IMO, I don't think writing a script with the intention of selling it straight off is the right way to go. Scriptwriting is about having fun, getting your feelings/opinions out and expressing yourself. If you ask me, the money earned from it is just surplus material.
A good script comes from somebody pouring their heart and soul into it, without sounding cheesy. If every time you're writing a script, you're seeing nothing but dollar signs, I'm afraid your completely missing the point of screenwriting - and that's definitely gonna show on your work.
Levon, my intension were to never sell the script but turn it into a feature film, but every time I start a working relationship with fake people who don't delivery on promises its the next option since I exhausted every option to get it made. I'm not just looking for dollars signs, instead I'm looking for someone who would like to take my project and making someone of it.
Well, that's great you have ambitions to turn your script into a feature, and you should definitely keep this motivation you have to succeed. But, if your script is perfected, your gonna attract a lot more professional attention turning it into a feature should come a lot easier - provided you put the effort in. I know you've mentioned selling it for someone to re-write it, but come on, that should really be something that YOU want to do. Otherwise, it's kinda just like your selling rights to a novel or a short story.
I'm sure Dreamscale didn't mean to come off as a jerk, but the way you were wording it beforehand made it look like you were only out for the money. As I said, screenwriting is about expressing yourself and this site is to help you improve on doing so, but at the moment, You have 17 posts, at least 5 being on this thread alone and that shows no desire to improve at screenwriting. I've only reviewed a small number of scripts, probably around 20, but I've already learnt a lot about what makes a good script and what doesn't. You presented yourself to be uninterested in mastering scriptwriting.
Levon, I hear where your coming from 100%. If I came off looking to make a quick buck that's not my attention. I'm very passionate about my scripts and the energy I've put into it. I'm just frustrated in dealing with unprofessional who are full of it. I just figure if I sold it my name would get out there in a different way.
I'm going to make the necessary corrections to make this script even stronger, thank you Levon for your comments, it touch a nerve that's got me motivated so I'm no longer selling the script.
