This thread will be locked until the official start of the 7WC.  However, since those that entered the OWC have a bit of a headstart – if they want it, I felt it important to give those that didn't enter the OWC a bit of a headstart as well.

The Ides of March 7WC will provide incentive for you to write a relevant feature film (at least 90 pages) within 7 weeks.  It will start near the Ides of March or March 17th to be exact and will end  May 5th (if I did my maths correctly).

To enter you merely need to submit your script by the end date to the unproduced section of the site  with a comment that it's for the 7WC.  Your script must be one of the approved topics (which I'll detail below).

For added incentive you can publically anounce in this thread that you are going to take part.  In which case we will all consider that a committment.  You might wonder how this helps... Well, if you commit and don't finish a script then we are all going to be very disappointed.  You wouldn't want that would you? So you better just finish one.  Get it now?  I really recommend you go this route if you plan to enter.

In addition, you might want to publish your logline in this thread.  Other people taking the challenge can give it (and therefore your story) a bit of a sanity check.

Also, other people taking the challenge will be more than willing to give you a pep talk when you need it and help you through the other writing issues you are having.

Once the scripts are posted, you'll be expected to read and comment on at least a few of them.

Everyone is a winner here – at the end of the challenge you'll have a finished draft of a feature script you can hopefully turn into a marketable product and some comments to help you on your way.

You are permitted to partner with another member to write your script.  However, you should realize this does not necessarily make the task easier.

The topics for this 7WC are...

1.If you entered the OWC you may continue your script about witches.  You aren't obligated to finish that script but you may (only if you entered the OWC).
2.Found footage.  Write a found footage script.  It may be any genre/subject.  However, it must be low budget and rely on found footage to tell the story.
3.Low budget contemporary thriller, sci-fi, or comedy.   Character driven. Five or fewer locations.

Good writing everyone...

Khamanna, I did not have anything to do with organizing this time. We have to thank Michael and Don for this.

I am surprised that only 8 scripts got entered. I have read 3 of those. I read a found footage script by Ryan and I assumed that his script was intended for the 7WC, but I guess it wasn't. It was a really great script though.

As I have mentioned before, the reason I did not post mine was because I already had some interest in it and yesterday I got word that Arterial Motives will be shot later this summer. Like I have said many times, there is no better place than SS to post your scripts at. Professionals do peruse the vast amounts of scripts here.

Now I'm going to read the 1st script on the 7WC list.

Three guesses where that script wound up and the first two don't count!
If you threw the g-word out there to Ryan, that script will never get on the boards.
Guaranteed it's already in the hot little paws of a certain broad we all know.

Brilliant news pia - that would be two feature films, or is it three? Impressive.

That actually makes it 3 this year!! which I think is rather unbelievable. I would have said that was no way that could happen to anyone 6 months ago.

The deal is the same as with Blackout.  5% of budget and 5% of backend. I don't know if this will be a better deal than the other 2 Because I had no idea what the budget will be yet. I think they will try to get a larger budget this time so they can hire name actors Though.    We'll see.

I didn't submit because I actually thought this was postponed and even though I checked in, I could not find the related thread. Just as well. When I look at the options on criteria:

- the 2/12 OWC Witches short expansion (not interested)

- found footage (not a big fan of the sub-genre- but I will be entering MPs short on this)

- horror-sci-fi/thriller on limited locations (more likely)

That said, in the past few months I have been expanding one of my old OWC to feature length. I been focused on building up review points over at Talentville to build up credits for it when it's done. Might show up here too shortly after the 7wk are over and done.
