My name is Reuben Husk, I am 18 years old, and turning 19 in October. I've been writing since I was about 10 years old, yes, 10. I am an avid writer who really enjoys to read other people's work to make mine better, and just for the sake of entertainment. I am embarassed about this question, because I've been writing so long, but what is the correct format??? -Reuban

Read some screenplays with smileyfaces wearing sunglasses, they are in the correct format. Or go to the screenwriting class board and learn there. -Tyler

Yeah, you're 18. You started when you were 10. 7 years- not that long for a writer.

Thanks for the wonderfully insightful post, Dom, and for filling me in that 18 minus 10 is 7.
Anyway, if you're looking for tips on formatting, check out some scripts like Higgonaitor said. If you're looking for software, check out CELTX
http://www.celtx.com It's a free program, pretty easy to use, and formats very well.

Yeah, I've always had that problem. Cos I count like this: 10-11 11-12 12-13 13-14 14-15 16-17 17-18 To me, that adds up to 7.

I don't know what's funnier -- the original observation -- or the
justification that follows.
My mind boggles...
In case your mind is boggling, Ickabaud, follow this link to some resources that should be helpful to you -- formatting and plenty of other good stuff:

I've got a link in my sig (Click here to read my scripts!) that shows everything I have up. If anything strikes your interest, give it a read. If not, that's cool too.

I'd say the original observation is funnier, but the second one has more of a scif-fi feel to it since it seems to exist in the space/time continuum that doesn't recognize year 15-16.

Hey Reuban, hope you like it here. I've certainly become a better writer since joining this place.
And the thing with the numbers of years and what not... I got 9 years... not 7 or 8... if you go:
10- 1 yr
11- 2 yr
12- 3 yr
13- 4 yr
14- 5 yr
15- 6 yr
16- 7 yr
17- 8 yr
18- 9 yr
And almost 19... anyway... jeeze, I got pulled into this debate!
I may be an idiot, but I'm no idiot.

Can we let the math go right now? It's reminding me of the Abbot and Costello sketch where Costello explains how 13 x 7 = 28. And it was done better there. Welcome to the boards, Reuben. Phil
