Hi everyone! I´m a finnish guy who loves writing. I´ve written short stories and poems and now I´ve become really fascinated about screenwriting. I´m looking forward to getting some (or perhaps a lot   ) advice from more experienced writers. I am currently working on a idea of a script, so i havent written anything down yet. I´ve downloaded a program called "movie magic screenwriter" and I´m wondering if any of you guys are using it? Anyway, i have spent the last two hours reading these forums and i´ve found these a very, very useful resource. I´m really glad that i found this place, because unlike in so many other forums people seem to be very helpful and kind here!

Welcome Finnwind.

My advice for the boards is dont feel as if because you're new,, your advice isn't good.  Read other peoples scripts and give them advice and they will be sure to do the same for you.

Hey finnish guy! Just give as much as you recieve to the boards, and you'll get along famously. And don't forget reading other's scripts is very useful for learning.

"Picture Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd" - George Carlin
"I have to sign before you shoot me?" - Navin Johnson
"It'll take time to restore chaos" - George W. Bush
"Harry, I love you!" - Ben Affleck
"What are you looking at, sugar t*ts?" - The man without a face
"Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death." - Exodus 31:15
"No one ever expects The Spanish Inquisition!" - The Spanish Inquisition
"Matt Damon" - Matt Damon

My post was aimed more at the kind aspect of his comment. This site will definitely help a new writer. It just won’t do that much for someone’s self-esteem.

Again, welcome to the site Finnwind

Thank you! When I said "kind" I meant the general atmosphere. I mean, I dont expect people to praise my work if there is no cause for that. Heavy criticism is essential if it´s constructive   I dont think people should get angry if their scripts are criticised because it shows that someone has actually taken time to read the script. So I will be grateful for any kind of feedback I´ll get. Of course, I understand that I have to review other people´s scripts first before I can expect my scripts to be read. That´s the way it should be, because that makes the boards work.

Criticism is such an ugly word.  Feedback is much better!

Welcome aboard!
