Just got an email that another short has been filmed. The script isn't available on here since it was done in collaboration with the filmmaker, but at least people will be going into the film fresh.
My my, you get so much stuff filmed! These 'Natural Light Studio' guys have filmed one of yours before, yes? The one with the broken glasses? This was better than that. I really liked it! I didn't see the twist at the end coming - I thought it would be that the 'loved ones' they were talking about weren't dead, but had just broken up with them. But no doubt that was what you wanted me to think...
The acting was actually very solid (apart from the fake crying, but I know that's hard). Stella was particularly good. The only odd thing was the Hitchcock medley going on in the background. But apart from that, great.
Well done Mike, and well done the people who made it.
This is the third film that I've worked on with Natural Light, and I agree that is the best of them all. The director is definitely making progress in filmmaking (adding scores and what not) and I think the sound quality was much better here. That probably has to do with being inside though.
I was happy with the actors' performances (probably Barbara most of all).
Thanks for checking it out, Pia. Glad you enjoyed it and didn't expect the twist.
As far as Daryl goes, I agree he's definitely getting better with each film. I hope to work with him again, hopefully on a feature at some point. He's in NM, and it's a really film friendly place.
Well done for getting another one filmed Mike. It was good, I liked it. I did see the end coming though... As Steven said, the music kinda gave it away.
My wife said the same thing about the music, and I agree with it. I didn't pay too much attention to it in the first viewing, but I caught it later. There are definitely spots that make it more obvious than others.
Excellent. Cinematography, sound quality and acting all top notch. Technically speak, this is one of the best shorts I've seen. It had a certain 'Bewitched' quality to it. Having read the comments in this thread, I was expecting a twist, however the twist was quite unexpected.
For those of you wondering why this isn't up on the main site at http://www.simplyscripts.com . The criteria is simply if the script is available, I'll put up the movie (or audio). If I didn't maintain that criteria, I'd have a million requests to put movies on the site. Mike, as well as a number of posters to this thread, are well aware of the requirement and know that the lack of posting is in no way meant to be a slight. - Don
If you wouldn't mind heading over to the site below and casting a vote for the film, I'd appreciate it. A log-in is required, but it seems like a pretty good site.
Damn it! I was wrong! I thought it was going to be that everybody was still alive and there beau's had just broken up with them.
Very good twist. I should've figured it out from the beginning when Stella said 'Don't be silly. When was the last time any of us were sick?' But that threw me off even more because I was also waiting for the 'witch' angle to be revealed.
The acting wasn't really too bad, but you can definately tell the actresses have had mostly stage experience and haven't quite fully adapted to being filmed, yet. You really don't need as much over-exaggeration and 'perfect loud pronunciation' on film as on stage, and I think it got in the way of what was otherwise very tight dialogue.
I did notice from a couple of her lines, though, at least in my opinion, the actress who plays 'Ginger' has quite a lot of potential. Something from those couple lines that she nailed just resonated to me for some reason.
The cinematography wasn't bad, pretty standard, I thought, but a lot was also taken away by the Looney Tunes soundtrack. I call it the 'Looney Tunes' soundtrack not for the parts where Tom is chasing Jerry or Wile E. Coyote is chasing the Roadrunner and the fast tempo that accompanies those scenes, but for the parts where the cartoon starts and Tom is comfortably sleeping and Wile E. is couched on on a hammock and the music that accompanies those scenes. That's what the music was like throughout the whole thing and for me, got a little unnerving.
That aside, though, it was still a very good script and an ending that makes any story worthwhile to check out.
Excellent film, Mike. loved the quality of the work and the twist in the end. Good Job!
Question: I was checking out your website and there is a link on the left that says: Check out Chick Bill Comics, what's up with that? The link goes nowhere by the way, but do you know who Chick Bill is?

It's probably just an ad. I've seen things regarding teeth whitening and phone service in that area as well.
i see. i was surprised to see it because Chick Bill comics are not available in the English language. The series is a humorous Belgian/French comics set in the old west, Dodge City, Arizona...REALLY funny stuff!
