As it is easy to tell by my post, I am somewhat new to the community, well, let's not sugar coat it, completely new. I've been writing for quite a while now, mostly short stories and always have been inspired to write a script, or two (or maybe a dozen, but we'll see how the first one finishes up).
In any case, I am looking forward to interact with the community of like minded people who can offer insight and advice, and really, I'm looking forward to all this. I mean, if we're writing we all share a dream right? I'm rambling now .
Just a few quick questions. How large is the community? How active are most members? And, more importantly, you guys always keep each other up to date on contests and such right? Stupid questions I know, but I felt like posting a post just for the sake of introducing myself is a bit... stale.
Don is probably the only one who can answer your questions regarding the numbers, but there are probably fifty to seventy active members and probably fifteen to twenty really active members.

I can't live the buttoned-down life like you. I want it all. The dizzying highs, the terrifying lows, the creamy middles. Sure, I may offend some of the blue bloods with my cocky stride and musky odors. Oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "city fathers," who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?
Nice to meet you. You're in the right place! Write some short scrips based on your stories, do some reviews of others work here, you'll fit in and learn alot. Best of luck!
Despite what you may have heard... between the pros and amateurs in the world of screenwriting, the playing field is level. However, the competition is enormous.
