Since there isnt a thread like this, and we dont know eachothers specifics, I thought Id take the liberty of asking.  I basically only post in "I wrote a script" so i dont really care about people outside this forum, hence why i didnt make this in gen chat or elsewhere.  So whats your name, age, gender, location, and highest level of education completed? Or major in college if you went/go.  What kind of music do you listen to? Name bands, because if you say punk, and you mean avril lafuck, that isnt my deffinition. Whats your favorite writer or director? What are your hobbies other than writing?

My name is Luke, I am 21 yrs old, almost 22.  I am obviously male, and I live in Orlando Florida.  I am a Digital Media major at University of Central Florida, and am on the 7 year plan, which means Ive gone to UCF since I was 18 yrs old, but took years off here and there due to finances.  I listen to mainly metal, punk, hardcore and classic rock.  I like bands like metallica, slayer, iron maiden, children of bodom, zeppelin, the velvet underground, the stooges, the misfits, danzig, ect.  Ive played guitar for 10 years and play in various bands in the orlando area.  I also surf and skateboard.  My favorite writer is Elmore Leonard, and my favorite director is Quentin Tarantino.

I'm 15, live in New York. I listen to basically just classic rock, alternative rock, some metal, and other types I guess. I just like alot of bands. A big range between bands. I go from Zeppelin to Metallica to The Strokes to Linkin Park to Alice in Chains to The Beatles. You catch my drift. I'd say that right now, my favorite bands are The Offspring (old stuff mostly), Incubus, and Finger Eleven (a great band that most americans have not heard of unfortunately). I live in North Carolina, I love to write scripts, and act. You should read my campous killer series in the horror section and tell what you think. I have a very broad taste in music ranging from The Dixie Chicks to Metallica (I know thats werid). My faviorite bands are proably System of a Down, Staind and The White Stripes, but like I said, I have faviorites in lots of different genres. My fav. movies of all time are "Jaws", "Pulp Fiction" & "Halloween". It is so hard for me to pick a faviorite director because I admire so many but id say my faviorites are Speilberg, Fincher & Paul Thomas Anderson. My faviorite screenwriters are Smith, Tarantino & Shymalayn, all who write great scripts, but to me arnt that great directors (Tarantino's only great film to me is Pulp Fiction, Resivoir Dogs, while having a very good script, wasnt executed very well in my eyes. Hopefully Kill Bill will rule all) Other then that I really cant think of much else to say other then that I have been a huge movie buff all my life and hope to be a writer/director someday, even though that is an unrealistic goal.

Hi. My name is Tyrice. I'm a 19 year old male, I live in Delaware, and contrary to what my screen name would have you believe, I am neither fat, nor a sandwich. I listen to a lot of music. Rage Against the Machine, AFI, Blackalicious, STUN, System of a Down, Hot Hot Heat, Cody Chestnutt... Hendrix, The Doors, man I could go on forever. I like everything. I graduated from high school a couple years ago so I'm just working while I decide what I'm gonna do. My plans are to go to school this winter, but I change my mind a lot, so who knows.

Oddly enough, I'm not really big into movies. I can't name any screenwriters that have influenced me because none have. I don't watch many movies and the only reading I ever do is old literature type stuff (I'm working on David Copperfield right now). But if I had to name an influence, it would be a show... and that show would be The Simpsons. I don't even know who writes for them, though, cause I'm an idiot.

But everything I do - reading, listening to music, watching a movie from time to time, working, going to school, eating, bathing - is all just a diversion... something to help me get over writer's block. As soon as an idea hits me, I'm right back here in front of my computer (or squinting at my PDA. heh).

I have a couple shorts on here that took me like a day to write, but I'm currently taking my time and working on a full length screenplay that is going to literally blow you away. It'll be like... BOOM! And you'll be gone. Ok, maybe not. But look for it soon, anyway.

