Hi, guys and gals, I received a message from a student from Punjab and I’d like to share it with you. By the way he allowed me to post it here and please, say what do think about his question.
--------------------------------

Dear Mr Cordeiro,
i am a student of film making in University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan.
i came across your script "Flowers To Lisa Mansel" it is a beautiful short script.
i was having a discussion about it with my friend but we came to a hault
according to me the script takes place in atleast two different days
one when he gets up takes shower buys bouquet and goes to the graveyard
and the other day when he is walking in street, buys flower and goes to Lisa Mansel's Place and then there is also a flash back of a previous incident with Lisa Mansel

My Friend disagrees and says its the same day and the girl on the door receiving flowers is not actually Lisa Mansel, Malcolm realizes at that moment that she had died and than buys the flower again and goes to graveyard.

Can you please clarify our confusion we will highly appreciate it. your contribution can help us become good filmmakers.

waiting for your reply

Thank you

Farewell

Hey Helio,

Not having read the script in question, it's difficult for to me to comment on Umar's question in the right context but since he and his friends (or is he a she?) are discussing your script, you should feel good about it and I think you should clarify the situation for them.

Here's the script in case anyone would like to read it before commenting.

I actually think neither of those interpretations are correct and that the gravestone is a metaphor for Malcolm giving up on Lisa.

Okay, read the script. Here's how I see it:

SCENE #1    (present)
SCENE #2    (flashback - but same day)
SCENE #3    (present)
SCENE #4-6  (flashbacks - but same day)
SCENE #7-9  (flashbacks - different day)
SCENE #10   (present)
SCENE #11   (flashback - continuing from SCENE#9)
[MONTAGE]   (either just in his head or another flashback to a different day)
SCENE #12   (flashback - but same day)
SCENE #13   (present)

Am I even close?

I complete agree with that. Malcolm is a clumsy fella who keeps screwing up every time he wants to deliver something nice to Lisa. So in then end he gives up on her, decides to bury her (metaphorically speaking - he's in a park, not a graveyard) but he screws up even that.

Hey, fellas, here is what Umar said when I've asked him permition to post his message:

Dear Mr Cordeiro,
You can post my question and i will be glad if my question helps answering others.
i am trying to become a filmmaker and i hope all doing the same and all who already are successful can help each other out.
All of us can learn from each other.

Thank you
