Hi everyone. I'm certainly not the best writer, but who in the film world is? Whether be a screenplay or based on a book or novella, just who do you think it is out of the choice above. Seems an odd thing for a pole, but it just entered my head so I did it.   Bit of fun at the end of the day. Stephen King?  I can't remember the last movie of his that I liked.

Stephen King should never be allowed to adapt his own work. His screenplays that are not adapted are pretty good, but his adaptations of his own stories don't often fly too well.

Wes Craven is a better director than writer. The Hills Have Eyes and Nightmare on Elm Street are his only screenplays that have enjoyed much of any success.

Quentin Tarantino is another director and his screenplays are written for himself, not necessarily for anyone else. He's pretty good, but his audience is really limited.

I really wasn't thrilled with the list, but went ahead and voted for Mel Brooks. Long career. Most of his stuff runs pretty good. It can be laughed at and enjoyed by most people.

No Whedon? I'm so lost and confused now.

I guess looking at it the next day, as in right now, I really should of gone with who's the best Director shouldn't I ? Ahh well, might do that for next time  But yes I agree about Tarantino. As for King, I went mostly for how we see them as film watchers I guess. Cos the guy was behind The Shining and The Green Mile and Shawshank. But he's also responsible for some rather bad TV adaptations like, The stand, and the Langolears. But  IT  I liked  Still, should of gone for best directors really. Number one probably would of been Peckinpah.  Not heard of Whedon though, JJEstes, sorry.  

I enjoyed watching 'The Secret Window' until the truth was revealled.  If Stephen King was in the room, I would've kicked him in the groin for such an idiotic ending.

I would've kicked him in the groin repeatedly.

I'd still be doing it now, as I type this.

The ending was that bad.

But screenplays?  How could you leave Paul Schrader off this list?

Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction were well written, as was True Romance, but Kill Bill? It was just a kung-fu-fest paying "homage" to dozens of other movies. Name one memorable line of dialogue from Kill Bill I and II that wasn't lifted directly from another film.

Tarantino is great for what he writes, but I wouldn't trust him to write something that depend depend on violence.

That is quite an accomplishment in my book. I am very loyal to him. Reservoir Dogs blew my mind along with Pulp Fiction. The only let down was Hero. It was so freaking cheesy.

Anyway joe does not know what he is talking about. He shouldn't of made a poll in he doesn't know any good directors...

Hitchcock was famous for his two second cameo appearances.  Sometimes you saw him; sometimes you didn't.  His most famous one was for the movie 'Lifeboat.'  The whole movie took place on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean.

FYI, Joss Whedon is the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and a short-lived venture called Firefly. A board called Monster Zero specializes in Whedon spin-offs, adaptations, and however else you can say fan fiction without getting the site admin grumpy at you for calling his work like a 12 year old's prose...

M. Night Shyamalan is pretty good.

James Cameron rocks. Terminator, Aliens, Titanic, among other things. He kicks the butt of most everyone onyour list.