I have written quite number of poems and presently writing a movie script, finished more than half now. I will host it once it is complete and hope you will like it. Out the few movies i have seen I liked Shawshank Redemption, As God as it Gets.
Somehow I didn't like Pulp Fiction that much except for its dialogue & style of presenting, Well that is debatable but that is what I felt about it.

Okay, where do we begin?  First off, my real name is Jonathan E. I began writing at an early age.  When I was 7 years old I wrote my first story about a space traveler and his funny adventures.  It was called "TAURU: SPACE WARRIOR".  I used this character in many ways to expand my imagination and write about things that I thought were wrong.  Unfortunately, I no longer have those wonderful little stories in my possession because they were lost on my numerous moves as a child.  Perhaps, I will attempt to rewrite these stories for children in the future.  Nonetheless, I wrote for my school newspaper as a reporter, perhaps this is why I like for some of my main characters to be Investigative Reporters?  I have taken some college, mostly while I was in the Army.  However, I am self-educated.  I do an enormous amount of research in the field of writing.  I read about anything, even cereal boxes.  So, one day back in 1999 I was wondering what I would do with my future.  I am very advanced in martial arts, however many people just don't care to learn these conceptually amazing systems that I have learned.  So, I believe my future is elsewhere (or at least involves something else).  I decided that writing was the other true interest.  So, I logged into Writing.com and the rest is history?

...and the writer thought, "Wow!  This stuff is a lotta work."

I have to this day written several works.  However, I am constantly polishing them in hopes that I will one day get them to a high enough quality to present to publishers and/or movie companies.  So, please enjoy my writings and if not please tell me why.

Overall, I write for my reader's happiness.  This in turn makes me a happy person.  I believe in constant improvement and commit to become the best writer I can be with the time that I have using the money and resources that I have available. 



And the writer found some readers.  The rest is history.

I'm new here, my name is Cindy as you can see, and it looks like I am like the OLDEST person here. Ladies shouldn't tell their age WHEN THEY ARE OLD, but what the hay... I'm 46, I've got three beautiful daughters and three wonderful grandchildren who are beautiful, too.
I live in the metro Detroit area with my boyfriend of 4 years and daughter. He (my boyfriend) plays guitar and writes his own music.
I am a published poet, and I have a song that Paramount in Nashville are supposed to be managing, no word yet. It's title is "Wounded Angel".

As for movies, I like horror, thrillers, and comedies. Anything, except a tear jerker. You'll never see me cry...

Wow how long have I been here and I didn't know anything about any of you!  Good going, Luke, is it?  So weird to say, so I'm going to stick with Eskay.  As it stands now, I'm sitting here waiting to get back on the Final Cut Pro machine here at school so I shall write my little bio.

My name is Lesley, I'm 24, female and I go to the Art Institute of L.A. I major in video production.  I want to become a screenwriter and I've been actively writing on and off since I was maybe ten or eleven years old, maybe longer than that, I can't remember.  I live near Los Angeles.  I want to get out of here as soon as possible.  Don't let people fool you:  you can live outside of California and still make a living in Hollywood.  It's not all it's cracked up to be.  I love hanging out here because I've met a lot of great people and I enjoy interacting with people as excited as I am about movies.

Music?  I like a lot of electronic.  Current obsession:  "Lost in Translation" soundtrack.  I like Coldplay and Radiohead, a lot of smaller bands that don't get as much publicity.  I'm tired of regular radio because it's all sounding the same.  So I listen to NPR.  I didn't like him previously, but John Mayer has kind of grown on me.

I'm starting to believe we didn't really go to the moon.  I've got this weird obsession with clean ears.  I'm sure there's other quirky stuff to know about me, but I can't think of it right now.  So there you go.

Well here goes my stint on this little chat.

My name's Tommy and i live in the middle of sunny England.  i'm 27 years old and i'm skiving off work as i type this.

