Hi everyone,

I work for Disney Research Zurich and we are currently seeking participants for an ongoing research project. As we are looking for creative people, this forum seemed a good place to inquire if any members might be interested. Having received permission to post this on the forum I was not quite sure which topic to place it under. Would be happy to repost elsewhere if need be.

This is not a job but a (paid) opportunity to participate in cutting edge research. Participants can contribute as much or as little time as they like, as the project takes place online. Please check out our ad below for details.

---

Disney Research Zurich is seeking creative people to participate in an innovative research project running from the middle of June through August 2015. Professionals and amateurs from all creative fields are welcome to apply: filmmakers, screenwriters, artists, actors, composers, photographers, designers. If your background does not fit these categories but you have strong creative interests feel free to apply as well.

This project is a storytelling workshop that takes place entirely online. It is a research project and the results will be used solely for research purposes. No content from the workshop will be sold or put to commercial use.

To apply for the workshop please fill out and submit the application form on our website:

storytelling-workshop.disneyresearch.com/

Submitting the form does not commit to or guarantee participation. If you are selected to participate you will receive further details before being asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

This is an international project and we are looking for participants of all nationalities across many locations. Language of the workshop is English. Participation will be compensated with 50 CHF (Swiss francs), paid via PayPal.

It's around £35 or $60.

Not enough to tempt me.

The NDA turned me off.

If this is never going to be used for commercial use then why the NDA?

I just feel that whatever creative ideas are given to them then it will become their property so really the compensation is just for them taking all your ideas.

Sorry I'm out...

The BBC did the same thing with Dr Who years ago. They actually stole the idea for Davros from a 13-year-old kid.

That's what I was thinking... Roll up, roll up, sell all your creative ideas right here, and we'll pay you the bargain-basement one-off price of $50! Then later we'll make billions and you won't see a penny of it.

Hi, thanks for your responses. The NDA is partly for our protection so that the details of the project remain confidential and partly so that we can present the material produced at research conferences (including film screenings). The material will not be used for any commercial film production. Participants can contribute as much or as little time and material as they like and are of course free to cease participation whenever they want.

I signed up yesterday and was accepted. Figured I'd give it a try if just for the experience alone. It seems we'll get a series of writing prompts and along with the others in the workshop work collaboratively to continue them, through writing, pictures, and outlines together.

Whoa, they sent you an acceptance letter that fast?  I guess that means if you apply and don't get a response right away that you aren't accepted.  I guess that's okay, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it or not.  I did apply, but, that's okay.
