Two scripts Pia, impressive.

I have a first draft but I  am running out of time. This is more like a weekend challenge for me at the moment, but I still hope to enter.

I haven't started mine yet.  I will be doing so today.  There's still lots of time left.

I'm done and have submitted one. I may write another one but I won't be home and able to do it til Tuesday next week...But like Pia, I tend to write better when I have a deadline..not made by myself

Just a reminder that you have until the end of the week to submit these.  How's everybody going?

Just submitted.

Alas i have  run out of time so can't do anymore, but still worth a try. I go away tonight for a week. I had a couple of other scenes in mind but they will have to wait.

It was an interesting topic although i'm not sure my idea will be universally liked. Might as well get a few excuses in now. Did i mention i have had my mother in law staying as well!!

Good luck everyone, i look forward to reading the scripts.

If i can't dial in after this, have a great new year.

Have a ten pager. Using the rest of the time to polish. Add that quality voice.

Struggling here.  Had a hard time coming up with a decent story for some reason.  Also trying to write something for MP's open contest after coming down from the holiday madness.  Going out for some Guinness tonight...that should clear the cobwebs.

I've submitted one. Although, I'm not sure it fits the criteria now. I picked a topic and just made a story up on it...So, I wrote another one(more horror) and have tried to stick closer to the topic with the second one. I'm done with it. I'll proof it one more time and submit it tomorrow.

Ready to read some now!

Belated Merry Christmas
and a early
Happy New Year,
SS peeps!

Been busy, blah blah blah, whatever... (no one cares).

Anywho...
Just noticed this thread, thought it interesting and strangely relevant to a recent project I finished a couple months back at another indie film site and thought I might share how screenplay goes to product.

Relevant urban legend: http://www.snopes.com/horrors/parental/parental.asp
Kidnapper abducts child...

Screenplay: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8Bznn8D13zONDY1YmQ4MjgtMjY0Ny00NjJiLWI4ZmUtMTI3NzY0MWFiNWJj

The biggest alteration from script to screen was the complete dropping of any dialog.
Somehow, the visual images alone were sufficient enough to warrant some pretty intense responses including "Most Disturbing Film":

"Holy crap! Ray, that was truly horrifying... in a good way, of course. Well done."

"ray, I think I'm too a-scared to watch your movie. "

" it went waaay past creepy. First shot was creepy, then it went to disturbing, then the end stats and it went horrifying."

"Holy! Shit! rayw, that was incredibly effective. For much of the duration of the video, I was worried about the state-of-mind of the filmmaker... But yikes, you scared the bejeesus out of me."

"I just wanted to throw out props to rayw.

I've always viewed the horror genre as only encompassing either ridiculous black comedy, or pure exploitation. Never until I saw this did I see value in any horror film... Please note that I am NOT knocking horror fans or any of the movies that I haven't personally seen, but just for myself, this is the first time I've seen true value in the genre."

"Ray's blew my mind. That was one of the most intense short films I've ever seen and definitely the best... contest film since I've been around. Well done!"

From script to screen - things change.
And that's okay and to be expected, even when you're the writer/director.

Hope someone finds this useful over the next few days.
GL, everyone!

Just discovered this one. Nice idea, Mike. I'm just having a butchers at the link now. I've got tonight and tomorrow. If an idea comes, I'll join in. At the very least, I'll have a read on those entered.

Great work Ray!

Even though it was a doll my mind kept seeing a toddler. So congratulations! You made something horrible!

I was wondering where you went btw. Hope you stick around. Not one single person has posted  a spreadsheet since you left.

I feel like my concept worked a lot better in my head than it does on paper. Oh well.

My script is only four pages, but I'm gonna submit it anyway. Maybe readers can give me some ideas for expanding it (if it's worth the trouble).

This was a decent challenge. I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone else came up with.