Trying to just be a good/better writer which i've been trying to do for the last 2 years now.  I love any type of movie especially a good horror or action flick but get bored from time of all the brain deadness that goes with those genres.  Favorite movie makers are Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Wes Craven, Old John Carpenter people like that.  Favorite movie is Quadrophenia.  Gonna go out to see Kill Bill tonight - can't wait, really exicited 80)

Music tastes are fairly rock based, favorite bands at the minute are The Darkness (they rock better than anybody) and Jet.  All time favorites are Oasis, Radiohead, Coldplay, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans.  But i've had my stint of dance based nights out, you know the sort of things loads of people in small room listening to repetitive beats and then back some bodies house for more of the same till the sun comes up.

Gotta admit i think buying a pad of paper and a pen was one of the best moves i've ever made as i love to write (except when i'm having a bad day), looking back now i wish i'd have started it long time ago but he ho at least i've here!

Lovecraft, Chuck Pahliniuk, the occasional John Grisham, old British texts on King Arthur, mythology, religious texts from all over the world and my obsessive love of comic books (Hellblazer, Batman, Daredevil, Sin City, Preacher, Spider-Man, WATCHMEN, V for Vendetta, The Crow, etc).  I worked as an underground comics writer in the mid 90's on a title called DARQUE OF NIGHT, as well as writing role-playing and wargame manuals freelance.  I've just completed work on my first full-length novel entitled OASIS, TX.  I'm editing it now with the hopes of publication within the next couple of years. 

I've completed two original screenplays (GREEN RIVER and THE MERCY HOUSE SPLIT) and two comic adaptations (JOHN CONSTANTINE: HELLBLAZER and HELLBLAZER II: ROYAL BLOOD).  With the exception of MERCY HOUSE (which I'm editing), the others can be found here for your perusal.

Hi, my name is Brooks and I live in Houston, Tx.  I'm 32 years old and am just starting out with trying to write screenplays.  I was a physician for a few years before deciding to give that up to pursue other interests.  My musical taste runs the gamut, from Sinatra to Snoop Dog.  I also have to mention the Flaming Lips - great band.  My favorite directors include Kubrick, Scorsese, the Coen brothers, and Hitchcock. 
I'm glad I found this site, though I do feel a bit old.  I like everyone's enthusiasm for writing.  I'll try to read as many scripts as I can and provide constructive feedback.

I was born in Nottingham England in 1976. And in the early 80's I moved to California. In '88 I moved back to The British Isles, this time living in N.Ireland for 4 years. In 1991...we moved back to California and have lived there ever since.

At the age of Ten I found that I was a very creative writer and I have been writing ever since. I've written plays for various groups and activties, written Poems for weddings and funerals- and written full length scripts.

My first full length script to be completed was Memorial Day a sequal to Independence Day- it was a co-writing project..and came out alright. During the writing of MD I was doing research and review for all sorts of aspects of my Terminator 3 script.

T3:FR took a total of 8 years to script and guide through it's 5 drafts. The main reason for this is I took the process very seriously. I felt as if I had to answer to cameron and deliver something worthy as a follow up. Judging from the responses I get even now three years after release...it seems I did my job.

Since I completed T3 I turned to other projects.

Strange December- Post Nuclear Survival/Thriller
Secluded Fear- Horror/Thriller Set on Alcatraz Island
Reverse Psychology- Action/Thriller

All of the above projects are in varying degrees of Pre-production and research.

My current projects in Active/Fast-tracked development are-

Terminator: The Machine Wars (Continued off Terminator: Years of Darkness)

Once again I'm taking a great deal of care in writing these projects sice I care deeply about maintaining a high level of conviction and solidarity in the franchise.

From a musical standpoint I mostly listen to Motion Picture Scores..as it stands my 3 disc changer is filled with Terminator music at the moment- Terminator: Definitive Edition Score, Terminator 3 Score and Terminator 3: Unreleased Score.

If anyone wishes to read my T3 script and post their reviews I'd appreciate it. We might start a page for review at the official website for my script.

