Winners of the competition for new one-hour drama series will get £10k development funding
The C21 Drama Series Script Competition is looking for the next big thing in international TV drama. One winner from the UK and one from outside the UK will receive development funding and assistance to turn their drama project into a serial.
The competition is for aspiring writers who are not yet earning a living from writing for TV and have yet to have a script commissioned.
To enter the competition submit a new, original, uncommissioned script (under two years old, no longer than 60 pages) and a treatment that includes information about the series concept.
There is a £40 entry fee. The closing date is 16 October.

Pretty solid prize.

Any requirements about the series itself, i.e., does it need to be UK-set? Or can it be international?

Quoted from Dustin

Toby -- They're international, so it doesn't matter where you want to set the script. Remember though, to write good drama means understanding your audience. A British resident will have a hard time writing US drama because the pop culture is so different. You're well travelled so you could write an ex pat thing. They go down well.... sometimes way down, like Eldorado.

Perfect. I've been hashing out a Wire-esque exploration of the U.S.-Mexico drug wars for the past year now, so looks like it might be time to finally bash this one out.

Almost submitted here but then I read the terms and conditions. Keep in mind you basically give your screen away to an exclusive option for 12 months if you make it to the finals. 12 month in which you can't sell your script to anyone else.

Sounds like a rip off to me, you pay to join a contest and if you make it to the finals, you lose your rights on the script for 12 months as a prize. Unless I misunderstood these conditions, I'll stay away from this one.
