Hi,

I just deleted my opening line. It wasn't right. I wrote: I, like most of the posters here, am an aspiring writer. But that isn't entirely true. Fact is, I, like most of the posters here, am a writer. I write.

The question is: Is what I write of value to others? I don't know. Fact is, I don't care. I'll continue to write, regardless of the opinions of others. This, of course, renders the question moot.

Still, I'd like to share my work with a wider audience. One that's able to provide honest feedback that assists me in my efforts.

Yes, I've a kind of literary, dual personality. I want, on the one hand, to write without regard to an audience. On the other hand, I want an audience.

I'm a careful writer. It takes me months, if not years, to turn out a script. That said, don't expect too much productivity from me.

I'm a slow writer. Like someone, one of the regulars here said,  "I am not impressed by how fast a  screenplay is written. I'm more interested in a well crafted script."

I've read, and reviewed, a few screenplays this past week. What I've learned is, it's easier to critique a script than to write one.   That said, I applaud all who, risking ridicule, post their work.

I, being the neurotic F*** that I am, have yet to lay it out, and I probably won't for some time.

I've three scripts, each is replete with problems. I'd be embarrassed to post them.

So, if I critique your script, if it seems harsh, remember, Seth has yet to post anything, and his s***, as he admits, stinks... Horribly.

You should let somebody else be the judge of that.

I've seen you dropping some comments here and there.  Good comments, too.  More power to you. I think it's fun to critique the works of others.  It's almost a hobby.

Why not get your neurotic feet wet with a short script?  Then you can apply the feedback you get to your larger works until you've tweaked them to your satisfaction.

Just a thought.  Welcome aboard -- whatever you decide to do.

Welcome, Seth. I reckon you should just put your script/scripts up, because the feedback you'll get will only help you improve them.

Anyway, you’re lucky; Simply Scripts is a good place to land for anyone who wants to write scripts.

See you around, mate.

Seth,
If you are a bit concerned about uploading your work onto the site for the whole world to see, perhaps just e-mail it to one member, and get their opinion.  If they don't like it, you can work on it some more and then send it on, if they do, send it on.  I'm sure their are many people who would be happy to help, I would, but it might take me some time.

Welcome Seth. And I just wanna say that a review is not a life or death situation. Whether you think a work of yours is great, or needs work, comments could only help. We all continue to improve our scripts, that's what this site is for. You could spend years and years forming a screenplay that is up to all YOUR standards until it's perfect in YOUR eyes, but then if nobody else likes it, it's kinda all for nothing, know what I mean? Don't be shy to post.

"Picture Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd" - George Carlin
"I have to sign before you shoot me?" - Navin Johnson
"It'll take time to restore chaos" - George W. Bush
"Harry, I love you!" - Ben Affleck
"What are you looking at, sugar t*ts?" - The man without a face
"Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death." - Exodus 31:15
"No one ever expects The Spanish Inquisition!" - The Spanish Inquisition
"Matt Damon" - Matt Damon

I appreciate that those who post here give honest critiques. Such critiques are difficult to obtain. Friends and family, for the most part, aren't able to objectively judge a loved one's work.

I've enjoyed it. It's helpful not only to the author, but the reviewer as well. Already, I've identified problems in my own scripts that I would have, likely, remained blind to had I not recognized them in the few scripts I've reviewed.

I do have a short. That'll probably be the first thing I post.
