I'm not crazy about these introduction things, but I thought I'd say hello since I'm the newest member here (are there free snacks for newbies?).
Some of you here might know me from a couple of other writing forums. I'm "alleycat" on those too. If so, howdy.
I've mostly written short stories and plays in the past (and one awful novel I can't even stand to open the file on), but I've also been interested in screenplays for some time. I've never gotten serious about it until lately. I just finished taking an online class with David Trottier and working pretty steady on one script, while outlining a "pulp movie" type script while I'm sitting around thinkin'. Both are going well (at least for the time being).
Anyway, I'll look forward to getting to know the rest of you here.
Cool, that you almost made it onto Green Mile as an extra.
I've been an extra a few times...
If you want your script read when you're finished with it, it's always a good idea to read and comment on other scripts first. You're more likely to get read that way.
Hello alleycat, and welcome to one of the greatest scriptwriting communities you can find on the net. I'm new as well, and have found it to be a very educational experience so far.
An extra on the Green Mile, wow, that's pretty cool!
I am new to these forums myself (new to scriptwriting in general), and I like what I have seen so far. Overall the people on this forum seem very nice and friendly.
I have checked out several forums/communities on script writing and I must say that this is the forum that makes me feel most comfortable to post my firsts scripts. (I haven't finished any scripts yet, but have started a couple. I am a real newbie.)
Thanks for the welcome, pia, Stigmata, movemycheese.
Actually, the thing about the Green Mile was just a joke. It was filmed at the old Tennessee State Prison in Nashville--the former "home" of James Earl Ray. I happened to be in the area at the time (getting my car inspection done) and went by while they were filming it. I might have seen Tom Hanks. Maybe. I think they did ask for extras during the filming but I wasn't one of them. I probably would make a good convict though.
