Just thought I would throw this out there:

Been working on a character who is blind and tiny, kind of like the mini me character in the Ausin Powers movies. He has a chiahaha as a seeing eye dog.Any ideas on their adventures? Or misadventures? I really haven't thought of a way to approach it. Comedy/Action, Drama? Just thought the character would be fun to play around with and build a story around.

Sounds like the premise of a comedy.  Coming up with a story would be difficult.

Make him a godfather figure in a Judge Dredd script.

Yeah, it's probably gonna be a comedy. What I had in my head was a cross between, "Far from Home" and "Hear No Evil See No Evil".

Maybe he gets mixed up in some kind of crime. Witnesses it so to speak. Then has to elude the criminals, and somehow saves the day with his trusted seeing eye chiahaha. I know it sounds goofy.

If I get enough replies I will start building an outline.

Definitely comedy.
Maybe the short guy is a private eye.
Maybe his dog is the smart one in the duo.
The dog will see things, like evidence, and have to communicate this to the blind dude.
and the blind guy is always misreading what the dog is comunicating.

It would be hilarious to see a chihuahua drag a short guy around. That would be a first.

And maybe the two of them get in over their heads (pun intended).  Like in Ace Ventura, maybe these two have a niche business.  Specialize in finding ... whatever.  Then they latch on to something that is way bigger than they are accustomed to.

That was a great idea, Abe from LA. Another pun: private EYE !

Maybe that could be the title "Private Eyes - Pun Intended" or "Over His Head - Pun Intended"

thanks for the reply. That was great, I'm laughing just thinking about where this could go!

I'm sure he never saw it coming. I think a private eye thing would be very difficult to pull off since he can't observe any of the evidence from the scene. Who would hire him? A niche business would be good, but the trick there is what would he do? This would almost require a sidekick who can see to assist him in his work.

Thanks George,

I think he could use his hieghtened senses to do the investigating; ie, taste, smell, hearing, touch. It would just as well be funny that he thinks he is the "greatest detective in the world". Real smug and arrogent.

What was the name of that blind detective show on one of the networks recently?I seem to remember some adverts about it.

Well, about the sidekick, another off the wall, absurd idea is that the side kick is the dog! It could talk, hell this is a movie, right? Or the Mini-me can just communicate telepathically, or think he can, with the dog.

It probably has endless possibilities.Any other ideas? Hey maybe just a spin off of Austin powers, with the actual mini-me.After a horrible accident working for the agency that causes him to go blind, he forms a detective agency! Just bouncing this stuff around.

Just one thought: I think the absurd is a good thing sometimes in screenwriting/movie making. It's fun to divert from reality ever once in a while. To use an example from this site,
Stoned Patriots by Zavier Alvarez. You know that talking bong thing! Crazy!

Mini-me didn't talk, but the actor who plays him can.
