Don't really know how to start this. Essentially I'm a virgin when it comes to being a forum dude. Never joined one before, and in that respect, I guess I'll be popping my cherry with this. However, I've been lurking about in the shadows for quite some time now. Figured it was time for me to step out of the shadows and into the sunlight, to play along with the rest of you angels and saints. So, here I am...

Not from Memphis, in case you're wondering, but I do dig Elvis... I mean, he is the king after all. Wasn't a fan of the movie 'Gone in 60 seconds', but thought the name Memphis Raines was pretty cool. I've been writing on and off for about, well, for what feels like a lifetime of stories made up only to live in my mind, or having written down something or another, only to stop half way and never finish. Having found this place awhile back and reading some scripts, some very good while others mediocre, then coming into this forum and reading about what others had to say, well... this was the inspiration I was seeking. So, here I am... and I'm glad I found this place...

Big horror fan! Love, love, love horror movies! Yes, especially zombie movies... though I don't consider '28 Days Later' to be a zombie movie. If you want to compare that movie to a George Romero flick, then I say compare it to 'The Crazies'. Hopefully I'll soon have a story to contribute to this site. Would love to hear what you good people have to say about whatever I may write about... uh... you guys don't do public executions for bad stories do you? It would suck to be burned alive at the stake. And, y'know... I kind of got used to being alive and stuff... Anyways, good or bad, I would love to hear your guys' opinions and suggestions that would help shape me into a better writer.

As Humphrey Bogart says at the end of 'Casablanca': I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

Being a man who believes in first impressions, please forgive me if my introduction ran alittle too long.

And one last thing...

Hi!

It's time to prove to your friends that you're worth a damn. Sometimes that means dying, sometimes it means killing a whole lot of people...

Hey there, Memphis Raines!

That was a great introduction! Well, you are not alone with your love of horror. This forum has many horror fans on it so you will be in your element here. I myself like a little but not a lot... I agree, 28 days later wasn't a zomblie flick. I also think that the DOTD zombies were lame, as they were too fast. They were better in the original version.

I am a goonies freak and am about to embark on my own goonies adventure by heading out to the states for 3 months in september. So, I hope to get to know you a bit before I leave. I am also from London btw.

I hope you have a great time mingling on the board.

Theoriginalgoonie - HEY YOU GUUUUYS!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist

So, you're gonna embark on your own goonies adventure, huh? Cool... uh... can I tag along as well?!   We can travel around the states looking for treasure, and by treasure I mean breaking into peoples houses and stealing socks. Our calling card will be 'Goonie Freaks' spray painted on living room walls.   As our popularity grows by the media crazed hype we'll receive, we'll then be hunted down by Dog the Bounty Hunter and his crazy cohorts. Being tracked down and cornered in a single house by a mob of police, a SWAT team and village hicks carrying torches and pitchforks surrounding us, we'll place the last socks we ever stole onto our hands and kick open the front door, screaming as we run into the crowd, "GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!!!" As we are torn to shreds in a hail of bullets, the guy who plays Chunk, one of the original goonies, will be watching on his television, slowly shaking his head at our demise...then, he'll slowly raise whatever beverage he happens to be drinking and say, "You got the juice now, man." Then he'll slide on some shades, cover his head with a hoodie, then switch the channel to watch 'Jeremiah', the episodes with Sean Astin...

How's that for an adventure?!   In the end it won't be about the treasure, aka socks, but about gettin' some of that original goonie lovin' by Chunk   Worth more than gold, man! Worth more than all the socks in the world!

Uh...by the way...

Pleasure to meet ya, Andy

LMAO!! That was an awesome adventure, I do hope to share that one with you... You name the cave and time and I'll be there! I'll even bring my eye patch and hat like my photo

Here is a photo I thought I'd show you, where I'm with Chunk - Jeff Cohen and Mr Perkins - Curt Hanson - this was taken at the 'Never Say Die 2005' 20th anniversary event in June!

I organised it and with the help of the Astoria chamber of commerce, we got 3 cast members to attend. In addition to the two I just mentioned, we also got Sean Astin too. My website is http://www.gooniesevent.com which is a little dated now as the event is over, but you might like to check it out as you're a fan

If ever you feel like reading a goonies sequel, mine is located in the adventure section, appropriately named ' Goonies Never Say Die'! Please let me know what works you have up on the site too btw.

I can't wait for this sunday to roll around because a few friends and I are having lunch with Curt Hanson!! It will be an amazing experience!

PS - Bounty Dog Hunter is one crazy assed show! Wow! I don't think we have anything like that here in the UK!!

PPS - Do you prefer to be called Memphis Raines or by your real name?

PPSS- What else do you do then apart from tell excellent goonies stories? I finished uni 5 years ago and am in limbo land so far as my career goes, lol. I work in a law firm right now but am leaving in 6 weeks, YAY!

Hi.  I'm Alan.  Just as Andy is fanatical about THE GOONIES, I'm fanatical about my own creation, a series called BANANA CHAN.  Just as GOONIES is every second word out of Andy,  BANANA CHAN is every second and third word out of me.  If you think such fanaticism is a negative thing, I hate you.  If you think such devotion and fanaticism is a good thing, welcome!

LMAO! Alan, very true, though I will try to refrain from using the forbidden 'G' word now as I don't want to annoy anyone!

Welcome, Memphis.

I am not plugging anything right now.

Perhaps I should find something...

Welcome, Memphis. My pet project is the Fempiror Chronicles, which is basically a fantasy-type twist on the vampire myth. There, I've plugged. We'd be happy to read whatever you come up with and as far as I know, the last public execution was deserved, but Kevin Revie lived through it.

No sock puppets and no running around the pool. Welcome aboard.

Soccubus is the only sockpuppet allowed on these boards.  Don't cheese the little guy off and make sure your hand is warm--

What's that?  You want me to explain what I just wrote with a shameful plug?  Read Tocsin!!

Kevin Revie's serial THE A-LIST is a good first effort from someone of his age, so I don't think that the public execution was deserved ... but I profitted from popcorn sales, so it's all good.

It was deserved.  It wasn't the first time that he used sockpuppets (the earlier ones, I'm told, were deleted by Don), but he kept making up new ones.  He then ignored the more subtle warnings so it became a game of Dog Pile On The Rabbit.'
