I know this is going to get deleted and that I will probably be expelled as a member but I’ve got say my piece to be at peace and the truth should be (though it probably won’t be) told.

I think it’s completely bogus that a board gets locked and a certain member who gets treated like a little darling gets to leave his little Jerry Springer final thought to condescend to others. Said little darling was about to get his little ass nailed but got rescued by a lock and furthermore got to leave his little condescending message.

Said little darling is given every unfair advantage whenever it finally looks like he’s about to get his due just because he throws out bogus sob stories about how he can’t work for whole weeks at a time while his family starves. Said darling is 24 years old and far too old to whine about “I can’t go outside and work because I was picked on when I was a kid.” Said little darling needs to get over it and quit letting his family suffer because he, as usual, is completely selfish.

In fact, said little darling is full of nothing but excuses. If he slams Cindy L. Keller, for example, for offering her comments, which said little darling asked for, he gets away with it. His offending comments just get deleted. Then he makes an “apology” which is no apology at all but in fact just him blaming Cindy (who is perhaps the nicest person on the board, by the way). But said little darling just says it’s her fault because she misunderstood.

If his pathetic “you misunderstood” excuse doesn’t work, he just makes up some sob story about being picked on so he can’t leave the house, even to save his starving family. So said little darling has no merit in suggesting I have no examples.

Said little darling even has the audacity to defend his selfishness by suggesting it somehow serves a greater good. And he doesn’t think that’s arrogant? What a cushioned little darling.

This may be the last time I see some of you because I may be banned after this post. In that case, this post will be deleted. I can only hope that some of the other members will see this post before it’s deleted so that it will be known that I can certainly answer the ridiculous responses of said little darling to my comments. And ridiculous they were. I could have easily countered them if I had been given half of one of the numerous chances that said little darling is regularly afforded. And I could have defended my comments without the benefit of having the board locked to protect me from rebuttal.

Was I suckered?

I felt sorry for him.

I'm a softy even though I look mean.

Here’s the thing. I felt sorry for him too. But, the way he acts, at first I thought he was a kid. Then I found out he’s a 24 year old man.

I mean, he says his family is about to starve and lose their home. Yet, instead of being out working, he’s on this board bragging about how wonderful he is because he thinks that’s going to make him rich. That’s his plan to help out his family? I’ll do my own thing and hope I get rich? I just don’t buy it. If your family is starving, you do what you have to do.

He’s 24 years old and says he can’t go out for whole weeks at a time because of something that happened when he was a kid. Not, “I was raped.” Not, “I was molested.” “I got beat up.” How many kids have been beaten up at school? They don’t all grow up to be 24 and whine, “oh I’ve got to let my family starve and lose their home because I can’t go out for a week because I got beat up in grade school.” That’s preposterous. Surely I can’t be the only one who thinks that.

Maybe I’m just from an area where people are tougher, I don’t know. But I see a progression with this guy. He brags, which ultimately means you have to be putting someone else down, then when he goes too far, his excuse is that his words were misunderstood. Then comes the sob story. Every time.

Do you really think I’m too hard on the guy? If so, I’ll reconsider.

I believe, "what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger" or however it is that saying goes. Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and so on.

I don't know him and I'm just a softie for people in pain even though I never let myself feel any.

We are all prisoners of our own past!

I know. Maybe you and I are just older. I have my own ghosts and I’m sure you have yours. I’ve been on my own for many years now. I’ve been on my own since before I was out of high school. There are plenty of times I feel like I can’t leave the house but I always did when it was time to go to work. There was no one else for me to count on. So it’s hard to sympathize with a 24 year old man, you know.

I hear you.

I moved out when I was 16.

I have dug myself out of emotional, physical, mental and financial holes.
I think that's good in a way, no one can tell me I can't do something.
If anyone does, it just makes me say "Oh, yeah, watch this"

No, but you are missing the forest for the trees.

The deranged thread you are referring to was simply another episode of "The Little Darling Show" -- a Machiavellian attention grab -- that for some reason never fails to attract an audience .

I'm very upset that two threads were locked in the last few days...actually, I'm very upset that I didn't get to contribute in last night's clusterf---.

When I was about twenty-two, and started my pursuit in professional writing, my father gave me a one year food ticket.  He told me I would feed, clothe and put a roof over my head.  After that year, I had to get a job.  A year later, I was mopping floors in a hospital.  I was still writing and (ocassionally) selling stuff.  I'm selling more regularly now than I did then, but I still need a 'real' job to afford the finer things in life...like food and rent.

Alan, whether or not everything you said was true, it's time to grow up.  If you worked a part time job at a Burger King and given half that money into the house fund, you wouldn't be in the situation that you're in.  And you would still have time to write.

As I've said in the past, I don't read genres that I don't like.  Anime is one of them.  I have not read any of your scripts except for the first one week challenge and I wasn't impressed with it.  The same goes with the illustrated pages of Banana Chan.  I looked at them and said, 'And...?'

