This summer I am shooting Love Bites.  Filming actually starts tommorrow.  I've actually been working on pre-production since fall, have a new script (not posted) a great cast and a budget of about $0.

Anyway.  It's going to just be a fun video project.  The pyrotechnics will have to be toned down, but other than that it should turn out quite good.

We'll be done shooting on July 14th, and I'll be able to post or send the movie to whoever wants to see it in the fall.  Last time I checked, someone from the boards (other than me) planned on having a cameo appearance, and I myself will be playing Garret.

So anyway, I know quite a few have read it, and I thank you alot for that, and I just thought you might all like to know--thats what I'm up to.

-Tyler

Awesome!!

I thought you did really well on the script. Very charming and with the right actors I think it can be great.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey, sweet.  I really enjoyed Love Bites.  I think it's your best work, actually.  Best of luck to you this summer.  Shooting a feature is noooo easy task, especially with a zero budget, but hey, if you keep the energy there, the best gifts may be yet to come.

Be excellent to each other

Hey ho,

I haven't read Love Bites (shoot me) but I'm glad to see yet another SimplyScripter embark on a film project.  Wish you the best of luck and don't forget to keep us updated!

I'll bet you a quarter you're not done by the 14th.  If you are, you win not only the quarter, but my extreme respect.  Or another quarter, whichever you hold to be more valuable.

Good luck Higgs.

It's good to take the initiative to go out there and make something. Hopefully you'll learn lots and give you the drive to go out and make a second.

I read Love Bites and thought it was fun. I think even despite the vampire angle, this would make a decent low (zero) budget film. I like the poster BTW. Hope the filming goes well.

Thanks everyone.  I'm really hoping it will turn out looking decent.  Right now I'm trying to figure out how to make it look like someone is bursting into flames without having them actually catch on fire... I'm thinking a smoke bomb or editing a fire over them...

Thanks for all the reads and support.

It's a race against the clock I know, but most of my actors have nothing to do all day, every day, so I'm hoping it will work.

I leave for georgia on th 14th, and a few of my actors (including the protaganist) are seniors and heading off to college in august so we pretty much have to be done filming by then.

Thanks.  I have a freind who's pretty good with photo shop.  He made this poster and he's going to make a little animation and such.

Also, BTW, just a sort of cool fact...did you know my school won a grammy for the best high school music program?  I'm having a freind of mine from the orchestra work on the original score, so hopefully that will be good as well.

This is really exciting.

Hey there everybody.

So filiming today went pretty well.  I didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped to, but what I did get done seems like quality stuff.

Those of you who have read the script might recall the scene where Garret turns rick's holy water into holy kool-aid and then drinks it.  When filimng that today, we had a few mistakes and a few changes, and so we ended up filimng it QUITE a few times.  Here is the result:

If it doesnt work right away it is because I just uploaded it.

Congrats on embarking this director journey. I remember reading this script and liking it. That scene with the holy water still reminds me of Benny Hill. Hope everything turns out well.

Damn....how much Kool-Aid did you have to drink through all of that?

Enjoyed watching the outtakes, though. How many scenes did you get through today?

I almost feel like I got nothing accomplished.  I feel like the biggest point of the day was to ease me into the role of director and because of that very little filming got done.  I also feel so happy with my actors though.  The guy I have playing Rick is just perfect, and same with my other guys and gals.

Today I shoth the break the door down, break the handle off, and set Andy on fire scenes.  And they definetely all turned out really cool, but they are only parts of larger scenes, and thats really all I got done in about 3 hours of work.  So it's turning out great, but its taking it's sweet time.

Sounds like you're approaching it perfectly, if you ask me.  Easing into things is good, because I'm sure there will be extremely nasty shocks along the way.

If it makes you feel better about the time, by the way, I had a six person crew on a roof in the pouring rain for six hours (with actors in T-shirts) the other day.  I cut the footage, and what do you know...seven seconds of edited film.  There are some shots, sequences, and scenes that just work like that.

Hey.  Thanks for all the support guys.  I thought I'd give you an update, as well as a few fuzzy still frames.

Things are moving along much easier now.  We get scenes done much faster than earlier, so things are looking up. (They are still taking much longer than I suspectd however.)
I had a little trouble with the casting of Lee, because there aren't that many talented shorter kids, so we just got a taller one who's makes up for being too tall with being perfect in every other regard.

Here are some still frames:

Thats Dan (if you don't remember him from the scrpt, it's because I changed his name), bursting into the room on a cocky Rick and a prepared lee.

Thats Lee and his only line (which the kid messed up and said gesundteit)

Dan bursting into flames...

Rick garret and Lee preparing to garlic butter spray themselves (I'm garret, btw)

alright.  I'll post some more later.  That's enough for now.

JB?  More of this Jack Black stuff?  I thought that was dieing.  The other day I got a new one actually, someone said I reminded them of squints from the sandlot.  No one else agreed.

Yeah, that kool-aid thing was a fun little video to make.
