Hello everyone! My name is Persis Shanker. Television producer here in Singapore and thanks to the mods for allowing me to join this board. Where have you been??!
Anywhoo, I've been dabbling in writing since I was a teen. Music/TV/Film/Entertainment have been my passion since I was a kid and for the last 11 years I honed my craft, you could say, progressing from being a writer/researcher of television shows to being a director and executive producer.
Unfortunately, most of the shows I worked on were reality, infotainment, travelogues and such. They weren't really genres that I wanted to do, although I was grateful for the opportunities to travel and film in various countries.
Instead, I realised that what I really wanted to get my teeth into was scripted formats.
In the course of my career, I did get a few shorts made but they were nothing fancy. In fact, they were quite embarassing films. So one day, I decided - enough was enough. That little nagging voice in my heart/head never seemed to go away and I was never really happy at what I was doing so I gave up a cushy job at Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Asia recently to start my own little media consultation/producer/director for hire company and focus on doing projects I really wanted to do.
And one of the first things I buckled myself down to is this sci-fi tale that I'm writing now which I hope to get made eventually. I'm not afraid to try new ideas and I certainly am thrilled to be here to meet other equally passionate and dedicated screenwriters for both film and television.
Needless to say, I can feel that I'm going to be learning a lot here.
Cheers!
I hate television. I hate it as much as peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts.

Thanks aiffy, Kevin and Reef Dreamer. Appreciate the warm welcome. Well, I hope to learn and grow with the team of writers here too.
But life is a learning curve. You never really get off it. So even with TV experience, every new project is just that, new. And you're always learning to roll with the punches from pre-production to post-production and many a time you have to compromise on your work, as a writer.
That's the painful part because it's not always when someone else on the team can elevate your work. Most of the time, they filter/water it down. LOL!
But thanks! Great to be here. Looking forward to it. Heh-heh!
You can find out more about me and my previous works at http://jellyfarmstudios.com [in case] It's not pretty and it's very Asian based. Hehe!
