About me, I'm older, have a grey beard and own three pineapple shirts. I like ice cream and enjoy riding my Cannondale road bke. Other interests include trying to bring down the bipartisan federal governemnt and long distance 4x4 adventure touring in my almost stock 2001 Jeep Sport Wrangler.
I'm coming from 17 years in commerical arts; new product launch, packaging design for internaitnal consumer product lines and such (ooze, goozes and pharma).
Have written for many years, but mostly for my own amusement and as a cathartic self-help tool.
I don't know what I don't know about scriptwriting, finding an agent or selling a project.
I have, of course, now written a log line, synopsis and several treatments for a block buster new TV series or Movie.
Not wishing to write yet another unread and unsold script, I throw myself upon your tender mercies.
Welcome aboard! This is a great place to share reads and notes. Get to know who the active members are, give some notes, and you'll find it very worth it.

Mark and others, thank you all for your warm welcome.
And yes, that is me, myself and I in the photo hamming it up dressed in a lab coat sent to me by my brother.
As to posting, I'm not sure how that works? DropBox with link in this or another section?
Of small importance at this point, but does posting materials on this site in any way protect your materials (here assuming someone might want to pinch it)?
As previously mentioned, I have written some materials related to a project I call "The Lean Times." These materials could, in theory, be used to write a script (if I knew how).
Now studying scriptwriting style and format online (no expense will be spared!).
I'm Mac Based and using iPages which does have Script Writing software.
I believe Celtix.com has free screen writing software. I have not used it, but someone else can help you if you need it.
Final Draft is the standard if you want to spring for it.
You can post scripts by using the regular script posting form here, and give him the Drop link.
Not a bad idea to register your scripts with WGA. It's $25.
Good way to get feedback and learn format is to submit short scripts here, and review others. Plenty of people will be generous enough to give you notes on a short.
Welcome aboard! Feel free to ask tons of questions and solicit reads - that's what this board is for.
Like Kev, I very much recommend using DropBox to post scripts.
And - personally - I 'd go with the Library of Congress registrations myself. Only $35, and covers much better than WGA... (If you have a series of shorts, you can always register them together for one fee as a compilation...)
Cheers,
Wonkavite (Janet)
(Based on your profile pic, I'm suddenly thinking of those 'most interesting man in the world' commercials. Dunno why...)

Hey John and welcome,
After your descriptions here I think you should write an autobiography. Hee Hee
Hope you enjoy SS, we are all nice guys, (well most of us)
SS is a great resource for voracious learners. Quid pro quo goes a long way around here.
Get the lay of the land and read scripts by CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS. That last part is key. If you read scripts by people that aren't very active here... You're apt to not get return reads on your work.
There's also the Screenwriting Class section full of useful threads. See you around!
Regards, E.D.
LATEST NEWS CineVita Films is producing a short based on my new feature!
OK, I've now written a small sample of my scriptwriting skills (also read deficiencies)…Where do I post the DropBox link for possible reads, reviews and guidance?
Can't say I'm comfortble with the scriptwriting format and my MacIntosh iPages software is a mystery to all but those who wrote the code.
...as a Mac user myself, I heartily recommend going with Final Draft. Yes, it's more expensive - but it's the industry standard. Pays to go with the one that you won't have to replace eventually... (Though upgrades are inevitable.)
RE: linking to scripts. Honestly, I always end up being fuzzy on the darned URL code, but it's a matter of "copying the public link" on Dropbox, starting a new thread on SS and using the URL icon at the bottom to post the address in the thread....
(Someone who links things more often, please chime in!)
