Hi I'm new here... I stumbled on your site while I was looking up information on how to start writing a screenplay.  I have so many ideas, like many people i'm sure lol!!  I just want to put it all down, I am not doing this for money.  I have my own business and my husband is equally successful.  I mean dont think we are billionaires, but we are happy and comfortable..didnt mean to come off snobbish.  I am 29 yrs old and we just had a little girl 3 months ago.  Well, back to the reason I came here: I want to write.  I hope this site gets me started.

Thanks for your time, and I hope to make some new friends...

Welcome to the group, Stephanie,

Don't try to write more than one or two things at a time.  That would just slow you slow and leave you frustrated because you aren't getting anything done.  Reading other people's work is also a great way to learn how to format a script.

Hello Stephanie,

You've come to the right place.  So far everyone's given you great suggestions on how to start.

I only have one suggestion.  The best way to learn how to write a screenplay is just to sit down and write one.  It's never going to get written unless you write it.  I would recommend trying your hand at a short script first - that will teach you quite a bit in the shortest amount of time.

You can post your screenplays on this site and people will give you feedback.

Be sure to read other peoples scripts as well. Besides being expected if you want people to give you feedback on your scripts, reading other peoples work gives you insight on how other people handle situations you will encounter while writing and may also provide you with some inspiration.

Enjoy!

Welcome, Stephanie.  Congratulations on the new baby.  Babies are fun.  Take lots of pictures cuz they grow up awfully quick.  (My daughter is all grown up -- and my grandson was born last year.  Yikes!)  Anyway...I hope you learn a thing or two here on the forum!

Well seeing as how the others have covered the basics, such as read and get read, and check out different scripts to get an idea on how to write your own, I will simply say

Welcome to the madness that is the Simply Scripts Forum.

check out episodes 1 - 3 of Mister D.

Hello Stephanie,

Welcome to wonderland.

Where do you start?

Where do I begin?  ...to tell the story of how great a love can be... the sweet love story...

Seriously, I think we're all asking that question every single day.

I look forward to working with you.

Sandra
