I've been a film crew grip in the industry since 1978.  I generally work as a (camera) dolly grip.

I'm working with a production company on a couple of projects. Wouldn't call it steady job because I'm not a staff writer, but it's a start.

I moved to LA to get some work in the film industry, and so far I've found a small position with Universal Video, but it's a start.  I still do a ton of writing with any free time that I have.

i was a literary assistant with a production company for a significant part of this year.  was just over at universal for a little bit, a temp thing.  i worked production assistance at this year's american film market and i'm about to embark on a new project with a smaller company it looks like... not quite sure how i feel about it, though.  so... slow steps, but still something to decorate the resume with.

true love waits... i guess.

I'm going to SAIT. That's as close as I come, unfortunately. It's not film, but rather TV I'm involved in. I've done some unpaying stuff for a few TV studios in town, and I'm in the process of getting into voice acting, but nothing steady yet.

Soon, blast it! Soon!

I'm currently working for a Film and Video company in Liverpool, England.

http://www.mersey-film-video.co.uk/

Learning Final Cut Pro v5, editing and DVD Studio - authoring DVD showreels for directors and actors..

Going on a shoot Wednesday evening but for a local community video..

Have also in the past 3 weeks burned over 1500 DVDs for a couple of community video projects sponsored by the European Community as Liverpool is European City of Culture in 2008 so money has been pumped into the arts and community projects.. These projects also include theatre, film, video, dance and experimental video..

The company I'm with at the moment get some of the work.. They also hire out DV and HD cameras, lighting, dollies, booms, mics, Blondes and Red Head lights and gells and stands..

They have two Final Cut Pro edit suits and one AVID  but they don't use the AVID anymore..

Also produce artwork for sleeve and discs for the DVD showreels..

I'm only there for 6 months contract which ends in July..

Interesting work and you get to meet interesting people.. Met one actor called Scot Williams who's done quiet a lot of British TV work and done some movies. He's just poppped over to New York to meet his new agent and has organized some casting sessions as this is casting season in the US, apparently.. Seen Scot in one movie Tempesta also starring Rutger Hauer and Malcolm McDowell..

I gave Scot a copy of my short script A MAN WITH A PROBLEM, hehe..

I've got a copy of his showreel on DVD..

You can read about Scot on IMDB
