Since the one docu kind of fell through, I'm going to keep trying this concept.
Here's the deal. I'm looking to put together a zombie film. It is to be shot in a documentary format and to chronicle 24 hours of an infestation.
Ideally, I'm looking for 10 minute zombie shorts. What I plan on doing is editing the clips together as a kind of multi-character based zombie narrative.
If anyone is interested please tell me.
Thanks. |

Hey - I (was) writing a zombie flick at one point, and I shelved it. Most of it was stupid, but there was one scene, though totally unrelated to the movie, that was my favourite. I'll check to see if it's ten minutes long. |

I'd like to help, but I, too, am writing a zombie script. Maybe I could squeeze in some time and show you what I could come up with. Sean |

I think that sounds pretty good. I've never really tried to write a zombie flick but I really want to. It's something I want to get into for a while or at least try at some point. I'm interested... what do I do? |

All you need is a camera and an idea. It'd be like a collection of films shot in documentary, student film, and whatever else. So it's almost like people were filming and the cameraman keeps filming as zombie interrupt.
And some could be like Sean's journal, but literally shot entirely with a camera. I think that could be something. I mean I know Romero has a similar idea. But since I'm only aiming for an internet preimere I think it could work. |

Sounds pretty cool. I've got a friend with a really great idea that fits perfectly with this and I'm gonna see what he's gonna do with it. If nothing, I'm gonna see if I can take his idea and, well, we'll see what happens. |

Sounds great.
Honestly the idea came when I was browsing Youtube and thought to myself, you know what'd be cool. A zombie film made by the fans. I mean most of use only have cheap consumer brand camera's at our disposal. Therefore the only films that can be made with those look cheap and sound like crap. But then I thought, what if we made that workable.
And thus the idea of a zombie mosiac was born. It's like seeing the thing from the characters eyes. In essence it makes it more real. |

Like first-person POV in a video game? I'd actually like to see what it would look like if you WERE the character...Just use the camera as the person's vision. Sean |

In a sense. Though imagine if you will a zombie infestation has taken place. That now a reporting unit has collected these various clips. These last documents of people's lives and compiled them together. That's the effect I'm going for.

The cool thing is that I'm in the mood for zombies after hours upon hours of fun playing Dead Rising for the Xbox 360. It certainly gives you a little inspiration.
But this idea sounds great. When do you plan to begin? Have you started scripting or come up with anything that you're going to shoot, Topher? The only thing stopping me is getting a good enough camera... I'm getting an alright one for Christmas... is that too late? I could manage to get a camera any time since I study media/film at college and have access to them but they're not good and the sound's very poor. Saying that, I suppose it adds to realism. |

Yeah, the camera you have would work. The idea isn't for the best quality. Just to capture realism.
Personally, I was thinking most of it could be improvised, you know. |