By writing only Banana Chan, you're putting all your eggs in one basket.  By not helping your family out and, instead, concentrating all your efforts on a long shot, you've put that basket on top of a wobbly table.  And by bragging your the best series writer here, that wobbly table is in the middle of a alligator pit.

And we're the gators!

Years ago, I knew a guy who sold two stories to Marvel Comics--the first two he submitted.  He packed all his things up and moved to New York City.  Problem was, there was not much work after that.  His stories were bought because Marvel needed two additional stories at the time.  He lost his apartment, bummed money off his friends (and later lost them) and became a pariah in the industry.  But that didn't matter to him because he wanted to write comic books.  Where is he now?  Nobody knows... and nobody cares.  What am I saying here?

GET A FUCKING JOB!!!

You'd be surprised how much better your writing will become.  You won't have to worry about losing your home.  You might even find inspiration in the work place.

And stop bragging about how great you are.  It's really annoying.

I still feel the original comments made in said thread take the last year and a half of my life and turn it into garbage but the lava lamp is almost dead. that's all I'll say about that.

If any of my posts have been bizarre, it's because my son gave me a case of "soda" called Bawls. Comes in pretty little blue bottles and taste a little like Sprite. I didn't know these were caffeeine bombs! I've been up for 52 hours now and I'm still shaking and bouncing off the walls.
It's actually scary stuff.

I've been looking at these threads over the past few days, and at first I thought it was kinda cool (thanks for the props, Ben), but then things took a turn for the worst, and I was sitting here watching a lot of back and forth ridiculousness.  After reading the 6 families in danger of foreclosure story, I too thought that there was some kind of weird underlying problem.  Are you living in an abandoned church in commune fashion like "Alice's Restaurant"?  I mean 6 families, whould translate to roughly 12 people, and by that equation let's say a mortgage runs $1200 a month (That's american dollars).

So, that's 25 bucks a week.  You can get that selling blood.  Hell, I made three times that when I was 16.  I'm 26 now, and I make a relatively decent living as a Warehouse Operations Manager, as well as the benefit of a fair amount of free time to work on new projects.  It's not what I want to do, but like Phil, something's gotta pay the bills.

Now, I don't know what Alan's story is other than what's been posted, but the fact that all of this is going on, and he jumps on the internet as a "release", just doesn't seem like a valid reason to me.  If I was in danger of getting the boot from my apartment, the first thing I'd get rid of would be those unnecessary luxury items (The landline phone, the cable/internet package, whatever) and if I needed an escape from reality, I'd hop on down to the local second hand store and pick me up some of those 10/$1.00 paperbacks, then a stop at the grocery store for top ramen and mac and cheese.

Simply put, there's no logic to saying "I get on here, and put myself on a pedestal to avoid my problems."  As John Wayne once said, "That's ri-goddamn-diculous".

And since I'm starting to go off on an uncharacteristic rant, I'll stop and leave with this response to the post above.

You may not get cancer, but you'll at least have a severe case of Irritable "bawls" Syndrome.

And "bawls" means "Fuck You" in Polish.

Everything means "f" you in Polish!

And for the "Alan case" I agree with you and everyone else. Go out and get a real job! Writing spec scripts aint going to do anything for your family. And as for not being able to go out side...grow up. You're talking like a ten year old in a 24 year old body. Boo-Hoo...what? Do those bad guys who used to beat you up still wait outside your house to take your milk money?

"Fazad", my series, means "f" you in polish. "Bawls" means "f" you in Polish. So basically if I were to see someone Polish I'd just want to keep my mouth shut. Because if I said Hey! They'd get all offended because that means "f" you.

On the other side of the coin, in Polish, "Fuck You", means "Have a Nice Day".

Almost makes me wish I were Polish, until I hear all those jokes, then I wish I were blond.

Alright I've been taking a week long hatius from the boards and I come back to see a arguement going on. First of all with a thread titled "The best writers" referring to the best writers on this site, that's US, it's going to have some problems. It's not some vote where you have 3rd parties deciding, it's US deciding out of all our little group which is the best. People will be offended by not getting picked, arguements WILL START.

With that said I think the whole Alan thing is getting ridiculous. This is a forum I personally want don't to know about your finacial situation or you getting jumped when you were younger. I don't know how it has to do with having a huge ego or being the best series writer. It's not my place on how you should deal with your life, because I don't know you. I would say get a job, toughen up, other people here have troubles too, but like I said I don't know you.

Something tells me (i'm sorry if I'm imagining your crisis as a 'joke') that you're kidding around. I've seen some of your posts and you have a very sardonic and ironic sense of humor that doesn't transfer well into text. If you were joking you just got people angrier. I used to have that and a lot of relationships with friends and girlfriends have met a bitter end by the hands of AIM.

I can see how everybody else here is appalled by some of Alan's statements. Breanne I aplaud your courage for standing up against him, I really do. ANd your not the only (i'm sorry for picking you out, somebody else would've started this if not you) But come on you guys, we saw his final comment. I think 9 out of 10 people would think it's a ridiculous thing to say on a forum. But will it effect you. Will his bitterness effect your writing or your day. Let's all cool our guns down. If Alan does have such a huge ego he won't give in to what you say. If he's joking it's a crappy joke, but I'm not hurt. This is a writing forum. You have your opinions others have different ones. But this is going around in a circle you guys. Nothing will get resolved. I'm sorry to say. Alan's sitting at a computer so are you. You can always just ignore  a post and move on with your day.
Now if it was a critique of somebodys work I would say an angry thread is in order....