I'm a professional genealogist (which helps to pay the bills) and yeah -- I'm a screenwriter. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas by way of the Land of Oz. I'm married to a guitar slinger and  love the blues. I have 3 grown children which now I think it's kind of neat that I started so young because I have a great buddy/mom relationship with them and am amazed that I had a hand in the fantastic adults they have become.

As a writer I have heard over and over -- WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW.
I'm assuming that fate meant for me to be a writer considering the wealth of experiences life has handed me. I buried both my parents by the age of seven. I have lived in orphanges and foster homes. I had my 3 children by age 22 and was widowed by the time I turned 24.. I have experienced and survived more death than you can imagine. I've lived through the pain of suicide, murder and abuse at the hand of a pervert. At one point in my life I believed abandonment must be my middle name. So writing what I know tends to be character driven scripts ususally film noirs because I have been the star of one all my life.

Some of my favorite films are Slingblade, The Man Who Wasn't There, Reservoir Dogs, Goodfellows, Pulp Fiction, The Usual Suspects, The 3 faces of Eve, The Longriders, Rear Window, Blue Skies, Frieda and Memento.
My favorite writers/directers are BBT (if you are a fan you know whom I speak of) The Coen Bros, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and of course Hitchcock. And i do have to give a heads up to Tom Hanks cause everything that dude touches turns to gold.

And now -- finally -- with the help of Mr. F.Scott Kessler I am about to -- finally -- see one of my scripts come to life. Which is going to be very interesting for me considering some of MATFIELD GREEN is based on my parents life and some of the plot twists were actual "incidents".

My name is Harry Deckard. And I live in, as Tommy said Sunny England. I have many interests, I screenwrite (a lot), watch lots of movies, take lots
of bike rides and I like to refer to myself as a very amateur Ghosthunter.
My favourite directors are Sergio Leone and Quentin Tarantino. My favourite

Wow.  Now I want to see MATFEILD GREEN.  I hope you keep writing, because you're a very interesting person.  A lot of my writing stems from my experiences as well, so I support your statement of WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW completely!  Every scene in the first two episodes of THE CREATOR contains masked-references to actual people in my life.  In my comedy BANANA CHAN, the character named Buster is A LOT like I was at his age -- lovesick poet who's sucessfully dealing with issues of suicidal tendancies.  Even the character named BANANA CHAN is based on several real people.  Banana's personality is based on a girl I ...love.  Her situation is based on a girl I hate.  Or at least, that's how she started; she has since developed into her own unique individual.  But we should talk about you, because you won.  Congrats!

I just finished read a chapter from "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" to my sons.  My boys are eight and three.  The chapter I read ended with this:

The Lion thought it might be as well to frighten the Wizard, so he gave a large, loud roar, which was so fierce and dreadful that Toto jumped away from him in alarm and tipped over the screen that stood in a corner. As it fell with a crash they looked that way, and the next moment all of them were filled with wonder. For they saw, standing in just the spot the screen had hidden, a little old man, with a bald head and a wrinkled face, who seemed to be as much surprised as they were. The Tin Woodman, raising his axe, rushed toward the little man and cried out, "Who are you?"

"I am Oz, the Great and Terrible," said the little man, in a trembling voice. "But don't strike me--please don't--and I'll do anything you want me to."

So, after reading that I thought it was time for Toto to kick over the screen...  I hope you aren't too disappointed.

And, quite frankly, I don't know how my dorky little website got so out of control.  I didn't set out to create a screenwriting website.  I just like reading.  I like reading scripts.  Like plays, novels and short stories, a screenplay is a fantastic form of literature.  A good screenplay grabs you by the ears and pulls you into a story and doesn't let you go until you get to "The End" and you look up and think, "wow.".

Seriously though, I don't see myself as "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".  I'm neither little, bald nor wrinkled, yet.  However, I am sure that a lot of you have a vision in your mind of who I am and what I am like.  I hope that by revealing to you all who am I and what I am like, I don't disappoint you.

SimplyScripts.com started out six years ago as a personal bookmark of neat scripts on the 'net.  It grew.  Later I got requests from people who wanted their scripts posted on the net for others to read.  I posted a few, though only those I thought were good.

