Don asked me to share this last year but I was unsure if this script was going to be made and my hesitation with the rewrites as this black comedy was evolving into a drama.
All those rewrites have been scrapped last year and it now looks like we're finally heading somewhere.
I'm still with the same director and hes realised the errors of his ways. He's brought two more people on board. Discussed the original script and have now reached the stage where we're entering pre-production.
We just discussed yesterday locations, props, the production team, budget etc... And we're now aiming for September/October for this to be shot over two twelve hour days.
November/December for post-production and then January 2011 for promotion. That's like over two years to the final product.
I can't wait to show everyone the final product. It'll be shown around London so please come along if you live locally. I'll make another update when & where.
I was thinking I could update my progress here, kind of like a blog. Not sure how that'll go down.
The next meeting will be in a few weeks. Here's what one of the producers wrote in the email to all of us:
Producers are to source three possible locations and bring details / photos / links for the next meeting. See list below for specifications.
- Budget considerations will be discussed in the next meeting... - In the next meeting we will also outline and agree on our distribution goals (which festivals we're looking at etc) - It would be useful to know if you have any long holidays coming up.
I believe possible storyboarding will be done at the end of the meeting or the next.
Hey, congratulations, Javier! I did a quick readthrough of the script; very amusing! Was your work discovered on Simply?
I was initially dubious when I read that it was a two-day shoot but you've perfectly written it for a quick low-budget production. Very clever...big ideas and small sets.

Cheers for the read Heretic,
It's weird how I was spotted, not on any script related website. Facebook of all places. And I didn't even post a link to the script or my site. Just was associated with a film group.
With all the helpful hints & tips I was given here on SS, I was told to add a bunch of wrylies, add underlined words, put stuff in bold et cetera. I was scratching my head wondering why?
I'm due to write a treatment next for the short. Next meeting will be location, story boarding and budget.
The dudes spent two hours on half a page of story boarding so I'm not sure if I'll stay for all of this. Might get bored at this stage.
We were also to look for a location to film but my director has possible found a free place to shoot.
He's going to be shooting a music video in a warehouse next month which will be blacked out, comes with a green screen, spot lights and a smoke machine.
Friggin' sweet!
On a side note, I've been invited to a media gathering involving producers, directors etc...
In the spirit of looking for scripts made without consent as highlighted in Zack's thread.
I decided to see if this script got made. Now I've looked in the past and since the title is very common, I could never find evidence.
Now I find a short of mine made from November 2008 by this Alejandro Ganzalez who didn't ask me for my permission. I just turned down a Canadian company not more than two months ago as I'm now in pre-production of my short.
Do I tell the director? I don't think I will. Although I did notice Phil got lawyers involved and I'd rather not go down that route. But the director does want to promote the short in competitions, so maybe I should? Kind of a headache.
At least I got a credit though. He sneakily didn't use my name as a keyword or it would have popped up instantly.
I'm off to troll the net for more unauthorized productions of my short.
