Weeel, I cracked it at last, I got in but I must have driven the poor administrator spare with my communications. Really, what a wonderfully patient chap he is, phew. I am half new, I say that because I have changed my password but it took some doing. I won't bother with all the ins and outs, no one wants to know that. I am trying to write my first screenplay, probably a speckie - actually helping someone else really. Quite a challenge for it is a Sci Fi set in the aftermath of a major war and a rampant virus caused by a germ bomb. Won't spoil it all but there are some survivors who have galvanised into different tribes and trying to re-invent themselves, at least procreate. There are some nasty villains naturally
For those that want to know about me, I live in a rural part of Suffolk called Monks Eleigh, well strictly Swingleton Green, further down it is back Lane. I live with my mother and two cats, a Burmese called Lucy and a Bengal called Mystery. Both absolute darlings. After a year of her bedroom being the bathroom upstairs[no, I am not Irish, nothing against them mind you] she has graduated downstairs although it has not been without its teething troubles initially, a broken glass lampshade, flowers plucked out of little pots of water, not doing furniture a lot of good but never mind. I have a little writing sanctuary which is beside the back garden door althoughI believe that is about to change as Mum wants to have me upstairs so if I have my PC on, her radio won't be affected.
I hope that we can all be friends together, helping one another through our trials and challenges of scriptwriting for the big or small screen. Apart from what I am doing,I would love to adapt a book or two into a screenplay, one or two of John Buchan's and a Wilkie Collins, Basil which has been the afternoon serial. Absolutely brilliant. I feel that the old classic writers could do far worse than teach us a thing or two in writing a dammed good story. What does everyone else think I would be very interested to hear your views. I might be able to pass on tips and equally learn something from other writers so boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, whatever era and age, let us all now have fun - that is what we are here for are we not. Perhaps exchange the odd chuckle joke as well, who knows. We are all on this earth to try and enjoy ourselves.
Best wishes to everyone on simplyscripts discussionboard from Widget52
I have changed my name to Illiad from Widget52. Sorry everyone for the confusion I have caused but it has taken some doing and my decision for personal reasons. I hope this will be alright and look forward to hearing from everyone. Illiad
Well, welcome to the site officially then. I hope you get out of it what you're looking for. It looks like you've found the Recommended Script thread, which contains what some people consider to be good (it also helps that I'm in there lots of times, but I'm not conceited ). Enjoy and be sure and use this resource for everything it can provide. A lot of good people stop by here, and most of them like to help others.
