Hello everyone! I am new to the board and I thought I would give everyone a little bit of info about myself.

My name is Andrew. I live in Baltimore, MD. I am studying film production. Next semester I am going to be taking my first script writing class.

I joined this site to get some background info about script writing and to know other writers. I myself have not written anything. I mean, I haven't written anything worthy of being called a script. I write dialogue sometimes but nothing compares to what's on this site.

In my spare time I play guitar and love to listen to Jimi Hendrix's music, so inspiring. I really like Kevin Smith movies and I am a huge fan of Cameron Crowe. I also like watching Kevin Spacey, by far my favorite actor. My favorite movie is American Beauty. I watch the TV show House religiously. Hugh Laurie is a genius!

I can't think of any other things to ramble on about. If you need anything else just ask me a question.

I think I'll start off reading some shorts and then work my way on up. Any suggestions?

Welcome. You'll find a tight knit group of people here who like to read stuff, and like to give sincere feedback. Reading other people's work helps to get you noticed and whether those people read your stuff, others will notice that you're here, and tend to migrate towards your stuff.

Hope you get a lot out of it.

I have made videos for some of my classes and some needed dialogue. In my head I came up with what the characters should say and how they should be positioned on screen and all that junk. I've just never written anything out and put it on paper. Does that make sense?

Great to have you here.  I've been around exactly one month and I find it to be very inviting to newcomers who have a sincere appreciation for and an eagerness to get better at the craft.
The simple axiom that governs this place is like George said, treat others as you'd like to be treated and you'll have a lot of fun here.

Where do you study film in Baltimore?  I love going to Baltimore on Airtran and taking the light rail downtown.  They have really good fares out of Rochester from time to time.

Then Electric Ladyland at second, 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn to Be) is an absolutely awesome song.

New to this site, first post. Also new to producing moving pictures. My ambition is to direct and visualize. All I need is a script to fit my volunteer actors and get some experimentation going.

If what you want to do is visualize, there are plenty of scripts to do that with. Check out The "Simply Recommended Scripts thread here: http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-knowyou/m-1141227828/s-new/. That'll give you a chance to see some of the creme of the crop around here, and you can visualize all you want. If you want to produce them, however, that's a whole other story. Most of us are pretty open to someone playing, though.

Thanks for a reply. Yes, playing is my aim. Cut my teeth sort of trials. No distribution, except to the actors, writer, etc. Some shorts, skits, maybe even animated. I don't want to be bogged down writing my own script while learning to make filming happen. I figure I can write later, if need be. From the looks of this site, I should focus on all the other parts and utilize scripts already written by talented folks. So, is "playing" the best approach to gaining permission to produce an experiment? I'm a semi-pro still photographer who has a new Handi-cam and I'm not affraid to shoot and direct people.
