I'll second Bill's comments here and say it's nice to have a newbie is honest enough to say their first script probably needs work rather than the ones who claim to have written the greatest script since....since....(was going to include one of mine lol)

Welcome to the boards, dxer07002.

I'd probably say i wrote one of the worst scripts ever. LOL.

I watch movies all the time. I have seen a lot of crappy ones and thought to myself, who wrote this piece of junk and how the heck did any studio agree to make this? I thought that if those cruddy movies could get made, any movie could get made.

I am really looking forward to any advice I get from the people here.

Thanks Gabe. Ask my friends. I say that all the time. it does give inspiration though. Basically, I used my feelings as my inspiration to finish mine. But again, I am under no illusions that my script would ever be sold or made into a Hollywood movie. if anything, i always felt that maybe I could make my own movie.

BTW, everyone, my name is Bobby. I use to pen names to write, but mostly those are for books. I have two books I have started writing, two chapters into each. And yes, i am using a different pen name for each. However, I am using my real name for this screenplay. I don't know why. I just figured I'd keep them all separate.

Hey dxer,

Good to meet you.  I'd also be happy to help you with your first script (I'm writing my first feature at the moment, as well).  The advice might not be as kick-ass as the other two who have offered but it might be useful to get some ideas from another developing screenwriter as well.

You can send it to me here, if you want: gage9598@gmail.com

Good to meet you and happy to have you aboard!

Hi Gage. Nice to meet you too. I'm just making a few editing changes, like spelling and grammar. Once done, I'll send it to anyone who is willing to read it. I understand there may be a back log of scripts being posted at the moment. If anyone wants to read it, I can email it over. You all can PM me your email address. Hopefully I can get it out within the next few days.

Welcome aboard, Bobby.

SS is a fantastic tool if used correctly. Your learn alot here by just browsing but remember to participate around the boards and get yourself known by leaving feedback on a few scripts. That way your get lots of feedback on your own script.

Cheers.

Welcome aboard, Bobby.  Movie Magic is the way to go, as far as I'm concerned.

Lots of good peeps here to help, but as others have said, it's a Quid Pro Quo world here and to get reads and feedback, you have to do the same.

Best to you, bro.

Thanks for the welcome. I really like Movie Magic. I downloaed a PDF file tutorial and learned the program in minutes.

One thing I'm trying to figure out and making sure I have it right. Member scripts are posted under UNPRODUCED SCRIPTS correct? and when we post feedback, we do that in the FEEDBACK thread correct?

Navigating the site can be tricky at first.

Best advice I can give you is that little button up top on the right:  "Portal".

That gives you a big board with all the recent activity.  There are a number of ways to get around the board, but that is one of the best.

Happy hunting.

Thanks Bert. I'll check it out. I'm picking things up as I go along.

Hello Bobby- I'm Dirk by the way. Glad to see another newbie on this site that looks for help first before posting their script. I joined recently myself and currently writing my first script. Like Dreamscale posted to you earlier, you read their scripts and they'll return the favor. Even if your reviews are lame like mine tend to be, it still shows that you took the time out to read their script. Good luck with the script and buzz me when you're ready to post it.

Nice to meet you Dirk. My fear is my reviews would be lame. But, I'll give it a shot, once I have some time this weekend.

I finished editing as much as I can right now. I'm converting to PDF file. So, if you all are still serious about reading it, I'll send it out to you all. Just let me know where to send it.

Hey Bobby- Don't worry about how you review scripts. It's hard for someone who's just started writing to give any advice to someone who's been writing for years. A simple "I liked it a lot" goes a long way. Leave the long drawn out reviews to the guys who know what they're doing. And just "pm" me when you're ready and I'll check it out. Take care.

And even when you do get something wrong in a review, people will most probably point you in the right direction. We're very helpful (some cases abusive) with things like that
