I've been browsing this site for a while now and have decided to finally join up. I have quite a few ideas, I just need to get around to writing them. Hopefully now that I've joined up, I'll have a reason to do so.
Welcome to the site. Read and review before you ever think of asking to get read yourself and you'll be alright. You've gotta give feedback to get feedback...or at least, to get feedback and not look like a donkey.
Again, welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy your stay here at the Simply Scripts Inn and Suits.
Yeah, I'll probably read and review a few scripts just to get a feel of the style/ability etc. Are there any recommended scripts that are definite must reads, especially for a newbie such as myself?
Well...if you want to learn from extremely talented writers as far as format AND storytelling goes, you should read The Fempiror Chronicles in the series section (extremely good) and you could check out The Farm in the horror section.
Those are two of my favorite scripts on the site. The Fempiror Chronicles is a series with multiple feature length scripts and then a series of hour-long episodes. It's VERY good.
Basically, avoid anything that isn't formatted correctly if you are reading to learn. You'll always try to write like what you read without knowing it until you develop your own style and mature as a writer. So you want to be filling your head with good scripts that are brilliant on all levels: format, writing, storytelling, character development, etc.
