Geez, I didn't think I'd get so many responses right away.  I hate that you guys/gals have apparently been burned  before on this type of thing.  I have legit credentials, though...and if I burn you, then I actually stand to lose a lot.  It is the fans of film, us writers and basic moviegoers/watchers that will make or break who I am....I know this....I live by this.  I will absolutely do what I say I will do.

This is also more about giving back.  Every website that has helped promote my feature debut, CRUEL, or my novel, HOLD, I have put up a thread like this one.  Dread Central, Bloody-Disgusting, Simply Scripts, Conflict Scripts, etc.  Now, the reason I'm not telling you all the exact details about the plot for the webseries is because this business is cutthroat.  I know I have a solid, pretty original idea - I've been stolen from before - I am not going to put my great idea in full on so many public forums to be taken by filmmakers with far more funding than I.  It sucks that it is that way...but that is the flat-out truth.

So, to better explain....I absolutely have 27 scene topics to a solid outline.  Per each topic, I do have a bit of a synopsis for what I want to occur/get across.  Each topic is about being disturbing to be horror instead of being gory to be horror.  Now, I am pretty accomplished at doing FX work...but that stuff gets so expensive, and I've always been more of a Hitchcock fan than an Argento fan, if you catch my meaning.  I am wanting to give the world something dialogue driven, character driven and situationally disturbing.  Put it this way...say if you read the Bible...it's not so much what the devil does that scares us...it's what he says most times that just gets under your skin.  Now, don't go thinking that my concept is supernatural...it's not...not at all.  It's based on realism...it could absolutely happen at anytime.

I've received several submissions already, and most of them are spot on with what I want.  Several others still show promise that they can fit in, too, with possibly a bit of guidance.  I really want 27 people working on this idea.  I'm confident it will work.  I'm more than confident that my crew and I can film this.

Duane P. Craig

P.S.  Hey, Shelton...you've actually been a myspace friend of mine for quite some time, now.  Just thought that was noteworthy

Hey, Duane,  I'm familiar with both you and CS.  I've talked to a couple people via emails about this, and pointed out that it's not a bad opportunity at all.

I've given some thought to submitting a sample myself, but am still trying to lock down whether or not I'll be able to participate if chosen.

It's all cool, Mike.  I know how people feel...to fully understand the fear of being burned.  It sucks the life out of you, too, if it happens.  Thanks for the back-up.

I've nearly finished my page of dialogue. It's about two "emo's" wanting to die. So maybe not what Duane wants...

PM me if anyone wants to have a read. Although I am scared that some poeple will see it as stereotypical and uninteresting dialogue compared to "Shelton" dialogue (he paid me five bucks to say that). Anyway I am having a go!

Anyone want to share what they have written?

That's cool.  I'll read the comical stuff, too.  Do try your hand at being serious, though, too.  I want to see what people are really capable of.  Try to disturb me with dialogue between two people.

I decided to take a crack at it, and I know a few others from here have as well, so I guess we'll just see what happens.

I've submitted something, but the disturbing aspect is highly contextual. The dialogue itself I created with a lack. It's intended to be subtle and useful for the actors.

It was my intention to create a disturbing dialogue that isn't "purist" if that makes any sense, meaning: The words themselves are not the disturbing factor, but the factor that is unseen and unsaid is what is disturbing. This is also reflected in the theme of the piece and its ending.

The opportunity to work on this was very satisfying even though it was built from a tragic event/s in history.

Yes, it was one page-- strange as it may sound.

This sounds like it could be fun, so I took a shot!  I have to say, it's really hard to limit yourself to one page.

If anybody would be willing to look over my dialogue and offer me some pointers/feedback before I submit, I'd appreciate it!  I'd be happy to read your submission as well.  This is actually my first time posting/submitting anything.

Thanks!

I have nothing that you can read.

I appreciate the pouring in of submissions.  This forum has doubled the number of submissions from the other forums as far as valid writers go.

Okay...I have something I'm going to submit. What have I got to lose, right?

I'd love to see what other people came up with. If you want to, you can have a look at mine...

This is the last day/night for submissions, so if you are serious about this, do please submit.

You have far outdone the other forums, too.  I thought for sure that posting similar threads to horror forums and film forums would make more of a buzz...apparently not.  I applaud all the effort from you all here at SS.  I will announce all selected writers on March 1st.  I will contact everyone via blanket email that day with further details going forward.

Until Sunday!
