Hello,

My name is Chris and I'm an independent filmmaker.  I am looking for a writer to write a script that is to be filmed.  I am still young but I am convinced that I am capable of quality work, and I am looking to do something that I can send to some festivals.  Previously I have written my own scripts and have had friends write for me but now I really need to do something better than that.  I'm looking for a writer who can write well in the thriller genre and want to do a script about young, college aged characters.  I have what I think is a pretty idea for a script but would also be happy to hear any ideas you have.  If you think that you would be interested in this, or would like to talk more about it, give me an email at darklight2006@yahoo.com , or even just reply in this post .  I would be glad to send you some of my work, to prove that I am a capable filmmaker.

Feel free to ask any questions through email or in this post

Hi Chris,
There are so many scripts that you could choose from right here on this site.

I have a few shorts lying around here on the boards... Damned Yankee, and The Shadow Of Her Smile, Two Trailer Park Girls on A Saturday Afternoon. They are all around thirty pages. I also have a feature, Halloween Games, but I've been told the special effects would be too costly...

If you like any of these, you're welcome to film them.

Cindy

Yeah, Cindy is right.

Why not give a few specifics on your idea for a thriller that involves "college-aged characters", and I'll bet you a nickle somebody can point you towards an exisiting work that is fairly similar, or one that can be adapted to suit your needs.

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself, Chris?

Hi Chris,

If you want to shoot me your idea and tell me some more specifics; how many characters, locations, page count, etc., I’ll play with it and see if I can come up with anything.

To be honest, I’m not much of an assignment writer. I usually write feature lengths because I’m heavily into character development and, for that reason, it’s very difficult for me to write shorts.

In other words, I wouldn’t put all your eggs in my basket, but I’d be willing to toy with your idea and some of my own and see if it leads anywhere.

I am actually looking to do something feature lengthed, and I think that getting something written for my specidic needs is somewhat key.  As an independent filmmaker there are many limitations that I have to work around.  To make the best movie I can, I want to make sure the script plays best to my strengths and to the strengths of the actors in my "actor pool."  It seems to me that in filming something already written I would have to make alot of changes which could end up hurting the final product.

As for more about me, here goes:  I'm a Highschool senior living in New York state hoping to eventually make it as a director.  I have been accepted into the film program at Emerson for next year, and I'm trying hard to get as much experience as I can.  I have done quite a few shorts, a comercial(actually used, not just for fun) and just recently shot my first music video.  At the end of last summer I attempted my first feature film, with a script I wrote myself.  I'm not a writer and the weakness of the script is part of the reason the film eventually failed.  Actor inexperience, my owne inexperience and the rediculously tight shooting schedule(6 days to shoot 75 pages before the actors went away to college) eventually killed the project which ended being about 76% shot.  Since then I have kept shooting small projects and learning everything I can.  Now I believe that with my increased ability, and my intentions of shooting the movie over a much longer period of time, I am ready to take on another feature.  I intend to do many of the things that I did wrong the first time, RIGHT this time and hopefully come up with an end product that can help my reel and give me more experience.  I think that a good script will definately aid me in this process and provide a strong backbone for my new film.

Unfortunately, the only feature length script I have now cannot be done with an indie-budget.  I got plenty of shorts of varying lengths and genres, but no features.

Maybe you should look around the unproduced boards.  You'd probably find something faster this way than having people submit their ideas/scripts to you.

The way you talk is if you know what you need and if you need things to your specific needs you'll have to work very closely with somebody to get what you want so therefore maybe you should look for someone to work with you on it.

Maybe it's what you wanted but judging by the response people are just asking you to look around at stuff they've already written.

If you told somebody what to write and they could actually write it you could have yourself exactly what you need.
