in my collection a feature that has: time travel, Ulysses S. Grant, a Lara Croft character, a plane crash and zombies.  It is of course entitled Grant vs. the Zombies.

I was gonna go with the pitch: "Finding Forrester...in space" but I've got something better now.

Oh COME ON!

You think only Americans can come up with ridiculous ideas for movies? Give the rest of us a chance! We can write crap too!
