Since Goose's "Midnight Movies went over so well - and there are so many zombie scripts and writers on this site I thought why not do a anthology that consist of a number of 20 min "high concept" inventive zombie scripts.
Like the scripts on Midnight Movies they'd be 20-30 minutes and anyone can join if they want.

Sound cool?

The scripts can be basically any genre as long as they involves zombies.

Sounds kind of interesting. If enough people show some interest I might throw one in there (even though I'm trying to get out of that genre for a while).

For this anthology I'm looking for quirky and offbeat kind of scripts.

And for the Zombies:

I'm using the term very loosely, they just have to be living corpse" but they don't have to follow the standard "Romero" style.

Just as someone who has wrote a trilogy of Anthology's and am working on HALLOWS OF HORROR as we speak...

A Zombie anthology wouldn't gel so well, not to me anyways.  I don't see where the draw or tie in would be.  A zombie is a zombie and a situation wouldn't be as diverse or varried, to me it seems like each one would be the same or a continual push foward and not a seperate flow for each.

I dunno, it's your ball of wax to shape and mold into the next "Kivchang" but from where I stand as someone who has done both Zombie and traditional horror movies, this would be very low key and quarky in a lot of ways.

When you make an Anthology movie, can I ask you what your goals are?   Anyone can write one, that's not the point, but your stories have to be vastly different in them or they will go over like a led balloon.

Take for example "CREEPSHOW"  I could use my "WALSTIB" anthology, but I won't...

Creepshow was diverse... all had 1 underline theme to each and what was it?

REVENGE!!!!

Fathers Day -- Revenge
Lonesome Jordy Veril -- Revenge
Something to tide you over -- Revenge
The crate -- Revenge
They're creeping up on you -- Revenge

But, in all the same underlined themes... you have what?

DIVERSENESS << Is that a word, if not it is now >>

No two stories were alike... You had a different set up and scenario for each and every story that it made you forget that the underlined theme in each was in fact the same in each.

It's smart writing, it's intellegent work and movie making.

I'm just saying that... All zombies, across the board, 20 to 25 minutes a piece... that's gonna be going strait to the porn theater or 2 dollar bargin bins.

I do, however, not want to discourage your goal... however, I do wish to open your minds up a bit about what it is you are doing and what it is you want and could be doing.

C.K.

Good thoughts and good nite, finally!!!!!

Hey, Mike, I'll write one if you want. Although I need to figure out a synopsis first.

BTW for anyone interested the deadline to get a script in is by the end of January - since I'd like to have the script posted by mid Febuary.

Thanks.

I have a new plan for this -  the anthology is going to be numerous stories that take place during the same infestation.
Therefore we can get numerous perpectives about what's happening.

Sound cool?

I'll be writing a linking segment to tie the films together.

Once everyone has a script in and this is posted I'm going to look into places to submit it.

So, just a heads up - anyone's who's interested may want to get this registered or copy righted.

The opening's pretty cheesy but at the same time enjoyable in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.

The linking segments are going to be basically straight action/horror with a few comedy bits thrown in.

I like the idea of 4 or 5 zombie shorts liked to one event... or set and time.  That's an interesting notion, it is... and if done right, by the right people with the right minds and talent, you could possibly pull this off.

However, with that said... it would have to have continuity with the story before it, sort of like my "WALSTIB" trilogy... It can't just be, Zombie story A -- Zombie story B -- Zombie story c, it can't be.

You'd have to make sure each writer got together and really worked this out to make it all gel well.  5 stories, all different cahracters, same city, different locations and events... My mind can wander on that thought, oh yeah!

You might have yourself a 25 to 30 page short out of me on this one.  I'll keep in touch on this one.

The way you had it, no... but if you're talkin' connection and interaction between each story, then yeah, it's new and it's something I'd do by myself.  I don't like doing things that have been done too much, and this is an idea if you're thinking the way I'm thinking then it's a new and innovative concept, really.

You could even have two writers pair with eachother to write 2 stories, 2 writers to write the other two and then you could read all 4 and write your story in conjunction with the other 4 to tie them all in.  See how it could work and be new and fresh and innovative?

Good thoughts on this one~
