New here... just wanted to say hi! Hope to find some great inspriation here.  Has anyone listened to music and got a story from a particular song?  This is what I am working on now, and it feels really good.  Its just pouring out of me.  Haven't started actual writing yet- just getting my ideas all down before they fly out of my head.  Well that's whats going on here... hope you are all enjoying your day!

Welcome, Steph. I'm sure you'll finds plenty of inspiration. There's just pages and pages of ideas spread across the boards. As for the song question; sure. That's the best way to go, getting all the ideas down. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Thanks Sean.. I actually started writing last year and got 40 pages in and then nothing.. blank.. totally blank.  So I took some time off and now I'm back, new ideas, hopefully I get back to the other screenplay one day !

I don't believe I've ever gotten an idea from a song, but I definitely listen to music while I write to keep me in a certain mood.  I wrote my last script on a pretty heavy regiment of They Might Be Giants.

I used to know a writer who would assign a particular song to their main character and play nothing but that song while they wrote.  That would drive me up the wall, but I guess it worked for her.

I got many ideas from music and i write many scenes wlistening to particular song.

I put all the songs together on a cd and play it over and over again, it keeps my ideas flowing and everyday more and more pop in... I think this is the way to go for me. Im glad Im not the only one!!

I have all the music on my iPod organized into different moods so I can get inspired to write a particular genre and theme.

Secondly, I'm glad to hear that it's pouring out of you. Hold on to that and never let it go. And when it stops pouring, keep working anyways and you'll have something most people would trade an arm for.

Im not a huge fan of Chesney, but he does have some good songs..and a huge following.  Listen to a country song and BOOM you get your story. LOL.
