Interesting that one of the companies specifies they are looking for pro scripts or competition winners. Maybe it's worth entering competitions after all.

Sean, I think you should submit Christmas story. You did a good job on it.

Couple reasons why I won't:

1. It's not ready (in fact, I just re-read a few passages and it's pretty damn terrible).
2. I don't have $50 to join Inktip (didn't I read somewhere that to contact them, you have to be part of the mailing list?).
3. It's not a guarantee (I know there's no such things). It's basically vying for the chance to re-write something of someone else's creation, pretty much on the fly.

Sean - last time i read christmas story I enjoyed it. Not saying this i the right thing to do, but don't be afraid to give it a chance. It was well done. What have you to lose?  Are you really going to spend hours improving it and then for who?

best of luck

I know, Bill, but I made a mistake is not putting enough emphasis on number two. That was the biggest stumbling block. Besides, every couple months, something comes up on Inktip that CS would fit perfectly so I don't see much of a need to rush it, especially when I don't have the funds at the current moment.

Below are more companies seeking scripts, which are available in this week's Preferred Newsletter (without contact information/credits). To receive the information, the cost is $60 for a four-month subscription (half price if you have a script on the site).

Company A
We are looking for completed, feature-length coming-of-age scripts, i.e. scripts in the vein of "Dead Poets' Society," "Mean Girls," "Adventureland," or "Superbad."

Budget will not exceed $10million. WG and Non-WG writers may submit.

Company B
We are looking for completed, feature-length, romantic comedy scripts with stories set in Austin, Texas, or which convey that unique Austin, TX hippie/arts vibe such that it could believably be set in Austin. We especially need fun, quirky material in the vein of "Bridget Jones Diary," "Muriel's Wedding," and "Amelie," but translatable to Austin, TX. When pitching, if you live in or are from the Austin area, please state as much in the personal message space.

Budget will not exceed $1million. WGA and non-WGA writers may submit.

Company C
We are looking for completed, feature-length, buddy action/comedy scripts written for two lead roles. Submissions should be in the vein of "48 Hours” or "Lethal Weapon.”

Budget will not exceed 10-15 million. WGA and non-WGA writers may submit.

Company D
We are looking for completed, feature length action films where most or all of the story takes place in a city setting. Scripts should be able to attract A-list talent, so we're looking for material in the vein of "Taken" or "The Bourne Identity."

Budget is open. WGA and Non-WGA writers may submit.

Company E
We are looking for half hour reality/semi reality TV pitches. We are interested in hearing all genres, from the next Honey Boo-Boo to the next Pawn Stars.

Budget is undetermined. WGA only writers may submit at this time.

Company F
We are looking for a writer with an understanding of Latino and Gay cultures, and as such we are seeking completed, feature length scripts demonstrating an understanding of both. Submissions can be in any genre and we are open to submissions from any and all writers as long as there are both Gay and Latino characters in the script. We especially prefer material from writers who have an understanding of current immigration reform issues like the Dream Act. Please note we are not looking for scripts to option, we are only looking for writing samples that convey an understanding of these two cultures in a potential writer/hire/collaboration opportunity.

Budget will not exceed $1million. WGA and non-WGA writers may submit.

Company G
We are looking for up-and-coming writers interested in a spec writing opportunity collaborating on existing story ideas and concepts to create feature-length screenplays. For consideration, interested writers should submit completed, feature-length, character-driven dramas to evaluate as writing samples. Submissions with faith-based elements are encouraged though not required. Writing samples must be limited as to location and cast with little to no FX/CGI. Writers must be in Los Angeles area with an interest in character-focused dramas. If interested, please pitch us your writing sample, but please note we are only looking for scripts to evaluate as writing samples.

Budget has not been determined. Non-WGA writers only at this time.

Company H
We are looking for completed, feature-length, epic, psychological thriller scripts. Submissions should be in the vein of "Donnie Darko” meets "Butterfly Effect”. We are not looking or anything gory but rather a "could-be” true story that haunts the mind. This will be shot in an eerie Eastern European or Scottish location, so script submissions should be written to reflect this. We are open to reading submissions that can be easily adapted to an Eastern European or Scottish location from writers willing to do a re-write. Stories must be very limited in location and cast. No period pieces or animation.

Budget will not exceed $300k. WGA and non-WGA writers may submit.

I just sent an e-mail over to the Sons Productions one looking for stuff like Drive and shit like that, but with a female driven lead, I believe it was?  I normally wouldn't bother but I have some confidence in the script.