So, that is why all the stories get an equal footing on the site, much to the consternation of some who ask me to separate out the wheat from the chaff.  When it comes to an idea, what is wheat and what is chaff, is hard to tell.  A great idea can come in bizarre forms.  A stupid idea can be served up beautifully.  (This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate a great idea served up in 'generally accepted screenplay format'). 

The site is meant to give everyone a chance.  The unproduced section of this site gives everyone a chance to work through the bad spelling or strange formatting to focus on the story that they want to tell.  When I got an email from someone asking me to take down their script, I was elated.  Someone saw it and wanted to produce it.  Six months later it happened again.  Now it happens every month or so.  None of the scripts 'discovered' on the site, to my knowledge have been "six figure block busters", but that isn't the point.  If you are here with "how much can I make" on your mind.  You are in the wrong place.  If you are here with, "I have this crazy idea," Then, no matter who you are, you are in the right place.  At one point, someone wrote a story from their heart and laid it out for others to read, warts and all.  And someone read it.  And it became a movie.

Your "dorky" site is a wonderful tool to bring writers together to learn and to share.
I am amazed at the number of younger writers this site has garnered interest with and am happy they have a place to hang and get help learning the craft of writing.

I have a number of writer websites that I participate at and let me tell you that simplyscripts is fast becoming my favorite home away from home. Not only do you offer a place for eager first time writers to post what they feel is the next big break out film but also a place for us more seasoned writers to help steer them towards a better end product through helpful critisim and gentle suggestions on how they can better their final script.

This site is like finding an old trunk in your grandmothers attic, stuffed full of trinkets and treasures -- and a few old antiques such as my self.  and my thanks go out to you for taking the time from your own busy life that it takes to keep a site as large as this one up and running.

When first I read "Don" at the bottom of an e-mail from you, I pictured a mafioso-esque figure, a mob-boss, someone with a calculating trigger-finger on their dirty hands.  Though you are "The Godfather" of the site, you're more of a family man than a destroyer of lives -- in fact, I doubt you'd ever destroy a life on purpose.  Though I know where I'm going with this analogy, I will stop it right here before it reaches its destination at I don't know where, even though I said I did...heh.  Don Boose, huh?  Family man, huh?  That's far different from what I pictured in my head -- at one point I thought you were an asian immigrant.  At one point, I thought you were a fifteen year old with a passion for reading scripts...umm...and you might have been.  Anyway, are any of your scripts on the site?  I want to read stuff by Don Boose.

I knew when I posted my bio (well, actually just the beginning of the bio) that I would disappoint a lot of people.  I must say that most folks, based on the quality of update on the site, thought I was 12 or so...  As for the Asian immigrant thing, my wife is Chinese, we speak Chinese at home and celebrate both Eastern and Western holidays (actually, yesterday was October 15th on the luner calendar and marks the beginning of Winter). 

As for my writings on the site, I purposely have kept it a secret.  If I had my name on the script, I am afraid that it would get undue and unwarranted attention at the expense of the other scripts on the site.

Don, you are awesome, awesome, awesome, man!!!!  I've been coming to your site for about as long as I can remember and I was thrilled and jumped on this discussion board as soon as it opened.  (I think there were only five people when I joined?)  Drew (Script-O-Rama) died, so I began looking for new places to find scripts to read.  I am so thrilled you host this site because from the several emails we've exchanged now and again I can tell you are thoughtful and kind, and precise. 

That is so cool.  May this site always exist in some form or another because you have led me to some very very wonderful people who know who they are (and one I absolutely adore with all my heart;  he knows who he is) and I can't thank you enough for that.

I have a rock guitar and 2 acoustics, but I ain't no marvel.

I bought my youngest daughter a real pretty blue guitar for her 18th birthday tomorrow. She can play it and I will sing, that is if she doesn't do anything stupid like run off with that creppy boy she's been seeing.