Peace out.
PS Alan if you are defending yourself I wouldn't. It's hard to explain yourself to strangers on forums. Regardless of the reason. You don't know others, so you may offend somebody else in the process.

Nope.  In English, "Polansky" means "Don't go to the Oscars".

The correct term for "Mother Fucker" is, well, "Mother Fucker".  Unless it's "Bad Mother Fucker", then the correct term is "Chuck Norris".

I have been very annoyed with Alan. Seeing as if he cannot keep his mouth shut about anything. I've been on this site for a year, but just got an account. I've seen everything he has done, and frankly it pisses me off.

A lot of people were grateful to him and reviewed his script banana chan. A lot of people helped him in a petition to try and get his show on T.V. Now he pulls this shit and just gives everyone a big "F U" to pretty much everyone.

I'm not sure if any of you care what I'm saying because of my age, but darn, this guy has such a big ego that it pretty much leaks from my monitor. Alan, if you are reading this I hope you and your family make it through this hard time.

But please, just stop blaming all your faults on things that happened in your childhood, when really that isn't the case. I think we should all look at what has been going on lately and realize that he might just be wanting attention. Or maybe he just wants people to check out his script since that is his life's work.

Breanne and Phil... You two are totally right. Little Darling... Wow... I loved that, and it is so true. How does he get away with these things anyway? It totally bugs me.

In Polish, "Buska" means, er, nevermind.

In Gaelic, it means "Get me another beer or I'll cut your heart out."

I know this for fact, being Irish and all.

I'm probably one of the only ones who sympathizes with Alan.  I'm not agreeing that what Alan said was the right thing and I'm not agreeing with what others are saying.  I've noticed this site has been a tad wee bit more hostile in the past couple of weeks.  In my own logic I can pinpoint where things started to go wrong, which is a completely different story, but this whole Alan thing has just thrown a match into a gas filled room.

Alan, I do sympathize with your situation and I hope things work out, but this isn't the place to talk about our personal problems and it's not the place to give colorful advice on what to do with those problems.  If you want to cuss Alan out, do so in  a PM, otherwise this kind of shit happens and the whole board gets involved, gets mad, then other fights start breaking out, and before you know it we're all enemies.

And for the record, you should drink Jones, not Bawls.

I didn't know what they were. I thought it was just soda. I know, I'm dense.
I'm now going on 60+ hours with no sleep, except for a half hour nap earlier today, when something happened and a whole thread diappeared. I have a sickening feeling I had something to with it. If that's true I apologize.

OK I'm ready to read some scripts now,
Mike, George, Greg tell me what you want me to read and I'll do it know while I'm still wired.

Yeah, you know that thing are getting out of hand when an entire thre page thread is dedicated to insulting one member.

My advice?  Settle down. You call Alan immature yet here you all are mocking him and calling him names.  Just let it go, find something better to do, let him have his fun, rise above it.

Yes Breanne, I do think you were being to harsh.  This thread, your original post, was not here to enlighten us, but to get revenge.  But whatever.  I'm going to bed.

Revenge for what though? He's never done anything to her.

I think you guys read that whole other thread out of context, everybody makes it like something bad happened.

Compared to how Curse went out, Balt, VKonstant and Elrond and even Casey this was like a bag of water... One prick and it's all over, for me anyway.

Not to get revenge, I don't think. I think someone should say something public that will embarrass Alan so that he'll stop. I don't know if this has done the trick or not, but PM's don't always have the shock value of a thread. Sometimes you've got to be heard, and when it comes to being to harsh, I think Alan deserves whatever Alan gets...

I start to visit the board regularly and then, everybody starts fighting.  Maybe I should go back to Simplyscripts hibernation.  Maybe that will stop all the arguing and stuff.  I bring bad karma wherever I go.

Not to be a fuddy-duddy, but just to point out Rule #3...

3. Do not be disrespectful of other members, do not put down other members of the board, do not attack or encourage others to attack a member of the board.

Alan is who he is, and no one is going to change that. After awhile, you get used to his antics, and you just ignore him when he acts up. No reason to get hostile or over the top about it. Does he shamelessly promote his masterpiece every chance he gets? Yes. Will he always do this? Yes. Will he ever write anything else? Who cares.

On my side, did Alan put anything on that thread that irked me? Sure. But as I had nothing nice to say in return, I left it alone. This thread, like the last one, is getting out of hand. I doubt anyone will be banned over the issue, but this "Little Darling" needs to end. We need to go back to writing which is why we're here.

Now go over to the WIP board, and tell me how to fill out the middle of my freakin' story!

Man...this is so true....of anybody.

Why, then, is it so very, very hard?

This seems like good advice.
