Heya everyone, insideman_j is my sign in so look out for it. My name is James, though...
I've browsed the site before and read bits of scripts (ex. the Basement), but never commented on any because those that I choose had plenty of feedback.
Anywho, I'm planning to get my first script up asap, meanwhile I know how things work with the "scratch my back, scratch yours" on reading anothers script...smart.... so if someone can point me to a script of theirs preferably one that hasn't gotten too much feedback or the heads up on one you've got comin'....
I'll get th e title & log to my script once its crystal!
James, don't feel reluctant to leave feedback because plenty of other people have. Your opinion is important, too. And don't be reluctant because you're new (a lot of new members feel this way). You'd be surprised how much better you'll write and reading other people's work, and the feedback left for them.
Every opinion counts.Just look at how movies are pre-screened. Every viewpoint and every demographic matters in making a great film. I have benefitted greatly from all feedback that I have recieved. Whether it was from a new member or an old pro here so don't be afraid to let it be known!
Welcome, and I hope you will find it as creativly stimulating as I have!
A spoon does not know the taste of soup, nor a learned fool the taste of wisdom.
Another point to make on the scripts with lots of feedback is that those writers tend to rewrite over and over and over again, so you may be reading a revised version no one else had commented on yet. You mentioned the Basement. Last I looked, there was not a thorough review of the revised version. This one is obvious since Andrew posted when he posted the new version. Some aren't so obvious. I tend to update mine once I get a review on it to fix whatever is wrong and I might do this a couple times a week while writing it. I host my own though, and Don links to where I keep them. You never know what kind of new insight you might have.
Oh, and welcome to the boards. Be sure and let us know which script is yours when its up. There are a lot of scripts here, so it might get lost in the mix.
Read what interests you and always leave a comment, regardless of the number of reviews. Maybe you have a unique take on the story. Be specific when you can, and be respectful always.
Mason: "Are you sure you're ready for this?" Stan Goodspeed: "I'll do my best." Mason: "You're best. Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f*** the prom queen!" Stan Goodspeed: "Carla was the prom queen." Mason: "Really?" Stan Goodspeed: "Yeah!"