Hello all!  I just joined this forum.  I am 42 years old.  I am female and married with 3 daughters,8 cats, 3 angora goats and a shetland sheep named Gunnar who is our family dog. I have a macaw named Elvis and 5 fish and 30 rabbits(all pets and all named).  I also have 9 banty type chickens and 6 roosters as pets.  The chickens lay the cutest little eggs and our house is VERY noisy early in the morning and sometimes the roosters crow most of the night!  They are pets and hard to get rid of because they are sweet but they sure are noisy!  Our house is constant noise with a 3 year old and a 5 year old and a 14 year old, all girl. Me, the kids, the fish and my husband and the macaw inside and the chickens, roosters, goats, sheep and cats, outside. Thank GOD, bunnies are quiet.  Needless to say, we don't live near other human beings.  I'm a kid from the suburbs, experimenting.  It has been a bit of a failure.  We moved from California to rural Oregon, 5 years ago.  Not liking it!  No way out now, we are bound to the land by the animal commitment.  I need to be comitted.  My spelling and math skills are rapidly declining.  I have taken to writing!  I need to write myself out of this mess.  They say, "get a life".  Watch out!  I have one, there is no doubt.  If one has a life, one has diversity and adversity also.  Hoping to overcome this, this year.  We are planning to move to Park City, Utah.  There is more of cultural activity and less of avoiding bears and mountain lions and bob cats.  Once upon a time, I was very different.  I like the me that I am now, better.  I like being so weird and "out there" in the most ultimately, uncool way and finding out who really likes you and who really doesn't.  It has made me a more personally powerful person I find and is good for the imagination and creativity.  We are absolutely and completely poor, financially but we are emotionally and intelectually rich and our life is textured with interesting details.  I don't want it to stay this way.  I want to be able to travel and have adventure for myself and my husband and kids, I want to change the details, keep them interesting but less work, atleast a different and less noisy kind of work.  I have had a very varied life.  I change, as my life changes.  I cannot truly describe myself and I am grateful for this.  I can say that I believe in practicing love, kindness and compassion.  I know how to be tough also.  I have been tempered by life and am grateful for all of the "good" and "bad".  I like U2 the best for music and this is consistent for me.  I like Johnny Depp best as actor and this is also consistent.  I have always liked Tim Burton, I also like Quentin Tarantino, as director and as far as women actresses go, I currently like Jennifer Anniston best, as she is most likeable.  For acting skill, I like Nicole Kidman best.  I like movies that are very offbeat.  I liked "Girl on a Bridge". very much and love, love, love the French actor(his name is escaping me now) who is the star of it.  I am very good at watching movies.  I am currently in preproduction for learning how to write them.  Catia

Daniel Autieul, that is the name of the actor in The Girl on the Bridge, a TRULY great actor in any language.  I didn't see Amelie yet.  Queen Margot is a good movie for great looking french actors that are great actors also.    I LOVE Vincent Perez(not French), he's in it also.  Nice to meet you and I SURE did go on, on my first post!  Comes from living in the "boonies" with only animals and children to talk to!

Bill Paxton's finest hour was as Hudson in Aliens, when I saw it as a kid the next day at school, I was going on about badasses all day.

I went from 27 degrees in Virginia to 72 degrees in Carlsbad, CA.  So, it is grey and overcast and will rain tomorrow.  Hey, at least it is above freezing.  I've lovin' life.  I drove from San Diego to Carlsbad up the Coast Highway with the windows down in stop and go traffic (I caused most of the stop and go 'cuz I was looking at the ocean).

Hi All,
My name is Stewart and I am currently living in Canada. I'm 27, and I've been writing on and off over the last couple of years...mainly as a hobby. I love watching movies, and playing on the PC. I have currently completed 2 shorts (which I've sent to SimplyScripts to be put online...still waiting )...I have one script on the go, and another full length script waiting to be re-written.

I hope to one day manage to write something deemed worthy enough to be produced...but don't we all.
